Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The staff is great. Breakfast is very good. The place of the hostel is great. They have these little hike everyday which is fun

No hot water, but the description says that.
They organize tours/hikes everyday, which is amazing to get to know the area and meet new people. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the common areas are great to recover from your hikes. I also loved the yoga area.

I stayed 3 weeks in Panama and this was the best hostel for sure. Clean, nice vibe, a lot of activities (free hikes etc), comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, nice staff, delicious breakfast, beautiful backyard, good location.

A beautfiul place at the crossroad of the main attractions of the village. We had a great stay, the personnel is very friendly, they organize all kind of walks and events, the breakfast and the smoothies are delicious. We enjoyed the garden and the chill lounge atmosphere. We met some nice people, thanks, see you soon !

These are triple bads... staying in total with 14 people in a pretty small (and high ceiled) rooms...
The small garden at the back and small terrace at the entrance.

It could be cleaner especially all the sinks. Matress was old and had a dent where everybody slept. Sleeping in the top bed of three is not very convinient.
It is a very nice hostel with beautiful common areas. I booked the dorm so that is what I got. Very cheap and great breakfast. Water was warm and very helpful staff. I liked the open shower with wind gowing in but there were leaves everywhere.

The shower and the sinks should be in a normal building. For someone who uses contactlenses for example, it is bot higenic to put them in while the dirt can come in to the shower area as it is not fully covered.
The staff was amazing. The environment of the hostel is calm, good to relax with beds, sofas located in the garden also. The breakfast was amazing.

- Barely any space for your stuff in the dorm, so you have to move other people's stuff all the time to get to your stuff. - 2 showers for a lot of people, and the shower curtains didn't close the shower off properly. People were closing off the bathroom area to have some privacy because of that, but the rest had to wait longer to use a shower.

2 showers for each sex may not be enough, but it was not an issue at all during my stay. Ideally, I'd suggest to swap (or have an option to) pancakes with an egg(s). Hikers need their protein!)
Amazing staff, and awesome breakfast (2 type of fruit, and huge pancakes, with syrup and coffee).

The triple bunk beds are pretty shaky, I was thankful not to be put on a top bunk.
Super friendly hostel with group walks organised every day by volunteers. A good place to meet other travellers! The hostel is well located, there is a fresh produce market just down the road. Communal kitchen was handy and the garden is peaceful. Would recommend to anyone wanting a base to do some hiking and relax in El Valle :)

- What I didn't like at all were the rooms. They were triple bunk beds. An absolute no-go in my eyes - No shelf by the bed - Booking does not say that it is a 14-bed dorm. We would never have booked it that way. - The room is far too small for so many people. Super messy and not enough space for all the backpacks. Of course, it always depends on how tidy the guests are. - the mattresses rustle with every movement and so it is a bit uncomfortable to sleep

Pillows were not comfortable… But I had a similar experience in other hostels, so I guess they are what you pay for. Personally, I placed two of the provided towels under the pillow to be able to sleep. The fan did not rotate, but we didn’t ask for it to be changed because my parents said it was ok to leave it like that.
Location was perfect! And it wasn’t noisy despite being right on the Main Street. I really liked that there was a yoga room with mats, they came really handy to do my regular mobility exercises :D There are also multiple activities offered at the reception, we did the trip to Pozo Azul’s waterfalls and loved it! Highly recommended

No complaints! Great hostel!
Awesome location in the centre of Anton! Staff was super friendly and helped us plan activities for our stay. The place seems to attract some very chilled guests which was an added bonus. Our room was very simple but clean and comfortable. The shared bathrooms and kitchen were also well maintained. Plus the complimentary breakfast was delicious!

The staff was not very enthusiastic or active. Never enough coffee😢 and anyway only during breakfast time.
What a lovely place! Stayed for a full week! Loved the garden, the chill beds and the great kitchen!! The two volunteers were great guys, did. amazing hiking tours with groups from the hostel and were available for all questions all the times. THANKS- without you half the fun🙏🏻
