Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Poor facilities. There was were too many annoyances, such as no stand to even put a piece of soap near the shower, toilet has some gas leakage that stinks at times etc

To be honest - for this price range, I don't have any complaints.
The check in and out were easy. The staff was very kind. I stayed in a private room with a bathroom. Both rooms were clean, the room was quiet and well equipped. Additionally, I felt safe at all times going out of the hostel and walk around the neighbourhood.

A bit far from main road and metro, have to walk uphill, a little/narrow common kitchen. At 10.00 hrs., have to wait staff outside 10 mins. Hot water not stable.

The bed was kind of noisy. Shower window hasn't curtain, I feel little exposed.

Cold water in the shower. Not a deal breaker, but not ideal. Some parts of room didn't seem that clean. harder to reach areas though, so easy to avoid.
Great location. Safe and relatively quiet area, but still near food options. Private room was good size. Not perfectly clean, but clean where you want it (bed, toilet, sink, etc)

There was lots of trash and no seating on the balcony. The fridges would also do with a clean out.
The receptionist Mina was lovely. The hostal is in a great location and lots nearby. The room was clean.

location is fine but not the nicest area
bed was comfy, rooms were spacious and air con'd. Nice to have a TV in the room to have a lazy evening after exploring the city or returning from San Blas islands. Quick laundry service provided too which was a bonus

We liked just about everything. Small details - Kitchen was good but it's a small space. Wifi was usually good but occasionally was weak.
Super friendly and helpful staff especially the young lady. Very clean, spacious rooms.

Cold showers. There was a significant amount of rubbish in front of the hotel, which was a shame
Sizable room with AC and ensuite. Inhouse laundry facilities. Friendly staff. Decent value for Panama City

We enjoyed staying here, our room was spacious and had a kitchen so we could cook our own meals. We slept really well, the shower was hot and we had airconditioning. The metro is around 10 minutes walking and little supermarkets and bakeries are nearby! The area felt very safe. Perfect for a few nights in Panama-City.

Minimum equipment in the kitchen have to buy oil, pepper etc.

Great Location near the Via Argentina which is one of prettiest walks in Panama City with restaurants, bars, night clubs and parks.

Many things missing in the room (soap, towels,...). We received everything, but it was annoying to go to the lobby a couple of times.

The lovely woman at reception was absolutely invaluable with her assistance when our flight was cancelled. She let us use the hostel phone to call the airline, and called us an uber for a really early morning trip to the airport, and I don't know how we would have sorted it without her help. Thank you so, so much!!

Please check your TV. It was not working.
Nice staff, no frills, but everything needed is there. It's good to know that there is no warm water available, but this is no problem due to warm temperatures.

The bed was OK but the pillows were awful and need replacing. There was also no hot water at all in the shower. Finally, I stayed for 8 nights and there wasn’t any maid service during my stay which I think could be improved.
The hostel is in a good, safe location close to cheap restaurants and public transport (both buses and the metro). The room was spacious and the staff were friendly

It should have a coffee machine in the lobby that has coffee ready for guests, or at least be able to make a pot ourselves. The same pot of cofee was sitting there when we left, almost empty with no milk etc.
For the price, it was great value. A/c heat pump was very quiet and worked well, room was clean, we got a surprise bonus kitchen in our room which was really useful for eating takeaway dinner and having breakfast. Close to good cheap dinner options and a little grocery store and easy to walk to El Carmen subway. Neighbourhood seemed safe at night. For the most part the place was quiet and I got a good sleep.

The staff are fantastic. Carlos on reception was very very helpful. The hostel is very well located close to Via Argentina and bars, cafes and restaurants. My private room with balcony was a very good size, especially the balcony.
