Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Staff were not helpful, asked for an early check in no luck, checked out a day early no refund even though lots of notice, wouldn't post a small item i left behind by mistake

The mattress was a little flogged out, the single chairs in the lounge were grubby, our phone was locked in an interconnecting room which we could hear ringing when family was trying to get hold of us! And we had no milk or toilet paper the following morning. Through a Saturday night was very noisy while we were trying to sleep..
We booked Quest for its proximity to the Nelson Cathedral for a family wedding we were attending.

Very nice to have the washer/dryer in the room. The fire doors blocked noise from the hallway so it was very quiet in the room.

Unfortunately the dryer in room 501 didn't work after we had washed our clothes and were unable to dry them before repacking them in our luggage.
Courteous, friendly service from reception staff and the location exceeded our expectations

Nothing - all perfect
Right in the heart of the city, it is spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and an incredibly well equipped kitchen. I could not fault it. If you are staying at the weekend you can park for free at the public car park next door.

Parking was charged extra to the already high room rate and was on a first come, first served basis. The room was quite cramped and lacked a sofa/sitting area.. Our room backed onto a carpark and was close to a hotel so was very noisy at times. The dishwasher malfunctioned early on in our stay and was unable to be repaired by staff. We stayed in many places in NZ and this was definitely the poorest value for money at nearly $300 per night.
Clean and modern. Walking distance to shops and markets. Washing machine worked well. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

The bathroom was tiny, compaired with the rest of the unit, and there was little vanity top for putting my toiletries. The shower stall was too tiny, and the shower door opening was too close to the toilet.
The room was spacious, and the view was panaramic, from the town centre to the hills surrounding the town. there was plenty of space for storing my things, except in the bathroom. The kitchenette was well stocked, except I only used it for making my breakfast.

There were a a few blown light bulb in the rooms. Unfortunately for us on this occassion there was no available parking.
Very comfortable bed - and impeccably clean. We appreciate that. Also - a good shower (also very clean) + decent water pressure.

price was more than I was quoted when the room was booked, THERE WAS NO CUPBOARD or shelf space living out of a suitcase for 7 days is not very good, seating was not very good

Noise….internally doors very noisy and could hear people at times. Externally very noisey from passing traffic on the Saturday night.

Took an hour to get to my room, from arriving at hotel. Receptionist not on site? Then had to set up computer on front desk find booking etc Very poor front desk manner and not even a greet or apology. Very poor.

Only got two towels when I asked for more reception said cleaning staff had gone home and he didn’t have a key to get in cupboards
