Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwedenToo little common space available, making it hard to find a place to sit and hangout. Also, since there is little space and no designated smoking area, you get quickly enveloped which as a nonsmoker isn't all that pleasant. The description of the bungalow mentions "consists of" bedroom and bathroom etc, and whilst that is available, it is common space(the labels are accurate but good to pay attention to). one of the toilets door was broken limiting usage
My bungalow was cute and nice. The location is great. The kitchen was spacious and there is plenty room in fridges and shelves for private food.

Germany- first night in the "dorm" which is simply an open area under the roof so you can hear everything when people start making noise in the kitchen even before 7 am; not enough lockers for the 8 beds in the "dorm" - the other nights we had the double room where the door was not in its angle anymore and it was always a hassle to open and close it; did not even get a discount although the door was already broken since a while what we heard from other guests; when another double room got free we weren't allowed to change the room although we offered to take our bed sheets and change it by ourselves - not so many bathrooms which got dirty quite quickly - no hot showers (yes, I have been to cheaper hostels in Central America with hot showers) - some cloth hangers, a mirror and repairing the loose sink in the outdoor bathrooms would be improvements already - the co-owner of the hostel was not really helpful and I had the feeling to annoy him with any question
- Staff who prepared breakfast was really nice - It was possible to use the washing machine and dryer for an okay fee - Kitchen was good - Nice flair

FinlandThe lady who works there really does not care about her job. She is beyond lazy (I really don’t use this word unless it’s necessary). We settled in our room and when we wanted to go out, we realised we didn’t have a key for the room. She was laying in the couch and we asked if we can get the key. She rolled her eyes and said there is none. We shockingly asked that do we need to leave the room open like that and she said yes. There were keys in the locks of all the other rooms, so we insisted that how come everyone else has a key then. She got up looking furious and went to get the key for us. We also had requested extra blanket from her earlier but you can all guess the outcome. Inside the room there is only a bed, no night tables so you’ll have all your stuff on the floor. The shared bathrooms are just unfinished cement rooms with mud on the floor with a toilet and a sink (no soap to wash your hands, bin wasn’t emptied etc.). No hot water but the shower does its job. Breakfast is one pancake and some pieces of fruit, so nothing spectacular and doesn’t keep the hunger away for long. Also every night a group of dogs bark their lungs out, though this is not the hostel’s fault.
The real name of the place is Urbano jungle hostel and it describes it well. The rooms are cheap for Panama so you get what you pay for. The AC was good and they have it in every room type. The owner also got an extra blanket for us, he was very kind and gave us tips on what tours to do.

SwitzerlandThe hostel seems like it's not finished yet. Light bulbs are missing everywhere and it smelled like weed and mold in our room. AC was not working during the night. The staff was okay but they seemed like they don't want to work or explain stuff.
Breakfast is included and nice, outdoor area as well. Quiet but centrally located.

United KingdomThe dorm I was in was on a mezzanine floor (which was unique) but meant mornings were loud because of the open space between the room and the kitchen. Loud, constant reggaeton in the afternoon/evening made it difficult to socialise, but we were able to use the speaker to change the vibe, and quiet hours were always respected, so I can't complain.
Plenty of hammocks and social space. Big open kitchen and great breakfasts. Fun social atmosphere (once we hijacked the music) and I liked the mezzanine dorm with the ladder to access.

IsraelDorms are actually in the same space as the kitchen and showers - you have to climb up a ladder from the kitchen to get there. Some of the beds are just mattresses on the floor. Only 1 A/C for the whole space, which only turns on at around 21:00, and even then it’s not really felt. So basically there’s no A/C, and Santa Catalina is extremely hot.
Good vibe, very social. Location is good - right across a fruteria and supermarket, 5 minutes to the close beach and about 20 minutes to the surfing beach. Fully equipped kitchen and lots of refrigeration space. The hostel offers shuttles and fairly cheap tours to Coiba

Germany2 of 4 Bathrooms were without light, so quite some waiting if you wanted to shower in the evening. The breakfast was a single pancake and some fruits, so not very much.
Very good location on the Main Street. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The AC in the bungalows was very useful and it cooled the room for the night.

Nicaragua- given how expensive it is, it's ridiculous that they don't accept card payments (the only accomodation I stayed at in Panama which didn't) - we stayed in the "bungalow" option, which is just a poorly built shack which was incredibly hot, had non-functioning AC, a sagging mattress on the ground, and was nothing like described in the listing - the "bungalows" have no real ventilation and large cracks and gaps everywhere which allow in bugs, but no mosquito nets. Same with the rooms. In general bugs are expected, but make sure you wear mosquito repellent, as I contracted Denge while staying here - there wasn't ever any real effort to encourage guest interaction of any kind by the staff, so it was mainly just groups of travelers doing their own thing until we specifically put in effort to bring people together - the entire place is currently under construction, so the bathrooms didn't even have lights, in bathroom door couldn't even be locked, there were issues with water, etc. - It's definitely not a "party hostel", and since there is only one small patio out front to relax, it's not a "chill hostel" either. Might be better once they finish aöö tj construction though, as it seems as though they are expanding (?). - I wouldn't return, but assuming it's the cheapest option available, and you're just looking for a place to sleep while you explore the area, it's fine.
- around a 30min walk to the main beach - nice restaurants in the area (I suggest the place directly across the street) - staff seemed nice enough, assuming you didn't get on their bad side - they had a "group dinner" during one of the three nights we stayed there, which was $7 and tasty. Would have been a great opportunity to encourage socializing, but instead people just grabbed their food and scattered.

GermanyThe 10 bed dorm is open to the reception and to the kitchen. Bed time is from 10.30 pm on, so before it‘s really loud and hot because the A/C is not on yet. Also one of the two bathrooms was the public toilet for everbody, so it was dirty all the time and often there was no toilet paper. There was not really a light upstairs so it was hard to get my bag packed again when leaving because it‘s also dark there during day time.
Very open minded people, they like to cook and have people around, it‘s like coming home to friends. It‘s pretty small, so you get in touch with everyone and the chill areas were very welcoming so that people from other hostels stayed there, too. Everybody could bring their friends.

South AfricaNot all of the beds in the upstairs dorm have access to plugs which is a bit inconvenient. The single bathroom is also tough to share between everyone.
The small, open-plan structure makes it feel really homey. After a day or two everyone is chatting in the kitchen and on the patio having a good time. The kitchen itsself is great with gas stoves and lots of good pots and pans which is always great!

ItalyOnly one thing to point out is the one bathroom for all the people, in "rush hour" might lead to some long waiting.
Loved this hostel from the first moment!! Pablo is an excellent host, was perfectly helpful, explained everything of the town and drove us to the beach and helped everytime I needed. I prolonged my stay of two days because I enjoyed both the town and the hostel. There was a good mood also with the other travellers, and i instantly fell in love with Isis, the kitten living there!!
