Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Comfy bed and good facilities! The room felt a bit dark as it didn’t have a window to the outside (only the court yard), but fine for a few nights. The staff were lovely and helpful!

Nothing! Thank you Joel and family for the amazing stay, we will come back if busing Cusco again
Joel and his family run this well organised Hostal. It is extremely quiet and the location is INCREDIBLE - much better than the expensive options closer to the Plaza de Armas (where it is loud, and everything around is expensive). To give an example, we could walk 100m down the safe and quiet, well-lit street and reach a mini mart selling water for 3.5sol (you would expect to pay 8-10sol for the same. There is fantastic laundry for a good price within the hotel. Joel organised tours and taxis for us with much professionism. Not too loud especially at night, which is important when you need to be asleep by 7pm to be up by 3am for tours

You wouldn´t expect it the moment you enter the building, but the room was amazing and was very nice. Better than some more expensive hotel rooms. Big room and super clean. Even a heater in the room.

The only thing we would change is maybe an extra pillow each, or fluffier pillow.
The location was great, only a 10 minute walk to the town centre, but far enough out for a quiet nights sleep. The family who run the hostal are wonderful, so friendly and helpful!

Amazing hosts, room was clean, full of amenities, warm and quiet. Exactly what I needed and they also booked me an early (05:30) taxi and waited for it with me! HIGHLY recommend

Nothing not to like!
This Place is fantastic. The value you‘ll get for your money is outstanding. Apart from that, the owners are a lovely family, who are at service anytime during the day. As soon as you ask them something you‘ll get it within minutes. They were so nice! Rooms have heaters and TVs as well. I stayed here three times I was always able to store my luggage when I did multi day trips, and felt always welcomed. I‘ve honestly never been to a better hostel.

Currently in construction.
Close to the center. Amazingly nice host. Made sure all your needs were met and exceeded expectations. Even had a heater in the room.

Very cold and humid. The shower water was either extremely hot or cold. Also there was no natural light in our room.

At the end of the day, it's a hostile you get what you pay for no heating in a frozen 5° room

The bathroom looks like a botched job. It’s tacky and the hostel itself is blend.
Property is clean and the Wi-Fi and hot water work. But, it’s an old building with exposed pipes and the wallpaper was peeling. Good value for $20 a night but nothing special.

My room was right off the main courtyard and the other guests felt it necessary to run and yell early in the morning or when coming in for the night.
Close to everything. Short beautiful walk to town square or whatever. Loved the proximity to restraunts and cafes. Very little traffic after 10pm.

We stayed 6 nights in May and changed 2 rooms 301 and 202.. Both Rooms was humid and cold. No heaters. It was difficult to sleep with multiple blankets and wollen caps to warm up. Not very well isolated, you hear noises from other rooms as early in the morning till late at night. Its perfect to just crash at night but if you're looking to relax its not a great place.
Wifi was excellent, smart tv. Big enough with wardrobes. No problem with the showers. They sell water in the reception for an acceptable price. Coca tea and other tisane available all time for free. The person at the reception was nice. He can't speak English but communication was easy with the google translator. Can't expect help to book tours or buses but plenty of places around which does that.
