Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesParking is limited, otherwise you're parking across and up Hamilton Road.
Perfectly located to get around Queenstown. Did the Ben Lomond Peak Trail to the summit via the Tiki Trail which starts just down the road from the hostel (only hike I didn't have to drive to). Clean, with a common room more like someone's home than a hostel. Light, charging point and place for small items, plus small curtain, at the head of the bed is a nice touch.

United KingdomThe staff were super friendly, helpful and good at cleaning. The hostel offered activities on an evening, we joined in with the outdoor yoga which was a great experience overlooking the mountains. The hostel had 3 kitchens and plenty of fridge and food storage. The location was a short walk from the centre of Queenstown.

United KingdomSeriously? Nothing!
Bunk/cabin beds were comfortable with individual charging points and a lamp, plus a curtain for added privacy. The staff were lovely (thanks to Amelia for your advice), plus free yoga with the lovely Sophie! Kitchen was spotless and well-equipped. The vibe was chilled and friendly, and the hostel is located with a short walk into town, and there is the Ramon-factor! Loved my two nights there.

AustraliaI think the price could have been lower for what it was, but otherwise I enjoyed my stay.
The bathrooms and kitchens were super clean because the long-term stayers clean them daily, which is much appreciated. Everyone cleans up after themselves and there is a nice atmosphere. I really like that everyone got a big locker under their bed. There were some free activities too Location is great - 10 min from the centre of town/beach and 3 min from a supermarket.

GermanyThey do have a couple parking spots but only like 4 so parking can be a bit tricky.
It has an amazing location with only a couple minutes walk into the town centre. Beds are quite comfortable and have little curtains. The showers are clean although the water pressure could be better.

United KingdomThank goodness I had help with the stairs as my bag was a bit unmanageable.
Not sure if it was done on purpose but enjoyed the fact that the people I shared with were older travellers like me. Location was great and facilities were kept clean. My request for a lower bunk was honoured; very grateful.

GermanyThe main inconvenience was the wait for the bathroom. On our floor there was one bathroom and it was almost always in use. There was one other bathroom and extra toilet on the groundfloor, but that does not seem enough in my eyes for a fully booked hostel with several dorm rooms and a few privates. Queenstown is a pricy destination, but for 90 EUR a night I expected not having to wait for the bathroom that much. Afterwards we stayed in Te Anau and got much more bang for much less buck, including a room which shared the bathroom with only one other private. The wifi worked, but requested a sign in every time.
There were a lot of positives, from the friendly check-in with swan towels on the bed to the nice private room with balcony.

CanadaFridges and freezers needed to be cleaned out more often, freezer downstairs no longer works and not sure how long it's been like that but I opened it and it stunk so bad from the rotten food in it. Also wish the curtains went all the way to the end of the bed but it did the trick.
Beds, storage and rooms were great! Staff were excellent! It is the perfect walking distance into town and to everything Queenstown, I enjoyed my stay!

CanadaLimited number of bathrooms/showers and best to do laundry at the laundromat down the road.
Super friendly and clean hostel. Lots of things going on but easy to find a spot to chill too. The beds have mini privacy curtains on them that are about 1/3 of the bed so you get a bit of personal space. Little reading light and 2 outlets. Good sized under bed luggage lockers.
