Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

RomaniaEverything: the location (near markets and restaurants, but quiet at night - you can only hear the river who crosses the village), the room was spacious, clean and very nice decorated, the best hot shower. Also, the young couple that prepared us the breakfast deserves a rise :)

United KingdomNothing! The owner / manager asked us for any pointers for how they could improve as its a new hostel, and we couldnt find anything :) Only point to note is there are now 2 supertramp hostels in Agua Caliente which we didnt realise when booking so ended up going to the old one first. Luckily we got a room in the new hostel but worth checking when you book as they're other sides of the town to each other.
EVERYTHING! Genuinely couldnt fault this hostel. We had the private double ensuite room (even though we booked shared bathroom) which was super modern, well equipped and comfy. Towels were provided, free breakfast was banging (varies between pancakes, omelettes and crepes), and the staff were super friendly and helpful! Would 100% recommend this to anyone visiting Agua Caliente!

PeruThe room: too small for 10 people and all the windows were closed. It was smelly inside. The noise in the terrace. There were people partying and I could not sleep well.
The breakfast was OK. Jessi's kindness was a few of the things I liked.

United KingdomThe breakfast we got was a bread roll and a banana which wasn’t exactly what we expected when it said free breakfast, and there was no wifi despite what they said. Also the room was very loud.

United KingdomNot the most comfortable stay while at Machu Picchu. Though maybe to be expected with hostels. When booking through booking.com, the price is in usd only, no soles. When you arrive they charge a different rate than you booked online. Ie if booking.com said the accom is 100usd and rate was 3.85soles (thus soles price was 385soles). When you arrive they tell you they use their own made up soles to usd rate of 3.5sol. Thus the usd you owe when you arrive will actually be 385/3.5 =110usd. We mentioned that they should be charging what they agreed online but were told that the discrepancy is because 'aguas Calientes is more expensive than cusco'.

The staff was so gentle. Free hot drinks are such a detail during winter. Showers were clean and hot water during all day.

SwedenMy girlfriend and I stayed in our own room in a separate building from the dormitory. We just like most people were going early to Machu Picchu. Everyone who goes to this hostel goes for the specific reason that they want to see this historical site. I was very surprised when I opened our door to see that the blond cleaner was screaming just outside of our room that we booked and had a party with her friends and kept me and my girlfriend awake so we only got 3 hours of sleep. Our room had windows toward the building where the dormitories are and could see the police coming. Found out from the staff the following day that it was due to the loud noise. They had 3 WiFis and none of them worked during our stay.
Overall, the lack of sleep due to the staff being loud makes the positives quite bleak compared to the negatives. The restaurant was good and had a fair price compared to most other restaurants in agua caliente. and the staff was very nice when they did not keep us awake at night.

TaiwanNo signal in my room, the wifi practically doesn't work, no outwards windows in the room, the common spaces are really uncomfortable for anything other than having a beer and smoking a cigarette (forget reading a book or doing any work). All fine if you paid for a cheap bunk bed, but for the pricey private rooms I would expect something better. Also lots of noise...

Germanythe private rooms are in a separate building, in which it gets very loud during the night (people running up and down the stairs, yelling and partying until late). lacking isolation of the windows makes it even louder with all the noise from the little plaza outside.
luggage storage available and very kind staff trying to support in any way possible.

MexicoWifi was not reliable and would often go down, this is not great because you don't have good reception there so no reception and wifi down you're pretty much screwed.
The staff was amazingly helpful and friendly, they go out of their way to help you out and feel welcome. Complimentary breakfast was really good.

NetherlandsMost dirty hostel i ever stayed! Everything was sticky and smelling. Even the sheets are dirty. The cleaning is so bad. The rooms and badrooms has no window for ventilation. One room for shower and toilet, the smell is so bad. And the noise is horrible. They advertise sound proof room that is a lie! The noise is so horribele, you can hear everything, people talking, the music is loud from the bar. The next day, everybody was complaining about the noise and couldn’t sleep. Don’t book this hostel!!!

GermanyThe wifi was not working at all. We could connect to the wifi networks but they did not seem to be connected to internet. It was also very loud from both the hostel and the neighborhood until midnight or so.
The beds were extremely comfortable and so were the pillows. The showers were hot.
