“The Hibiscus Cottage is a truly exceptional accommodation in the heart of the rainforest. There were three of us and we spent three days here. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet, the pool in the creek, the siesta on the lawn, and the evenings on the veranda. The cottage is entirely eco-friendly: no TV, no air conditioning, solar-powered electricity and rainwater from a tank, and open-air bathrooms with a view of the forest. It's simple, but offers everything you need after a strenuous day in the rainforest. The breakfast, with its large plate of exotic fruits and plenty of homemade jams, is fantastic, and Matt is a perfect host. He is very attentive and gave us lots of good information and tips. Thanks again for that!”
“Great breakfast, amiable host, superb location and large room.”
“Matt has built an extraordinary B&B in the middle of the rainforest with stunning views and atmosphere. It is fully off the grid and sustainable which we really appreciate but is lacking no amenities. He was very welcoming and helpful with our stay and made sure we felt right at home. Matt made us breakfast in the morning, a lovely selection of fruits, toast and all sorts of spread and he had serials as well. The room was clean and the bed comfy, sleeping with the sounds of the forest just outside was so relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could stay longer but hopefully we can return one day in the future.”
“Quite and peace”
“Fantastic location in the heart of the rainforest. Stunning views and gardens. Beautiful 360 degree veranda. The best part was Robbie and Charmaine who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable and catered for. Delicious breakfasts on the veranda were a highlight. Charmaine offered her knowledge and experience to help us get the most out of our stay.”
“Location ,Wildlife. Forest”
“Delicious, ample, healthy breakfast. Great verandah looking into forest. Local's insight to the goings on in the region.”
“The host and the setting felt incredibly home-like, which made my stay very comfortable. I especially enjoyed the breakfast, with homemade spreads that were a thoughtful touch, and the breads were absolutely delicious. A wonderful, cozy experience overall!”
“Off grid rainforest experience. Thoughtful open design that immerses you in the setting. Lovely breakfast food.”
“If you want 5 star luxury, this is not for you. If, like me, you want a comfortable place to stay with an excellent host, then this is for you. The rooms are large with air-con, the bed, king size. A great walk-in shower and the basic trimmings. The breakfast is more than adequate, and Gil, the host, will do all that he can to ensure you get what you need. He will also give you a lot of info regarding the area. Yes, the place is a little rustic, but it was perfect for me. I will be going back.”
Ranked 6 out of 6 in the region, as well as being 10 of 10 for B&Bs and inns in Daintree.
