Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe hot tub's blowers were not able to be adjusted. And, the pool area could be cleaned more frequently.
The location was excellent, property beautiful and well-maintained. The staff were superb - attentive and so kind, even when we arrived at 3am.

United StatesConsidering that it is a 300-year-old building, I would say that I would prefer a bigger bathroom.
It is an amazing location with a genuine Latin American historical feeling, not 'forced' but organic, with easy parking next door and right in the center of Old San Juan. The staff were great, and the veranda, afternoon drinks and entire setup are quite an experience. This is a way to be dropped down right into the culture, and is not a "resort" type experience.

United StatesWe had to wait some 3 hours when we got there because the room was not ready for us. Another thing was the fact that room service was not good plus when they did come they left the door unlocked and the bathroom mirror was broke off the wall and never replaced.
The room and the restaurant were great!

United StatesCommunication. We knew we would have to park offsite, but didn't realize how bad (impossible to move) traffic would be when we arrived. To make matters worse, we arrived just as a wedding was starting so the valet service/parking was not available. If the staff would have communicated best times to arrive we could have avoided some of the stress. My husband was ready to check out and go somewhere else before he even set foot into the room due to the traffic woes trying to get to a parking deck!
This is a historical property and we wanted to be able to experience it as much as possible. We loved the spectacular views and all the artwork there. The location was hard to beat, too!

United StatesThe swimming pool is too small, it’s an oversized jacuzzi. The internet has a lot to be desired very poor signal in the rooms we had to go out side to use, bathroom needs better attention
Very central, 10 to 15 minutes walk to all the points of interest in old San Juan

United StatesNo parking onsite so this was a bit tricky if you have a car.
Amazing location in unique accommodations. We made great use of the rooftop plunge pool each day to cool off, morning coffee on the veranda overlooking the plaza was the perfect way to start each day!

United StatesThe wifi coverage was pretty bad in the hotel. There were a lot of areas where you could not get a Wi-Fi connection at all. Other than that, we also had a water leakage in the room at a couple of places, which was kind of annoying given that it is a pretty expensive property. The staff was prompt to address but it was a constant thing with water leakage.
Overall the location was just incredible. It was right in the middle of Old San Juan and had everything required nearby. I would give 5 stars for the location only. Other services were also pretty good.

United StatesEverything was going great until I saw a small cockroach in my room near the entrance. I stood up and closed my suitcases, backpack etc. Honestly, I just couldn't sleep after that.
Great location, beautiful decoration. The room was spacious, the bathroom remodeled and nice. Great ambiance. And I loved the complementary drinks and cheese in the afternoon.

United StatesWe are a family of four and had booked a room with two double beds and upon arrival they said they had “upgraded” our room which we were pleased to hear but it was a room with a king bed. I think they oversold the rooms with double beds. They ended up giving us a room with a king bed and a pull out couch which is not what we reserved but was fine. Did not appreciate them trying to see us on the “upgrade “

ItalyBreakfast is really good, BUT, once you book on booking and choose between continental and American breakfast, then you are locked into it and cannot make any modifications. I was able to switch one day from American to continental, but it was like pulling a tooth. For the price you pay, a little more flexibility would be appreciated, especially considering that I was asking to switch to something less expensive than what I paid for.
The location and the whole vibe of the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful

United Statessee full review above - positives and negatives - but overall positive experience.
Hotel is a bit dated but in a great location. Pool isn't really a pool but more of a "plunge pool" - to me this was fine and it was quiet before 12 each day. Later in day you might feel you were sharing a bathtub with a lot of strangers. Hot tub was nice and good view from roof deck (some umbrellas for shade). Wine/cheese happy hour was great, and hostess was quick and polite. Didn't eat at hotel so I can't comment. Did get drinks - one bartender would bring drinks to rooftop; other one didn't offer (overall service is hit or miss but leans toward quite positive). Bottled water available at all times and there was coffee available all morning at no cost. Great location and staff were great at making dinner reservations. Third time staying there. Beds comfortable - balcony isn't a balcony and bathroom amenities quite limited.

United StatesThe pool is small, in case that was a deciding factor for you. I did Vieques prior to San Juan, so had enough sand and water already.
Conveniently located, lovely building and staff. The small perks are nice - free water bottles, morning coffee, afternoon wine. The restaurants on location are good, but feel understaffed. AC worked perfectly.

United StatesNo issues at all. We stayed a week which was probably too long for the area. You can see it all in a few days. Probably would have stayed on another part of the island just for variety.
Happy hour every night was a fun way to meet people. The hotel also has an arrangement with the Courtyard Marriott to use their beach. We did this three days we were there. Uber to Marriott was $12 each way. Marriott provided beach chairs, umbrellas and towels for free. Great arrangement considering the Marriott is 2x the cost of this hotel.

United StatesShowing its age and lack of enough maintenance. Fire alarms went off twice in our 5 day stay...why? No fire...but problems in the system. AC compressor in the room leaked a lot of water, the fridge was not working and had to be repaired, The bathroom was cleaned daily, but no fresh towels ( or linens) in 5 days. Housekeeping made the beds, but left garbage in cans and obvious dust on furniture. Staff was friendly, but seemed often overwhelmed. Will stay in the newer sister hotel next time in Puerto Rico.
Beautiful old building in an excellent Old San Juan location. Had to pay to upgrade rooms to get more space and be on a higher floor. Lovely complimentary 5 o'clock cocktail hour a nice social opportunity to mingle with other guests. Rooftop "pool" was small but helped cool us off after a busy day of sightseeing. Convenient and lovely patio restaurant for breakfast with excellent coffee!
