Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Location was difficult to find (small sign on wall between shops), one of the guests smoked in the bedroom linked patio and brought the smoke in the bedroom, shower curtains only used for privacy (not enough)
Super friendly staff, immaculate, terrace, big kitchen with lots of seating, easy check in, quieter part of town, less than 10 minutes to train station

There are volunteers working there and sometimes they don't do the service as workers.
The Hostel is well located and very clean, the service is according to the price. To stay a few days is ok has a big sunny balcony and nice decorated.

In the private room (very nice and cozy!!) I missed a desk for PC. The dining/kitchen area gets really hot already in the morning (like 10-11 am).
Very nice and cozy hostel. Has a very nice lobby and terrace from where you can listen to the concerts held in the nearby square. Plenty of small local shops in the area.

It would be great if the shower entrance had a full size door :)
The staff are wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive. The facilities are kept clean and resourceful. All beaches are easily accessible by bus, stops nearby. Neighborhood has some nice vegan restaurants.

the host may keep the remote for the air conditioner himself and control the temperature. a girl had it the whole night with her in her bed and it was freezing cold.

The place is kind of bland, it kind of lacks life. Also the privacy situation is a thing because the rooms are a bit cramped and the toilets are separate from the showers so getting dressed and everything is a bit tricky. However the upstairs bathroom was perfect.
Good Location, very nice kitchen and Sol is a very pleasant person.

I got lost looking for the hostel's location because there are two Rua do Comércio. When I put the place on Google Maps, I had to walk 3 km to the wrong place and then come back. Maybe identify which specific Rua do Comércio the hostel is located.
All of the facilities were very clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff was very friendly!

Small set of steps to carry your luggage, be aware.
The facilities are exceptionally well-kept. Vibrant colours and cosy ambiance. It feels like a home. Soraya is a very caring soul, grateful.

i really love the staff there and the hostel is beuatiful and their portuguise style with all the colors. i wopuld recommend it to every friend. it was clean and you have a very modern bathroom on the top floor for your own to lock. AC is also available and they have bycicles for rent. <3

On the last morning one guest was sleeping on the common area's sofa.
The whole experience was great! Comfortable room, spacious and well-equipped kitchen, cozy rooftop terrace... Soraia was a very kind host. Everything nicely maintained and clean.

We stayed in a double-room with shared bathroom. All the premises were very clean, no bad smells, strains, whatsoever. The AC was new and silent and working well. The Host (Ms. Soria) was very kind and helpful and ensured well our comfortable stay. That's one reason why we decided to extend our stay with two additional days. Can be fully recommended especially for the reasonable cost level in a very good location. Rent a bicycle and ride to the beach in 10min.
