Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

After day 1, there was never any toilet paper in the bathrooms. One staff member at the reception was not friendly.
The bathrooms were really big with lots of space. Lovely decor. The bunks in the room were the most efficient dorm bunks I’ve stayed in. Each person could close a door on their bunks and had their own storage units, charging points, lights and air conditioning. Very good with mixed groups. Also, bar downstairs was great with great prices

Early check in was priced at $15 starting at 11am… if the room is ready early and just sitting there I don’t understand the fee. I’ve worked hotels for many years now and this seemed like a big time money grab.
The location was great, close to CBD and all the shops we need to get started on our WHV.

Miss Lucy’s was so beautiful! I enjoyed going there for tacos and and a margarita. The elevators were spacious and the people staying there were very helpful when I was trying to find my way around. I would love to stay here again.

Nothing. Couldn’t fault it.
Very modern building with all that you could want and more from a back packers. Quirky communal spaces. My private room was spotless, spacious, beautifully decorated and very quiet considering it’s such a big building with lots of people in it.

No window but it did say internal room and I didn’t read into that.
Very helpful staff, very happy to let you hang out pre and post stay and look after baggage. Very clean, great aircon, very comfy stay. Not a loud hostel at all. Could hear slight footsteps at most. Would stay again and reccomend.

Unfortunately my white bed sheets had make up/fake tan stains over them which was a bit unpleasant.
Location was great, just a short walk to Queen Street shops, Art Gallery etc. The facilities were nice and new, with very clean showers and toilets. The overall design was very cool, and the ground floor lounge/communal kitchen and chill out spaces were great. Self check in and check out via the screens at the front entrance was super easy and fast!

Location was great! Room and shared facilities were very clean and modern. Miss Lucy’s was a nice bonus to have close by for food and drinks. Check in and out was smooth and easy. I have nothing to complain about at all!

SURCHARGE FOR CREDIT CARD, even though I forced to pre-pay with a card through booking.com 🙄 I never received a reply. Its definitely more of a student accomodation, which is a fun vibe for younger people Only has the BASIC basics, ie. No conditioner, no fridge or microwave, no windows
Very cute and boutique, socialable and comfy for younger travellers and students.

The room has no windows and only bright overhead lights, which means you are either in a cave or in hospital level lighting. The communal spaces weren't clean, which was super disappointing.
The room is simple, clean, and comfortable. The communal spaces are newish and well thought out.

The AC in the pods isn't great, it got very warm at night. The water running in-between the showers wasn't appealing, I tried to shower when no one else was in there.
Comfortable beds, pods are very private. The attached bar is enjoyable with enjoyable evening activities and good coffees/drinks. The employees were all exceptional and very helpful.

I think the dorm bed pods could use slightly better ventilation and possibly even TV's like ones in europe have.
The close location to the bus terminal at Sky City and the short walk to the center of Auckland city was very helpful! The rooms and toilets were extremely clean also.

bed a bit too soft. sometimes is a bit noisy on the corridor
