The access system is electronic with a bar code key. Unfortunately my key got a problem at night, so I wasn't able even to go to the toilet because the door of my room closed automatically. There is emergency number, I called it but none replied. Moreover, they close the kitchen at night and if you leave food inside the kitchen as they ask you and you wake up early as I did to go to Milford Sound, there is no way to take it. Again I called the night manager, but no reply.

The facilties weren't super modern and there were only 3 toilets, but I never had to wait for anyone so this didn't bother me.

I really liked this hostel, there was a good vibe. The beds were comfy, there was abundant storage space in room. The staff are amazing, super friendly and helpful. There are 3 kitchens (so lots of cooking space) and lots of spaces to sit and socialise.

The upper bunk bed sometimes makes a noise when you try to turn on either side, but other than that everythings great!

The evening before I was supposed to check out, suddenly a different new guest opened the door of my (private) room with a room card and claimed she is checked-in for this room. I was surprised and shocked, but I knew I was right, so there was nothing to worry about for me. :) However, of course it was some kind of misunderstanding from the reception and I suppose the new guest then received the correct information about the room number and a correct room card. Nothing terrible, but also nothing I want to experience again. :D

The hostel was very nice - perfect family-like atmosphere. It was quite a small house, but with 3 kitchens, 3 bathroom, living room and (I think) 4 rooms upstairs for the backpackers. I stayed in a private bedroom, which was fine. Comfortable bed, spacious balcony with seating and mountain view - very nice! I also liked the check-in process. Caitlin checked me in and then she showed me all the rooms and what is where. I liked it very much.

On our floor there was only one toilet (there were more one or two stairs down). The mattress was quite thin I could feel the slatted base.

Staff was very friendly. Kitchen was clean and bathrooms too. Enough space to cook and store food. Also liked the little curtain near the bed and that there was enough storage space in the rooms.

Not enough toilets and showers, was often waiting to use the shower or go to the toilet. Weird smell in the bathrooms and bedrooms, like bad cleaning supplies. Bike rental had no locks and not really rental, but just bikes available to use.

Good location and all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, along with being accommodating with requests and questions. Nice lounge with TV and games.

Excellent facilities for storing food and items, staff were friendly and helpful whenever needed. WiFi worked and beds were really comfy and each one had 2 plug sockets and a curtain so you could have privacy. Also it was super cheap and just a 10 minute walk (if that) from the centre of town. What's not to like?

I wasn't there long enough to dislike anything. I kept to myself and the places I did venture to were clean and quiet.

The locality of the place was great. Quick walk into town. Couldn't hear the hustle and bustle that other places are able to.

The mattress was quite worn and sunken in and the bed creaked and made noise every move I made.

Easy check-in process, even later in the day. The rooms were very quiet in the evening and night time. Two kitchens is also very nice to have available.

The kitchen could have more appliances. When the kitchen is closed (because it's over a bedroom) then there's no access to a table with chairs to have dinner.
