The free breakfast left a lot to be desired. One of the days, we waited a full hour-plus to get our toast and bacon. The restaurant was far from capacity at the time.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. I felt like I was a part of history, and the location was also right in the middle of the action, so to speak. Loved the free wine hour and delicious Gouda cheese! Also, when we arrived at around 2am the first night, the staff were able to come bring in extra sheets so I could sleep on the floor (I have a bad back and the mattress was too soft). I really appreciated this!!

Our first-floor room was dark and dank. The a/c was either at polar chill or off. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Water went all over the floor due to a sloppily installed shower curb. The restaurant was hit-or-miss in terms of food and service. The wine selection was weak, and even the limited selection wasn't all available during our stay. The daily complimentary happy hour is a nice gesture, but the offerings were minimal at best. The rooftop pool is tiny, the handful of lounge chairs had badly stained cushions, there was virtually no shade (only two small umbrellas), and sometimes there were no towels. There was no service up there whatsoever. There is no concierge. The front desk staff sent us on a 20 minute Uber ride to a recommended restaurant that they assured us did not require reservations on a week night. When we arrived, the wait was an hour and a half. On the day of our departure, we asked the front desk to reserve us a taxi to the airport 3 hours in advance, and then the bell staff gave it to another couple who just happened to be standing there because we weren't quite ready, 10 minutes BEFORE the reserved time. It took 25 minutes to get another taxi.

Location is outstanding. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The hotel overall is beautiful. The restaurant and bar are very convenient.

There was construction on one of the floors so the evening wine receptions were held in another hotel. That was a nice perk we were expecting, but found out upon our arrival that it was moved.

Location is great. Staff was very responsive and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and has a great old world yet Caribbean vibe. Having access to their beachfront hotel in Condado was a plus.

Parking is fine - there is a lot at the cathedral across the street, but we came during a wedding and it was full. I would have been totally screwed if I hadn't "tipped" the attendant to have my car parked in the full lot (and believe me, it was full). I think this was just a quirk because of the wedding, but beware if you are driving. Oh, they were understaffed, but we were there between Christmas and new years. The staff that was there worked literally 20 hours per day. They tried their best and made the experience wonderful. Kudos to the manager of the hotel and Jesus in the restaurant. I've never seen staff work as hard as them.

Location, location, location - This is the best hotel if you like staying in the heart of the old downtown. Their restaurant is good, staff is very hard working. Hotel is absolutely beautiful.

Service was slow at restaurant. Not staff’s fault. They were nice. The garden room we stayed in had a clogged drain on patio. We didn’t complain but cleaning staff she be aware and notify management. Thought cleaning of room could have more thorough.

There was construction going on that I wasn’t aware of, it was pretty loud and started early….the 2 elevators were slow and we couldn’t take the stairs to/from our room because we were on the 4th floor and the stairs were blocked off due to the construction on the 3rd floor.

Room was clean & comfortable. Great location, near bars and restaurants. Walking distance to the historic fort.

The 3rd floor construction was a little jarring, plus the taping off of the staircase at floor 4 kept us from using the stairs to get up and down from the 5th floor. I imagine it will be nicer/quieter when the construction is complete, though... Also, the Refrigerator produced a lot of moisture on the floor of the entryway when the AC was on. Seems like a pad or tray underneath it could keep that slippery moisture from building up on the floor. Might be nice to have drinks available at the pool (either alcoholic or just waters and juices)

The staff were all very helpful and friendly! The Courtyard at the Nispero was fun (we recommend that you make some cocktails with the Nispero fruit from that tree at the bar, though), and Trixie the Cat was a great Hostess! Loved the history, enjoyed the pool, and thought the old fixtures and doors, and the art and architecture made for a great ambiance. Enjoyed the Wine and cheese happy hour at the Palacio as well, and my wife really loved the Molton Brown amenities!

There is a big visual display that has misinformation regarding Jazz music on Friday nights. ' Interesting enough we also went to two other hotels and the front desk staff had difficulty answering certain basic questions about events at their own hotel regarding live music.

The location is great because it sits in the middle of most sites of interest and within easy walking distance. The pool is small but comfortable. We normally had just breakfast in the hotel but kitchen staff can be slow. I had been in this room two years or more ago and it has been totally updated. We Uber all over Old San Juan, Isla Verde and to and from the airport. First time user of Uber and it was easy. If I had rented a car it would have been at least $25.00 for parking and the rental cost. Do the math.
