“2 bed apartment had plenty of space, bathroom and kitchen in great condition, and worked well for us as a small family. Great value for money in Uist.”
“Super-gregarious ex-teacher John, welcomes guests to a pair of well-equipped rooms in an attached annex to his relatively new home on a scenic ridge. The pair of rooms share a separate entrance and a little dining area where you're served a truly magnificent breakfast from a generous series of choices on a tick sheet to be filled in the night before. The 'Dunarain Special' starter is a cocktail glass full of scrumptiousness, followed by an over-sized Japanese-style bento-box filled with further delights - the delicious smoked haddock was especially good. We got the double room which has the advantage of easy access to the (theoretically shared) rear terrace overlooking the loch, while the twin room faces a rather less interesting view of the parking area. Our only criticism was that the bed in the double room sagged in the middle-right side which could bother sensitive sleepers. Overall a fantastic stay and an ever helpful host. Dunarain is 2km south of the Tarbert ferry terminal in a relatively isolated spot so you get great dark skies but access is best by car.”
“Rupert has done everything to make this small guesthouse into the go-to accommodation option in South Uist. Room is comfortable and good value, and there are so many details where he has gone well beyond the minimum - from the delicious locally sourced breakfast items to the veritable library of local books. The stylish shared guest lounge has a big picture window and looks out across an attractive landscape. And the location is delightfully quiet yet a short stroll from town across a pedestrian causeway. Thank you.”
“Everything seemed new, extremely comfortable and clean. The breakfast arrangements suited us perfectly as we could take with us any fruit or cereal bars left over to snack on later in the day.
Trish and Stewart are delightful hosts and had thought of everything.
We were visiting family in the area and this was really convenient bring ten minutes from Stornoway.”
“Amazing views, excellent hosts, awesome location, very good breakfast, and súper well equipped for self catering, and many lovely details in everything. My daughter particularly loved the huge Easter eggs that welcome her!
Amazing beaches near by that to me were nicer than the famous beaches in Harries. Lots of walks around and not far from the Canallais Standing Stones.
Also Grant recommended us to visit the llamas near the standing stones, it was amazing with more that 140 different animals, mainly llamas, chickens, pigs and sheep.
We had an amazing time! We def recommend it!”
