Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe double room I booked was fantastic. The view from the balcony was an unexpected but great surprise. The location of the hostel is great. Only a short walk to plenty of bars and restaurants and close to the waterfront. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The hostel was very clean and had great facilities. I would 100% stay here again in the future.

CanadaThe location is close to the city center but located on a steep hill. Prepare to walk with your best shoes.
Great location. Beautiful rooftop. I had a small room with four bunk beds and it was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was included.

PortugalThe fact that you have to pay for a tiny rubbish bath towel on the top of the very high daily rate. Most hostels operate a rental, so you get your money back when returning the towel. Not there! Also, the girl at the reception seemed very unhappy to be there.
Clean hostel.

MaltaBunk beds made creaky noises.
Spacious rooms and comfortable mattress. Toilets and showers were clean. Locations is super, just a few metres away from pink street. It’s a quiet hostel, not the party type. Good for uiet solo travellers who are into meeting new people.

IrelandThe bunks are outright dangerous, I cannot stress this enough. I was on a top bunk and the stairs gave way on me twice, resulting in me falling badly once. The bedroom floors are wooden (as are the bunks themselves), so you can loudly hear every footstep of whoever walks in the room (even through earplugs - thank god for sleeping pills) and you can feel a shaking of the bunk every time the other person moves. We ALL complained about this to each other. There are only two sinks to every (women’s) bathroom, so you often have to wait to use the sink (to brush your teeth, etc.). There are also no mirrors in the rooms, so the only mirrors are in a sometimes crowded bathroom, depending on the time of day. The bathroom is often wet and sometimes lacking toilet paper, and always paper to dry your hands, but that’s not the end of the world. The plug sockets are not convenient, especially to top bunks, they rely on an extension cord. The lift was out of order when I first arrived, and there are a lot of stairs. I wouldn’t stay here again, my roommates agreed on this.
The location was great, although beware that it is in a very hilly area. The staff were lovely and friendly and able to help my with the train timetable etc. There is free breakfast, which is basically bread, cheap cheese and ham, and a small amount of fruit or cereal. There is use of a kitchen, if you want to cook for yourself. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom. There is a nice common area, if you want to stay in, although my experience was that people weren’t terribly friendly, unlike most other hostels. I literally made better friends with people in an Air BnB in a window across the street!

ItalyThe women at reception were totally rude, imagine that they didn’t say me not even “welcome”. The last day I let my keycard on bed and I had to pay 2,50 euro (of course, it was my fault) but she was so rude and so unfriendly without any reason! The beds and the floor are made by wood and it causes such a noises when people just move a step.
Breakfast is nice, common areas are nice too. People that go there are really noise, likely they changed me room (the first one was impossible to stay!!)

United KingdomThe hostel has a weird approach to money. On two occasions staff came to the room to present me with extra charges. On both occasions they turned out to be incorrect. As the charges surprised me, I challenged them, but accepted and paid them, but asked for a receipt. On both occasions they were refunded (and I should give the staff credit, they were very nice, and apologetic) - but I can't help wondering if things would have been different if I hadn't asked for receipts :/ One of the extra charges was for an extra night which they told me I had booked but not paid for. My booking was a messy one and I said that it must have been my mistake and asked to cancel. This was refused and I was charged full price (even though the hostel was empty that night and I hadn't reserved a bed that could have been given to someone else). Per the terms, if the staff were correct (they weren't - it was a mistake) then they'd be allowed to do this (doesn't mean they should). But compare their attitude to what we thought was my mistake to their attitude to their multiple mistakes about my payments, where they were so adamant that they were right that they would follow me to the room and convince me I was wrong (though I turned out to be right). Honest mistakes, I'm sure - all I'm saying is beware! The showers are also almost cold. I first thought this was due to the hot water being used up, and asked if there was any time of day I could catch hot water. Staff offered advice but over the course of my stay, it became clear that the water temperature is constant- I tried it when the hostel was empty and everyone had checked out, tried it in the morning, the evening, even at 3am - the temperature is constant because it has been turned to just above cold in order to save money.
The view, the light, the high ceilings :)

CanadaThis was the least comfortable hostel for me so far: no air condition no towels no soap no chair or a bench in the room - people sat on the floor nowhere to put clothes no place to dry small lockers
Hostel has great common room, it was quiet during my stay but the potential is there!

United KingdomThe building is very nic, good rooms and facilities, you could tell the hostel is well run and organised. I slept well on both nights I stayed there and enjoyed my time in Lisbon. Breakfast was simple but for me it's what a traditional portuguese breakfast and btw they had the best fresh bread from the bakery.

PolandI would suggest extra power socket for the rooms and a chair, it's always necessary when getting ready and not to sit in other person bed.
Good choise, close to main bars in Barrio Alto( 500 mts top walking) but far to have a good night sleep, breakfast is ok, place is big and confortable.
