We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

RomaniaThe camp itself is comfortable and cosy. The home made dinner and breakfast were great. But what made this stay extra special was the host Salim, who was amazingly hospitable, engaging and keen to fulfil even the most surprising requests. That afternoon we ended up on top of a dune sandboarding after a crazy dune bashing ride. The next morning we went to see a camel race. I recommend taking the extra trips Salim is offering - they will make the memories for a lifetime.

Only 3 tents in the camping. Like a family. Saleem the owner is a really kind, respectful, helpful and well-mannered omani gentleman! He tells interesting stories and everything about the desert. The bed was perfect. The dinner and the breakfast was the best in Oman. We could not choose better, than this placd.

NorwayIf you are looking for the least commercial desert experience in the otherwise commercialized Bidiyah desert area, this is the place to choose. Salim - an extremely carrying and generous host gives you a unique insight into his country's and Beduin's culture.

Easy and in time pickup at meeting point. Very big, new, confortable and warm tent. Great bed. In the camp there are only 3 tents: almost a private one. Intimate atmosphere. Breakfast and dinner very tasty and well cooked. Saleem is a very polite and smiling host, always ready to help and satisfy your request. A special thank to him for all the experiences he let us try, expecially for the falcon reovery.😅 Emanuela and Alessandro

NorwayIt’s nicely put away from the “main” desert road, behind the dune 🙂 Salem, the owner is very friendly and involved! He has a lot of Beduin knowledge to share so just ask him any question, you’ll be surprised by the answer. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Very comfortable beds, like in luxury hotel 🤗

United KingdomWe stayed at Clouds Desert Camp for three nights, over a weekend. We disagree with a recent negative review and would hope it does not deter others from staying here, they had incorrect information. - Salem and his colleagues were fantastic hosts with exceptional hospitality. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and provide a genuine Omani experience. - The facilities were clean and well maintained. Our tent included a double and single bed, with provided toiletries and fresh towels. The toilet/shower room is at the back of the tent and is open roof! The bed was perfect and the mattress was medical, so very comfy. - We took part in various activities that Salem organised for us; dune bashing, camel riding, sand boarding, after dinner fire and show, a personal tour to a locals weekend camp and also to meet his family. - The food was delicious. All meals were home made, healthy, carnivore and vegetarian/vegan friendly, buffet style with seconds/thirds encouraged! - If you’re into animals, this is the perfect place to go; we saw many different animals on the way and at the camp, including donkeys, goats, baby camel, horses, Arabian deer and desert hamsters (so cute). - There are many charging points and plugs within the main dining area, so it easy to recharge phones. - Tea, coffee, biscuits and dates are provided during daytime hours in the open top dining area. There is unlimited water in 250ml bottles so need to bring your own. - The camp workers, a Tanzanian and two Bangladeshis, were very friendly, made great conversation and fulfilled any requests that we had. We can’t express enough gratitude towards Salem for providing such a fantastic experience, this has been our most enjoyable holiday, ever. He is very caring, approachable and generally a great human being. We felt honoured to be treated so well and he feels like a brother rather than a tour guide.

CanadaIt was perfect. Host was born and raised in the desert so you will get an authentic experience.
This was the perfect desert experience with host Salem. Tents had plenty of room with big comfortable beds. There is a separate lounge area for guests. This is not a five star luxury experience, it is the desert, water is brought in, lights are solar powered. There are only three guests tents so you have lots of privacy. Enjoy sand dunes, camels and star gazing.

United StatesLike most of the desert camps here, the camp sites are placed here seasonally. We didn’t realize this but ofc it makes sense that folks don’t per se own the land they are on. What’s special about this one is that the proprietor (Salem) specifically chose to plant roots on top of a sand dune. What this means is that the views are spectacular. We decided to wake up before sunrise to hike up a higher dune point and witness sunrise and it was just unreal. We also had no neighboring campsite, which was the initial draw and it definitely lived up to expectation. P.S. Salem used to co-run and still helps family who runs Moon Light Camp. This is ofc a newer one but wanted to call out that you’ll likely experience similar quality of service and hospitality as the other camp reviews state. The other value add here is that should there be any issues (not something you should expect) that Salem knows the area quite well and can probably draw help from his local community and family. The beauty of the Bedouin way! Also don’t forget to ask about dune bashing or visiting his family’s free range camels!

The night at the Clouds Desert Camp was just amazing. The camp is far away from the city and from other camps as well, so you won’t hear anything once you get there. As we didn’t have a 4x4, we were picked up from the desert’s edge where we could park our car. We loved the hospitality, the great food (we were invited to an iftar dinner with the host’s family), the peaceful atmosphere in the desert and the beautiful sunset and sunrise.

United KingdomCloud Desert Camp is the perfect place to stay to restore peace of mind, and as soon as I left, I wish I’d booked to stay longer. The setting is tranquil; the sand is soft, the stars are bright and bountiful and the sunrise and sunset are beautiful. The tents are spacious and the beds are super comfortable. My visit was during the middle of March. It started to get warm around 8am and it was a dry 34 degrees during the day. It gets comfortably cool at night, ideal for sleeping. I was solo travelling during Ramadan and I arrived at the camp alone, due to this, I was kindly invited to have dinner with Salim’s family. On the first day I went dune bashing and to see the camels. The second day, Salim took me on a longer drive through the desert. We passed wells, that are identifiable by the trees that grow next to them: the trees are sign of life. Farms of bees that eat from the tiny yellow flowers (I believe to be Cleome pallida Kotschy); a self-sufficient school, people’s homes and the beautiful Al-Karim Mosque. The second night, Salim suggested I sleep on a dune in the desert (with a blanket and pillow) so that I didn’t miss the sunrise. A wonderful suggestion. I got to lie under a blanket of stars with a bright moon above me. When I woke during the night, the earth had rotated, the moon had gone below the horizon, and the stars were even brighter. When I woke up, I was warm, comfortable and looking directly at the sunrise. What more could anyone want? I loved the food and Salim was a perfect host. He even bought me a slice of cake and put a candle in it, as I’d told him it was my birthday! He treated me more like a dear friend than a customer; I found this common across Oman, that the people are very friendly. I’ve never been to a country where I felt as safe as I did in Oman. I was blown away by this country. It truly is magical and out of the 5 places I stayed, the desert was the most memorable and the biggest pull to take me back.

BulgariaWe stayed for 2 nights. This is a perfect camp for the real desert experience. There are only 3 tents, so it’s very private. The bed is super comfortable and the tent is very spacious. There are no other camps in sight, even from the tallest dunes in the area. In contrast, most other tent camps are in crowded zones, where there are a lot of other camps in sight and vehicle traffic. We had the whole desert to ourselves day and night. A very special experience. Salim the host was very accommodating in true Bedouin style and was happy to ensure all our needs are taken care of. Getting to the camp is dunes bashing style, very fun. He gave us a tour of the desert. We saw 1 day old baby camel and drank fresh camel milk. It was amazing experience!
