Lovely little place to stay with great hosts, who have a nice balance between interacting with guests and allowing them their own space. They have set the space up really well to manage this. Everything an independent traveller needs is there! Thank you.

The most affordable option in the whole of Bora Bora
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveler
    • Single Bed in Mixed Dormitory Room
    • Stayed 5 nights

It should be mentioned that meal options are limited, although this is by no means the host family's fault since full board and lodging is not what most hostel guests would prefer. The nearest supermarket is about 30 minutes' walk, and the only restaurant option in the neighborhood is the Yacht Club directly across the street. Also, while the hosts graciously make their own kitchen available to guests, it is the family's only kitchen and offers limited space for group cooking. There is a separate fridge and shelving in the dorm for guests' use, as well as a large table and chairs on the adjacent veranda.

While the location may not be optimum (Matira would have been better), this small hostel in a private home is without a doubt the most affordable option in the whole of Bora Bora. The host family was friendly and hospitable, the sleeping accommodation comfortable with several fans available to make the hunidity more tolerable, and the bathroom clean and functional. I thoroughly enjoyed my 5-night stay with Karren and her family, not to mention their cute little dog Vanilla.

    I liked everything.

When I arrived, I had just taken three flights from America to Bora Bora. From the moment I arrived at the Raihei hostel, I was taken care of, made to feel comfortable, great communication and support, a lovely family.

Everything was perfect, I wish I could have stayed longer, will definitely come back !

This place is all about the hosts who are genuinely wonderful human beings. Since they are locals to Bora-Bora, they can give you plenty of tips on how to fill your day with jaw-dropping activities and experiences. Place itself was really clean, bed was fresh and clean too, internet worked great, breakfast and dinner were super yummy. Possibility to do laundry and to rent a bike.

    Backpackers perfection for Bora Bora

Ideal budget option for solo backpackers, had a better stay here than in Tahiti hostels Great hosts, Karren speaks good English and has good recommendations and offers available. First time staying in accommodation within someone's home, but didn't feel intrusive, you are as welcome to include yourself as much as you are comfortable with (for example I didn't join the family for dinners, but saw others do it nightly) and it created a comfortable vibe between the travellers like me who had been away from home for long spells Adorable house dog (miss you Vani)

All I wanted in Bora Bora was basic accommodations. This fit the bill. They did have a dormitory type setting in the living room for people. I was glad I upgraded and had my own room and bathroom but honestly I would have been ok with the dormitory type beds also. I was pleased with everything here. I did lagoon excursions both days. This place was great to come back to and rest. Super market was a 20 minute leisure walk and the main town maybe 10 minutes more. They offered bikes to rent. I used the first day

The family whose house you stay in are very nice. My room had AC which I really only needed one night. Great basic accommodations. For extra you can dine with the family. Karren is an excellent cook. Please note you are staying in a family home. If you want to drink a lot and party please stay elsewhere.

The facilities could be more organized with places to sit outside, possibly a garden, also the room I stayed was a bit cluttered and the outside of the house.

Location is great, 30 min walk from city center, 15 min from USTORE, right next to Yacht Club. The hostess spoke English, and booked a day tour snorkeling for me, also they gave me a taxi ride back to the ferry. Bora Bora is expensive so for this price it's a good budget option. Also it comes with tea/coffee, donuts, bananas free breakfast, wich is a bonus. They have a very cute dog called Vanila, she brings in a home touch atmosphere.

This place is amazing. You will have an authentic experience of Bora Bora with Karen and her family, they are all so kind and warm. Also, you have lots of comfort: clean restroom, hot water in the shower, decent beds. And, if you want to spoil yourself, you can go and see the sunset in the Yatch Club that is just across the street for Happy Hour. The Lagoon tour that Karen recommended was incredible, and she can rent you a bycicle so you can go around the island. This is a no brainer, and for the price that is offered, and in Bora Bora!

Just the bathroom should be kept much more cleaner.

I loved the concept of this family house accommodation. Karen and her family was lovely and very kind. She did extra mile, even helped me to sew my bikini as I had some issues with it and she got the sewing machine. She was doing also phone calls from her phone to check availability in resorts. She was always very helpful to answer any question and give advices. The husband too, but only Karen speaks english;) Location is great and that the bikes are ready to use anytime.

    - Location - value for money - the dorm is basically in a living room. I even smelt a bit of urine smell from the toilet at night. - not even breakfast included for this price - I felt like it was only about making as much money as possible. You even had to pay for towels and a blanket. - I know in bora it’s touristy but this was definitely the most disappointing stay of my French Polynesia trip so far. Also I had stayed in bora in a hostel/camping on a motu which was cheaper and nicer. So I know even on bora bora it’s possible to stay somewhere nice with a lower budget. I just don’t like it when unjustified prices are charged because they can..
