Made some lovely friends here. Good social spot in kitchen at dinner time. Very clean. The provide towel. No curtains. Checked in late at key was in the box so was amazing. Location is good too. Just off of the main road. Not too far from bus and ferries

Bunkbeds don’t have curtains, so a little less privacy. Lockers were broken.

Although people came in to remake the beds for new arrivals, the floor under the beds was never vacuumed, while i was there at least, as when i came there was rubbish underneath and it was still there when i left. Also there wasn’t many spoons in the cutlery box!

Staff were cool about us building our bikes in the common room, ready to ride the TA and there was a recycling centre across the road to dispose of the boxes There's a lovely relaxed vibe and it was great to meet and chat with other travellers. Everything we needed for our stay.

Not to keen on the shared bathroom, we had intellectual disabled ladies who would come out of the showers not knowing anyone was there. shock for them and others.

None of the staff were particularly friendly - in fact, most seemed pretty miserable to be working there. I know they're likely backpackers working for accommodation, but they should still be expected to do a decent job. Cleaning in the rooms and communal areas needs improving - it's clear cleaning is done, but it's not thorough. The towels and bathmat in our room were also covered in grubby marks and stains. The WiFi setup is awful. Having to log in with a new code every day was annoying, plus the signal was poor and regularly cut out. On a practical note, it would be useful to have a shelf in the bathroom and either a small rail/ hooks to hang clothes.

Decent budget option for a private room in Paihia. The room was a good size for two people, with a comfy bed, a decent shower and a free-standing fan. We were a little apprehensive about noise from communal areas in the evenings, but we needn't have worried as other guests respected the hostels' quiet hours policy. The communal kitchen was well equipped.

Toilets and showers are shared unisex facilities which isn't an issue there just aren't many of them for the amount of people. Having said that it was never overcrowded just something to consider.

#12 ...no shelf nor towel rail in the bathroom. This is one of my pet peeves...such a small thing, such a big difference to me, don't have to put everything on the floor. C'mon guys, it's a cheap fix.

I wish there was a closet or a platform to hang my clothes. I also wish the lighting to be better, it's quite dim inside. Otherwise everything else is great

I was happy with Peppertree Lodge and Backpackers and would stay there again.

Spacious, openness of layout. Obedience of people cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen. Nice to receive respect from other people in their cabins.

My only gripe is the wifi wasn’t very strong and I needed a new code every day to activate. Not much use when I was checking out before office opening hours.

Wifi was pretty bad for most of my week stay. Only 2 power sources in the room so multiple cables reaching beds across the floor was a tripping hazard. Lack of curtains is always disappointing.

Well run excellent located hostel in Paihia. Towels provide with large eating/lounge area to socialise. Bbq & outdoor garden area also with seating. Upstairs book exchange was great.

Bed and bathroom were generally clean, but the room could do with a deepclean: shower and curtains had stains that looked a bit moldy and one of the pillow slips was stained. Quite thin walls, you could hear people talk next door. Also, ask for a room further away from the common area/room, although the hostel makes an effort to ensure silence after 10 pm. A bit pricey for what you get.
