Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsIt’s not super central to the city center, though there are regular busses and it means hiking paths start just around the corner!
Excellent international staff with a very welcoming approach. Game nights and dinners. Cozy environment and family atmosphere. The price is extremely cheap, especially for what you get in return. If I return to Zakopane I would definitely stay at GBL hostel again!

United KingdomHostel is located in perfect location for daily hikes in the mountains. There is a bus stop on the main road from where you can take a bus to Zakopane, Kuznice, Morskie Oko... Rooms, toilets and showers are clean. There is a space to prepare your own food and space in the fridge to cool down your beer. Communal area has this very nice and friendly vibe. Staff is very helpful and friendly. There are two cats that live there. I will be back next year!

Beautiful log cabin outside of Zakopane, 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Really nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff was very nice and friendly (thanks in particular to Lee and Kuba) and there was a different event every night eg. Perogi night, games night etc. Lovely cats too! Beds were very comfy too.

ItalyThe style of the hostel is amazing, a wooden house in the forest, exactly what you want going to the mountains. A bit far from city centre but just in the nature! You go out and mountains are here! Staff is very friendly, rooms and bathrooms are clean.

United KingdomCan't say anything about breakfast as never used. The location is a bit away from the centre of Zakopane, you need a bus to get there or 50 min walk. On the other hand the location is perfect for Tatra national park. It's a hostel, not a 5 star hotel, you share it with other people from all over the world, which can be a great experience. Great value for money, perfect place to explore Tatra mountains.

United KingdomEverything. It's a small cozy hut, and I love the free breakfast and the occasional snacks. It provided an opportunity for solo backpackers like me to socialize with the others. It's located near the entrance to the park, so it's easy to start a hike early or even later in the day.

United KingdomOnly thing I can complain about was the lack of space in the fridge when the hostel was full however that is understandable due to the circumstances.
Perfect spot if you want to go hiking. -Relaxed atmosphere -Beautiful homey interior (felt like home away from home) -Staff were very kind and of great help -plenty of board games and instruments around the hostel so there always something fun to do -there is a hiking trail 2 minutes away from the hostel In general a brilliant spot to have fun, meet new people and go hiking in Zakopane.

LithuaniaFor me it was perfect, exactly what I needed. It may not be for people who want luxury accommodation though, but these people don't go for hostels anyway:)
The staff were really lovely and very helpful. The atmosphere was great, relaxed, friendly, and social. You can get the view to the mountains from the garden, which was pretty cool. All the people I met in the hostel came for hiking as well, which I found really good to discuss trails, hiking experiences in Tatras etc. For me as a solo hiker, it was absolutely perfect.

HungaryBreakfast was very very basic and the two toilets are too few to serve the many guests, but the nice atmosphere compensated for these little invonveniences.
Very cute hut with a nice vibe, full of young people. It is in the middle of Nature. The track for climbing starts on the other side of the road, and offers a lovely walk. You can also park your car free...Ideal for packpackers and nature lovers. We stayed in one of the private rooms, so we had our privacy, still could mingle with others in the common spaces...

PortugalBathroom was dirty. Also, breakfast is only after 8am, what for hikers is really late. Anyway, they have coffee and tea available all the time.
Nice place located in middle of forest. A bit far from city center, but close to the mountains. I stayed in a private room, really cozy and well decorated.

You can start your hikes basically from the hostel and there is a busstop very close by to bring you to the the centre of Zakopane or to other starting hiking points.
