Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyFridge in the room instead of in the hall would be nice.
A friendly place well situated in Bocas Town. We liked the balcony (and I would recommend not to book a room without). Nothing special, no luxury, but also nothing to complain about.

United StatesClose to the waterfront but no view from the balcony and street view from the restaurant. Small shower.
Owner is very friendly and helpful with local advice on renting bikes and activities. Discount for breakfast for hotel guests was a plus with many breakfast item options. Restaurant was a welcoming place for ordering food and sitting with a laptop or tablet or just relaxing.

United StatesEverything was great. The owner Dimitri was very friendly and helpful and was always there for when we needed something or had a question. The room is spacious, comfortable and clean and the hotel is very close to the center but not too close to the loud noises of the center. We loved this place so much that we extended our stay here to 6 nights. Highly recommended.

GermanyI had a hard time to pick a stay in Bocas, but I didn't regret picking this hotel. Even it not being one of the cheapest places in Bocas, it was really worth it! My room was big, had a fan and AC and a very spacious balcony. The bathroom had a lot of space as well and everything was very clean. There's a fridge for the guests to use in the hallway and a supermarket right across the street. Otherwise the location of the hostel is a couple of meters off the city center which makes it really quite and chill. Nevertheless you reach the center with a 3 minute walk, so it was perfect. Busses to Bocas del Drago and Playa Bluff pass the hotel, so you just have to get out and raise a hand. All the water-taxi docks are within a 5 minute walk. Even it being low season and not crowded in Bocas, the restaurant was operating and I got some delicious things to eat for breakfast and/or dinner. The coffee really wakes you up in the morning. But the best thing the hotel has is the owner Dmitry. He went above and beyond to make my stay as pleasant as possible, answering all of my questions, arranging a boat-trip, get me some breakfast, lunch, dinner, and providing me with every information I asked about. And I asked a lot! You can really feel that he lives for the place.

United KingdomEverything was great. however, a couple little suggestions would be to have a couple outdoor chairs on the balcony so we don't have to move the inside ones; And also a shower tray (to hold our soaps, shampoo, razor) would be a nice touch for added convenience so we wouldn't have to keep moving them from the sink or have them on the shower floor. Again, some minor things but these would be great to add to the room for future travelers.
Casa Max benefits from the human kindness of Dimitri, who is an exceptional host. Very caring, helpful and friendly. We got caught in tropical rainstorm on our 1st night and he provided us extra towels to stay dry and warm up. The wifi, AC and hot water shower worked well. We booked a very comfortable room with king size bed, fridge, and private balcony which was fabulous as it was not overlooked and felt really private. We had a view of the main road and the rooftops of the neighbouring houses. As we arrived on a Saturday, it was a busy weekend but after that the place was really nicely quiet and peaceful. The room felt clean. Our room was cleaned about every other day during out 6 night stay, and we got fresh towels each time. The breakfast option in the restaurant was great as we got a 20% discount for being guests at the hotel. I loved being able to have (very good tasting) coffee on the balcony in the mornings. Dimitri also provided us drinking water refills, which was great - to encourage refilling versus buying more plastic bottles. We support his conscious and green efforts here! We also liked having our own fridge so we could keep our water nice and cold during the hot September days in Bocas. The hotel felt very safe and it is perfectly situated very close to everything (literally 5-15 minutes walk to and from anywhere in Bocas town), but not in the middle of all the bars and noise. There is a supermarket conveniently situated across the road, but also several options in the town, including Pharmacy, medical centre, bank. The Square to catch the collectivo bus to Starfish and Bluff beach is also less than 10 minutes walk (at the town square), and the local Bocas airport also very easy to get to by taxi if needed. We could also walk very easily to any port to do a tour, go to Carenero Island (for Aqua or Bibi's and nearest beach), tranquil Bastimentos island, or back to Almirante for buses to David, Chiriqui, etc.

Costa RicaLook around for an excellent breakfast option around town, there are plenty. Make sure your AC works before accepting a room. Very tiny reduced shower space and hot water takes time to heat up, just be patient.
Breakfast is over rated, they charge you extra for each coffe cut. Bofore you order, make sure you ask for extra coffee cut or fruit salad. Make sure your AC is working before accepting a room. Mine did not even turn on. Very friendly staff, excellent location, walking distance to amenities.

United StatesNoisy, every morning, I didn’t sleep well. Not the fault of the hotel, but it’s the location. I had a balcony and all I could see was trash. Not the fault of hotel, but LOCATION! Woke up every morning with bites all over my legs and arms…. Bedbugs! Had to ask for towels, a broom… etc. We bought one breakfast here, one and done, the bacon was overcooked and like eating rocks!
Dimitri, the guy who manages the place is so kind and super friendly. The room was appointed.

PolandThe room number 13 has almost no daylight. The window face another building just 1 meter out, under the roof. And there are all aircon units there. So you must have the window closed. And use the artificial light all the time. And airconditioning to have any air. The washbasin is in the room.
location excellent, we did not have a breakfast.
