Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyRoom was very noisy, in part due to the outdated fridges, in part due to the poor isolation of the rooms. Most services were closed during our stay.
The hotel is a modernist marble, really really beautiful.

United StatesThe lack of tour opportunities was disappointing. The almost deserted town of Gamboa should be promoted by the lodge. It had interesting sites of the canal, railroad, and a few shops.
We liked the large room and large bathroom. The patio and the view was excellent. We enjoyed the large variety of food for breakfast. The visit to the sloth sanctuary was special.

Canadatiniest water bottles. No water fountain readily available. I wished they had a water dispenser in the room. Reception staff didn’t communicate information accurately. They would call a cab and said to us they take credit card but the driver would be upset because that wasn’t true and he had to wait for us to pull cash. Very frustrating We were also told dinner started at a certain time. We get there and they’d say they gave us the wrong time.
the view… and food. Overall I think it was a beautiful resort to stay at. It is near the city so that was nice

GermanyThe hotel has clearly some years behind it. The owner should invest some money in a restoration. It would be a real pearl.

United StatesThe bathroom and balcony doors were hard to close. There were no towels or staff at the pool. The front desk staff varied in terms of how helpful and friendly they were.
Gamboa Rainforest Reserve has a stunning location, with huge two-story windows in the lobby that highlight the Chagres River and lush forests beyond. The hotel was in good condition and the Monkey Bar had reasonably priced drinks and food. Our room was large with a hammock on the balcony for relaxing and enjoying the view. The bathroom was large and luxurious. The resort is also home to a sloth sanctuary and you can book rainforest and canal tours through the hotel itself, although we did not do that. There felt like there were only a handful of other people there, so nothing was ever busy or crowded.

ArgentinaCoffee served at breakfast! Confrontation with day manager over music being played by the pool. She failed to actually come down to the area to check what was going on which could have avoided the dreadful afternoon anyone who wanted to relax around the pool had. When she did eventually come down most guests had left the area and I had made two trips to reception; the hotel is huge; and we had suffered through 3 hours of madness. Poor
Breakfast was excellent; coffee aside. As were the buffet meals in general. The hotel itself is an opulent old relic. Still quite a place. Wonderful pool when the staff weren't allowing guests to pump out music at ridiculously loud levels. Tree trek/zip line was great fun. Breakfast staff was fantastic as was Victor on the front desk. Comfy room, amazing river view. The brass monkey foot rest at the monkey bar, just one if many fantastic details.

United KingdomThis hotel has a clear monopoly in the area and it really shows in the service and the general indifference of the staff and the tours desk. We were only able to stay one night and tried multiple times to get in touch (in 3 different ways) to book onto the night tour. Nobody from the tour desk bothered to reply and when we arrived (early pm) they told us the tours were fully booked. Grudgingly, they added another one at 9.30pm (not ideal for young children with an early boat ride the following morning) and then the half-hearted guide only did a 20 min tour using the excuse that his torch wasn’t waterproof (note: he works in a rainforest!!) Generally, we felt the staff were not that interested in customers (reception and pool bar the same!) and we left feeling that this hotel needs some local competition to help it pull its socks up a bit!
The rooms are nice - good size, with a great view. The pool is also good, as is the location. It was great to see lots of wildlife on the doorstep. It’s easy to walk to the local marina for boat tours (better value than the hotel options!) and to the town for food (we had amazing pizza at Treehouse).

United KingdomWe were early and the checkin clerk said the room is nearly ready. Two hour’s later we were still sitting in reception. Had the clerk been honest we could have got changed and waited by the pool. The room is a twin and I booked a double!! The room is very very tired. I have pics items they show signs of age and neglect. The iron is unusable due to burnt fibres. The chairs are stained. The tiles in the in the bathroom have been repaired badly!!
