Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe kitchen is not clean the whole day they could do better.
Very clean and easy process along the way. It was quiet despite the party downstairs.

New ZealandI arrived not expecting anything massively fancy but this Hostel was by far way more fancier than most Hotels I have stayed in. I am an avid traveller and have experienced many places but this definitely is up in the top places I have stayed in. The modern design is beautiful and very Gen Z. Check in is very simple, The Hostel is very clean and has amazing wifi and Usb/Usb c beside the beds is such a plus. I will not stay anywhere else when im in Auckland next.

AustraliaKitchen could have done with some communal cling wrap and oil, plus perhaps some more tea towels and more fridge space. Kitchen closes at 9:45pm which I felt was quite early. Pods were occasionally too hot but the fan helped.
Amazing hostel. Very friendly vibe, easy to make friends in the kitchen or dining area. Has a bar downstairs in case you want to have drinks with friends or can't be bothered to cook. Everything was spotlessly clean and modern. Bathrooms were beautifully designed. Pods were comfortable and spacious, with plugs and plenty of storage nets, plus a good-sized mirror. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great location in central auckland.

New ZealandThe pods seem to have a significant design flaw - they aren't ventilated so they trap heat and become uncomfortable to sleep in. Opening the pod door is like letting in a much needed breeze.
Extremely clean and modern and safe. A league above almost every other hostel I've ever seen. Excellent bathroom facilities and interior design. Luxury at budget prices!

NetherlandsThe music in the hallways is a little loud. The kitchen can get busy and people don't really clean after themselves.
Great location, very clean bathrooms, cozy atmosphere, nice to have a bar in the hostel (although music can be somewhat loud downstairs)

United KingdomIf I was being picky the room didn’t have a window although it was nicely decorated and it wasn’t that noticeable. The drinks in the hostel bar were expensive, a special rate for guests would go down well I expect!
Great vibe, really clean and modern, friendly staff, good bar integrated with the hostel.

United Statesconsidering the size of the hostel, the kitchen is way too small. it was always crowded & never clean. the pod had barely room for backpacks (outside the pods) but the lockers were not big enough for backpacks / suitcases. the lockers should also open toward the wall, not away from the wall (something to consider for future Lylo hostels)
Stylish, modern, new hostel (only opened at the end of 2022) that has both private rooms and dorms with pods (which means more privacy) great hostel atmosphere - Lyle has several social areas, including a bar / restaurant on the ground floor, where you can connect with other travelers. there’s even a small coworking space for remote workers 👌 the wifi worked excellent; considering the huge amount of people that connected to it at all times. overall, a great hostel. loved “The Outlook”, the lounge space on the second floor!

IrelandWe felt 130 euro/night for a small double room (with no window) for one night with check in at 3pm and check out at 10am was a little steep.
We loved the cool vibes of the place. Very cosy and welcoming communal spaces with nice and friendly people. The kitchen looked very clean, functional and inviting but we didn't use it. It was valentines night and there was a singles party which looked very fun! (Also allowed couples in but different colour wrist bands). The room was very functional, clean, comfortable matress and nice touch with Shampoo and conditioner provided.

New ZealandNo windows in the room. Not enough lights in the bathroom.
Great location a few blocks away from the Skytower, minutes to the wharf and queen street. Modern facilities, nice restaurant and great staff. We were in the hotel for a night to go to a concert and it was perfect for what we needed. Only downturn is that there are no windows in the queen room so you need lights on all the time and it can feel a little claustrophobic.

New ZealandThe price was a bit high, $351 for a room with four beds in it and no bathroom pretty steep if you ask me, dearer than what is on your website, will query that.
The location was perfect, it was nice and clean, the toilets also clean although most of the toilets had run out of toilet paper towards the end of the night.

CanadaA little too "impersonal", it's not what I expect from a youth hostel : not a lot of people to talk to (almost everything is done through screens), and a little too modern for my taste. But that's just taste, it was overall very nice !
Great facilities, very nice place, all equiped, big kitchen and fridges. And nice bar attached to the hostel !
