this hostel is a real scammer. They evicted three days earlier and did not return booking.com money. No one returned the money to me either.

Staff was friendly. You can open the windows in the room so it is cool and the hostel is in a quiet area. A bit far from the centre. Over all a good stay.

It's hard to open the main door with the key, luckily the staff were there to help me, but if it happened during the night, it might cause difficulties.

Great value for money, much better than I expected. The kitchen and dining room were spotless clean, and it was quiet.

it would be cool if the hostel provided the bus and train possibilities from the center to the hostel.

The staff was awesome!!!! Super helpful and authentically friendly!!!! Restelo isnt in the center but you can get there easily from the center taking a bus from Cais do Sodre.

the employees weren’t very polite and didnt give the right instructions, you have to pay extra charges for keys and more charges if you want early check in and then when you do the checkout they supposedly give you the money back, but then when were leaving there wasn’t anyone there and we lost that money. also when you go call the number of the hostel they don’t pick up, only if you call many times

I booked the room at 11h30pm and arrive on site 20 minutes later. Nobody was there. I waited outside until one of the staff opened the gate and almost yell at me askingwhat I was doing there? Long story short, I had to wait 20 minutes outside because he couldn't find my reservation in the system. I gave him my driver license and he said that he couldn't use it as a legal piece of ID. I finally got into my room. Was supposed to be a 6bed. Turned out it was 9! They gave me the top bed, almost no clearance from the sealing! I did not sleep the whole night..a very bad experience is was. I am definitely asking for a refund and I am reporting this incident to booking.com

Do not be fooled by the photos, you may be put up in a drastically different room (which I was) and be expected to accept it as if nothing was wrong. Despite this, Booking.com will not entertain any requests for refunds because the value of the accommodation is not large enough, and there are existing negative reviews of this hostel which *you* should be aware on instead of relying on the photos uploaded by the hostel. I checked out one night early as I could not stand the noise (made by the hostel staff as late as 2am in the night) but there was no acknowledgement or inquiry as to why I wanted to check-out. I made a formal complaint to the hostel via the Booking.com app but received no reply at all. Booking.com is also extremely cavalier in addressing your concerns and heavily favours their listing partners. On to the bad points: There are 9 beds crammed into a store room and the only source of ventilation is one window. The space between your bed and the bed above you is so narrow that you can barely stretch your arm out. You are put in a room with the hostel staff who have no regard or respect for your sleeping hours. The room smells bad, the hostel staff's belongings are strewn on the floor, and it doesn't appear that the room is cleaned (dust all over the floor). The staff also appear new and rotate regularly, and have little to no training on how to run a hostel.

The only saving grace of this terrible hostel is the large toilets.

The fact that I was sleeping at the ground floor, basically at the staff quarters. 3 times! other customers were knocking at the door of my room, because they were searching for employees, in order for them to check out. Checking out is only possible at 11 am. This is way too late. Many people need to check out at 8 am or earlier. This is a lame system. People basically need to check out 1 day before they leave the premises.

Restelo is a calm neighbourhood, surrounded by embassies and villas. The location gives you a nice opportunity to discover Bélem. The price for the hostel was low, but the quality was low as well.
