Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomDescription of double room is misleading. It mentions double bed and 2 single beds so 3 beds in total plus a patio. In reality it is a small room with one double bed only. Most pictures of the double room are false, except just one. Also to enter the property you need a code as there is no reception. This entry system wasn't communicated in advance. Even though we arrived precisely at the estimated hour nobody was answering my multiple emails or phone calls for 30 mins to clarify how can we possibly enter the property (which was at 10pm with a kid). After 30 mins only was I able to connect by phone to somebody to find out the entry code etc. Thus communication is very poor.
The hostel has an excellent central location, it is clean inside and has shared tea facilities, which is a plus.

SpainIt was cold in the room
The hostel was cute and quite just as seen in the pictures. The host was nice and was always attentive to any issue. The beds were super confortable and you even have a locker to close the boot. You even have a small kitchen where you can't cook but you can prepare cold meals and store food in the fridge. Really recommended to spend some days in Gdànsk.

United StatesThere are no actual workers at the location. So when the room smelled of strong chemicals and cigarette smoke there was nobody there to investigate. They tried to blame the perfume of one of the men that were there for the terrible smell I complained about. I did smell the perfume the man had with him when I asked him about the smell. It was clear his perfume was not the cause. It was his disgusting cigarette smoke and whatever chemical was used to cover up the smell. The entire room stunk and we had to leave the window open for several hours to get out the smell. I'm sure this would be a great location if it didn't allow smokers who stunk to be in small rooms with clean people. What was really strange about the event though, is that after I had gone out the next morning for a couple of hours to tour the city, I returned. When I opened the door the smell of cigarette smoke was so strong I coughed. Then the man asked me if I smelled anything. Duh, of course. It didn't smell like smoke before I left! It was obvious that the room had been smoked in, I just didn't understand why it he wouldn't just open a window. You could smoke all day standing by the window with a fan and it wouldn't have smelled so bad. It's just a strange situation that started to make me uncomfortable. Between the poor behavior of the guy in the room, and the obvious dissonance of the staff, it was clear there was no interest at all in a solution. Mainly not smoking in the room and covering it up with chemicals. Thankfully I was only there in one night. But I've been coughing ever since. Staying in the room with all that air like that has made me a little sick.
The location was great. They let me keep my bags there past check out so that I can explore the city.

GermanyThe blankets were a bit too thin for my liking. There were two locker-chests for 4 people... so I was unlucky and wasn't able to lock away my valuables anywhere... And during the second night I couldn't sleep at all because someone snored all night - but that's ofc not the hostel's fault.
Very clean and the kitchen had everything I needed, like a microwave. (No stove though)

TurkeyI didn't like the phone communication of the hostel representative. He can explain the passwords that give information about the hostel with an e-mail through bookin. It was difficult to call him because I don't speak enough English and he doesn't use Whatsapp or Telegram. You have to call to reach him. Some travelers pay extra for calling, which is not good. You are also innovative but not open to multidirectional communication, which is unpleasant.
It's nice not to find a reception or staff in the hostel. It is as if you are in your own shared home. Otherwise the hostel would be a very clean choice for Gdansk.

PolandNo curtains in a room with single big bed - you need to solve that issue on your own somehow Room is like a prison cell - only two hangs, one chair, one bed, very small and depressing Radiator is next to a wall and not next to window, which is leaks cold air easily, so it is rather cold, especially during winter Showers throw water during 10-15 seconds - you need to click all the time to wash yourself, which is disturbing
Perfect location - next to the old town or Crane

IrelandThere are no curtains in the dorm, which can disturb sleep. The door to the dorm gets stuck. There are no individual lockers, which I think are important for a building without staff. The organization of the place makes it quite anti-social. Dont expect to be able to stay in the common room or leave your luggage when you checkout. The cleaner is keen to clean the rooms as early as possible, I was asked every morning if I am checking out. On my last morning, I had removed my bag from the dorm, and went upstairs to the common room for a coffee. It was 10:50, 20 minutes after the checkout time, and the cleaner asked me if I had checked out, and when I said yes, she said "GET OUT" and stormed off. Not a good way to treat guests. That is the main reason I will give a lower score here, because that type of behavior is unacceptable. This policy needs to be stated as this is not a common thing with hostels. On my first day, there was a german girl who checked out and was in the common room until noon, she escaped the wrath of the cleaner.
It is a serviced accommodation with some shared rooms. I think calling it a hostel can be a bit misleading. It is centrally located near the bulk of the tourist attractions. There is no reception but checkin was smooth for me. You are sent a code for the main building, bedroom/dorm, and common area. I received these in the morning before checkin, that could catch some people out who do not have internet shortly before arriving. There are bedrooms on the second floor, and the common room is in the top floor (attic) with a couple of rooms also. There are 2 toilets and 3 shower rooms shared for all guests on the 2 floors. Everything is clean. The common room has a small kitchen with a kettle, a microwave, and some kitchenware. There is a long table with chairs and a couch. It is a bit cramped, but it is adequate for having a simple meal.
