Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
When first arriving at Fable, expect to be greeted with cooled refreshment towels and two beautiful dogs. The property is truly an oasis, covered with an abundance of plants and nature; this place is the perfect spot to relax and recharge from the chaos of travelling. Ervin, the owner is one of the most friendliest hosts i’ve met since staying in hostels. His knowledge about the island and activities is exceptional, meaning you can plan you’re trip hassle free. The hostel is social orientated, and Ervin often organises restaurant outings for his guests, a great to meet others, especially if you’re a solo backpacker. The facilities are above average, including loose leaf herbal tea (hibiscus range), coffee and plates and utensils should you need them. Rooms are clean and comfortable and showers and bathroom space is spacious and homely. I should also mention there is ample room to practice yoga should that be part of your routines. This hostel is by far one of the best hostels i’ve stayed in. A little taste of home. Thank you for being the best host, Ervin :)

United KingdomErvin is a fantastic host. The hostel he has built from the ground up is perfect for relaxing and socialising in the gazebo, and getting around to the best restaurants, beaches, and sights on the island. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms were always clean to a high standard. The grounds are beautiful with many native and tropical plants. A group of us went out to dinner and did activities with our host. The two dogs Agra and Gozo are a great addition providing endless entertainment I’d recommend this hostel to any type of traveller, don’t stay anywhere else in Siquijor than Fable 👍

AustraliaScooter hire is recommend as the location is a 30 min walk from the main San juan restaurants.
Ervin is amazing!! He has so much knowledge about all things Siquijor, the Philippines and the world. He is a fantastic host, so helpful and someone who feels like you’ve known forever. There is coffee and toast in the morning (coffee is amazing), dorms are so spacious and have aircon. Bathrooms were always spotless and there is a free collection of toiletries for use. The hostel is very green with a big garden, wifi is spotty but it is all over the island. Ervin taught me how to ride a scooter and organised transport to and from the port. Ervin is honestly incredible, and the hostel is so comfortable, I can’t wait to come back.

NetherlandsErvin/ Fable Hostel is incredible! He makes sure you have an amazing time in Siquijor by showing you the main highlights of the island, providing you with all the hotspots around, and helping out where necessary. The hostel is one of those you don't want to leave anymore because it has everything: Spacious dorm rooms (including hooks, space for your bags, lockers, bars for your towel, and AC), nice facilities, and breakfast to get you started. It's nearby all the important spots and just perfect for a stay in Siquijor.

SwitzerlandExpensive compared to other accomodations, definitely not the best value for money. And as other people mentioned, there was a rather superficial vibe (might just have been a coincidence based ln the people at that time though)

PhilippinesI liked how the hostel accommodated my transportation needs from the port and around the island the next day. I appreciated how kind they were in ensuring I got to the places I was hoping to get to on the island on time and by the most convenient means possible. Although restaurants and other resorts are nearby, I wish the hostel had its own in-house kitchen; that would have made one's stay there more at home and convenient. The facilities and shared bathroom and toilet are clean and well-maintained. The owner (Ervin) and his staff were friendly and easy-going, too.
