Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe showers were filled with plants and one of them became somewhat of a breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Lots of mosquitoes outside in the common areas, and they love me so I suffered. Wish they had a refrigerator for guests to keep leftovers since they don't have a kitchen. Backpacks have to be kept outside of the room in lockers which is a best inconvenient, but I was actually okay with it in the end since it cuts down on mess in the rooms and eliminates noise from people making a racket at night or in the morning packing up, so it's a somewhat smart design choice. Would not book the canyoneering through them because it is a 20-25% markup over the price you can get on the street.
This place is so nice! The dorm beds are expensive for the Philippines but they are the most comfortable capsule beds I've ever stayed in. The air conditioning is DEFINITELY functioning. I stayed in the 4-bed dorm room for a few nights and then extended one night in the 12-bed dorm and both were very comfortable - the bed curtains are amazing. The common area is very clean and well-decorated. Not much of a social atmosphere when I stayed there, but I was somewhat keeping to myself for the most part anyways. The bathrooms were kept very clean and there were a lot of racks for drying clothes/swimsuits. The location was amazing--a short walk down a side-path from the main road that eliminated a majority of the street noise from motorbikes/cars, which is a big problem in Moalboal. More expensive than the surrounding hostels and felt expensive for a dorm, but it was definitely the nicest hostel I stayed at in the Visayas.

DenmarkNothing really, except that the area is very touristy.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I got to know them a bit. The showers were the most beautiful I have seen! The location was good, close to everything yet quiet.

GermanyYou can definitely hear the digital locks if you are a light sleeper. Maybe the accoustic feedback could be switched off?!
It’s a rather small hostel. Eventho it was fully booked it was really quiet the whole time. Staff was exceptionally attentive and helpful! They accomodated any request immediately and it was spotlessly clean throughout my whole stay of 6 nights.

United KingdomNearby noise from another hostel event went on a bit late but it wasn't that bad.
Omg this was by far one of the best accommodation I stayed at on my travels around the Philippines. (And that includes hotels at other islands). The Staff Mercedes and Pearl were so lovely and super helpful. Actually every single staff member I spoke with went out of their way to help me from even letting me borrow their flip flops as I'd hurt my foot and staying up to let me in and show me around when my flight arrived late. The facilities are really good and I thought were really eco friendly but stunning too! Everyone was really respectful at the hostel so I lucked out! I stayed for 3 nights the beginning of Jan and their sister place hungry monkeys was delish to eat at. There's a lot of really lush places to eat and drink nearby too. Thank you so much for being great hosts, I really loved my stay here and would recommend to anyone!

TaiwanWifi was instable during the time we were staying so really can only depend on our own SIM data. There was a problem with hot shower, so we had hot water shower half of the time, cold the other. It was not too bad as the weather was hot anyways. The rest is good.
Location is great, in the alley from the busy street. Friendly staff, no breakfast option but you can have it across from the Maayong hostel for good price and value. We stayed in the private room and was given a private bathroom outside of our door. Good enough privacy. There is space at the common area to rest, and can hang your clothes dry easy. It looks just like the picture.

Iranthe road to the hostel is a bit damaged and when it rains , most of it goes under the water but that's not something related to the hostel.
That place was literally the best hostel i stayed in during my 3 months Philippines trip , the beds are super comfortable and modern , you have extra space beside your bed to put your daily using stuff , behind your head is also a place which there are lighting and again a small shelf to store your things , 4 plugs and hanger ; you get fresh and clean towels everyday ; the room gets clean every day , bathrooms and showers are outdoor with perfect view to the sky and also beautiful plants inside them which makes it even cooler . the place in general is very new and modern and they are doing their best for a great maintenance. they have also really good bowls to start you day with and enough other items in their menu. last but not least , the staff ! they are super friendly and they literally feel like you are a family member there , they do whatever they can to help you and make you stay memorable. Cheers to all of you guys !

BrazilJust as a suggestion, serving breakfast would make this place even better! They do sell some bowls, but eggs on the menu would be very handy too!
Staff are AWESOME, rooms are super clean and spacious, beds so comfy and very private with curtains, ac is always in a great temperature (24c - why other hostels don’t do the same?!). And the shower is a plus, so lovely! I ended up extending and if I’d stay longer in Cebu, I would extend again and again!!! 5 stars isn’t enough!! I loved it!!

GermanyI hope a small breakfast menu will be available soon as that would make Wild Monkeys perfect.
A million words could not describe how happy I am to have spend 16 fantastic nights at Wild Monkeys. I met some of the greatest people ever and will always keep them in my heart. My forever bestie Lenijane was so great to me! I was sick for about half my stay and Jane made sure I had everything I needed. Starting with making me ginger tea to give me strength, to getting medicine from the pharmacy and also organizing a ride to the doctor for me. I will never forget how good you were to me. Alliah greeted every guest with a smile and made sure they received a thorough introduction to the facilities. Sonny was the bright light of the hostel. Always had the biggest smile on his face and was available for a nice chat anytime throughout the day. He gave me many tips of places to visit or to stay throughout the Philippines. Thanks so much Sonny! Ate Mercy made sure the hostel, rooms and restrooms were kept spotless as she was on site everyday. You guys set the bar so very high that all future places will have a hard time to get even close. I will never forget you!

New ZealandI had the pleasure of staying at the Wild Monkey Hostel for 3 days, and I can confidently say it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! The service is truly world-class, and the staff are some of the friendliest and most accommodating people I’ve encountered in any hostel or hotel. The rooms are spotless, super clean, and have a sleek, modern design that made my stay very comfortable. However, while the rooms are fantastic, the AC was a bit noisy, and on the 2nd and 3rd days, it started leaking water. Initially, I was considering giving the hostel 4 stars because of this issue, but the exceptional customer service completely turned my experience around. A special shoutout to the staff who went above and beyond to help me when I accidentally left my shoes at the hostel on my way to Oslob. I contacted them to explain my situation, and they kindly arranged for a driver to deliver my shoes to me the very next day—right at the whale shark spot! This act of kindness and their willingness to go out of their way to assist me was absolutely heartwarming. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. The Wild Monkey Hostel deserves a 10/5 for their incredible service and the wonderful staff who made my stay unforgettable. Thank you for an amazing experience—I can’t recommend this place enough! 🙌🐒
