Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I was charged twice for my stay. Luckily this was caught on check out by the automated check out system which was great! Kitchen isn’t the biggest either but it’s okay.
Pods were super clean and comfortable and the facilities were really nice too. The girls bathroom is one of the nicest I’ve ever had at a hostel. Loads of showers and toilets which is ideal too! Really easy self check in but there is a staff member there to help if needed!

A wonderful hostel to be. Very modern and well maintained with great staff around. So easy to meet people here, prepare your own meal in local kitchen or have a drink or dinner in a restaurant attached. Pods are comfy and big enough, just sometimes too hot if you don´t put a vent on. Stayed for 2 weeks and felt like being home. Only thing I struggled with, that this place is really bussy and you cannot actually hide from others. But that´s just an issue of my introverted character. In general, amazing hostel indeed.

I didn't like that my room had no windows, It was a nice double room with ensuit and it was really comfy and clean but not having a window made me feel like I am in a box. I must say that there is a good ventilation system although for me was not good, because I felt cold and gave me allergies.
the restaurant, and bar with really good food and drink specials, the facilities in general. I felt secure and well located. The staff is also really nice.

Even though I stayed at one of dormitory rooms, each bed got their own slide door. so you can have private space! and there are free locker to secure your baggage. I could put my 65L backpack easily into the locker.

Because of the room design, my bed was *right* next to the door of the 8-pod dorm, and I woke up every time someone went in or out, which seemed to happen every half an hour all night long. Also one guy came in very drunk and was moaning for a while. Next time I'll bring earplugs.
Very clean, secure, friendly, well appointed, and a short walk to the bus station, Sky Tower, CBD, nightlife and restaurants

Facilities are really great: the kitchen is big and well stocked with cooking equipment; the pod beds all come with plenty of power sockets, useful storage & lights; there's a good amount of toilets & showers, never had to wait.

Bit noise because the walls were very thin.

The rug was never cleaned once in my 8 night stay. No window in the pod rooms. It's impossible to know what time of the day it is without looking at your phone. Night lights are permanently lit and are bright enough to wake you up at night

Its a bit pricey and it does not have social activities for the guests, that would be nice, specially if you're a solo traveler!
The hostel is amazing! Its very spacious, everything is super clean (kitchen, bathrooms, facilities), its super cozy and comfortable!

Lylo Hostel is a nice space, modern, clean and with a great variety of people, between travelers, locals, workers, the atmosphere is ideal if you want to meet people during your stay in Auckland. The 4-girl dorm I stayed in was very clean and with all the necessary facilities, as were the bathrooms, large and spotless.
