The rooms felt tired and the beds felt old and not very comfortable

Room was needing a bit of updating. The floor was really uneven in places which was a bit strange - like lumps under the carpet. We had breakfast in the morning which was ok, but the tables were in a sorry state with chips and scratches. Again very uneven floor.

Room had zero sound proofing so had a terrible nights sleep. Rooms very dated and smelly Toilet ran all night $400/ night is ridiculous. We stayed in beautiful air bnbs and hotels all around the South Island for less. Wouldn’t stay again

Bathroom was ridiculously small and dysfunctional for 2 people. Double bed is not acceptable as a reasonable size for 2 people in current times. Decor was daggy and unattractive. Room was not priced commensurate with facilities/decor. External of building old and unattractive.

Friendly staff, great location and views. Would have been even better if the log fire was lit as we would have had a few drinks in the bar.

We were booked here but upgraded to the Te Waonui hotel so please recognize that this review is actually of that facility. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. We enjoyed the Chef’s 5 course Degustation at the Canopy Restaurant at the hotel. Breakfasts provided plenty of variety. This was a great base to visit both Fox and Franz Josef glaciers.

A bit tired and in need of updating the decor, especially the bathroom, a dodgy shower over the bath, not good. The food in the restaurant was not that good.

Room smelt like it was an ex smoking room, was tiny, and dated decor. Bed was uncomfortable and was lopsided, the rightside of the bed sloped downwards, felt like you were slipping out of bed all night. Also did not like being on the main road, very noisy. Would not recommend or stay here again.

The restaurant food, the outdated bathroom, the airless room, the old mattress etc etc etc

Nothing - the room was airless, no air conditioning, chipped bathroom sink, a broken part of the shower controls, old towels and a bathroom at least 30 years old. The mattress had a slope and there was a spring sticking out. Breakfast was average, if you could locate food. Empty trays, no bowls and an empty coffee urn. We asked when breakfast was served as we had a helicopter ride scheduled early. We were told 7am but when we arrived at 7am it was so crowded, there wasn’t a spare table. I will never stay there again and would discourage anyone thinking of paying (a lot of) money to stay there.
