“Good instructions for getting to the hotel.
The location is next to Matera cathedral, you can see the bell tower from the third floor roof top. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was massive and looked out over the countryside. We could walk to the Duomo within 1-2 minutes. Breakfast was great with all you could eat. Equally well we could visit the sassi within 8-10 minutes.
The restaurant for our evening meal was arranged by the hotel and was at La Terrassa a 7-8 minutes walk from the hotel. Great meal and we discovered that there were caverns hewn out of the rock that we visited after our meal.”
“Location was absolutely spot on, in the middle of historical centre but easy access from taxi - no walking along lots of cobbled streets dragging a case!
Private balcony with bistro style seating perfect for people watching and sun bathing.”
“The rooms were very unique and authentic, with enough space for our family of 5. There is an elevator, but stairs are necessary to get to the hotel. Parking is about 600m away, and we appreciate the hotel’s recommendation for the nearest garage. If you have a lot of bags, I recommend you arrange with the hotel to pick them up near the garage and transport them for you, otherwise you will be walking many stairs with your luggage. At the time of our visit, the pool was closed for repairs. The staff made us aware of this before we arrived, but we did not realise that this impacted the hot water elsewhere in the spa - we appreciate that the hotel refunded us the entry fee when we decided not to stay. I hope once the spa is repaired other guests can enjoy it, had it been functional I’m sure it would have been very nice, although €25 per person to access the pool seems expensive to me. Overall we had a great stay and enjoyed exploring and staying in Matera, I would recommend this hotel to others.”
“Exceptional setting with an amazing view from the balcony. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Perfect location for exploring the Sassi area, close to many restaurants and the train station.”
“It's a yearly "pilgrimage," a driving holiday hopping from one Italian borgho to another . Castelmezzano was our first "stop over," and the hotel was the best in this little village . 😍”
