“Something they don’t tell you before taking a cruise from Halong Bay is that the boat actually stays stationary most of the time — I’d say around 60% to 70%. It’s also parked right next to many other cruises, which takes away from the feeling of being surrounded by nature.
A big disappointment was the sea itself: it’s quite dirty and has a bad smell. It’s not suitable for swimming, even though many of the packages promote activities like kayaking and swimming. In reality, the water smells really unpleasant and is polluted due to the waste from the many cruises in the area.
Getting to the cruise takes a long time. We left our hotel around 7 or 8 a.m. and didn’t get on the boat until 1 or 2 p.m. So if you stay only one night, you really only get to enjoy the afternoon, and the next morning after breakfast, it’s already time to leave.
We were welcomed with a delicious buffet, which gave us high hopes for the food. However, the other meals were served at the table and didn’t meet our expectations — neither in taste nor quantity.
The bathrooms were a bit uncomfortable and quite small. On the positive side, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive — that was definitely the highlight.
Drinks on board were quite expensive, and overall, we felt the experience was just average. We would rate it 3 stars.”
“Everything, I don't even know where to start : the staff, the room, the landscapes, the side activities, the vibe... and the staff again (not naming anybody. Everyone was adorable and working hard to make the guests comfortable).”
“We spent our anniversary in the VIP suite on the new Doria Cruise, and it was such a special experience. The room was beautiful, and even with the fog, the views were amazing. The staff really went the extra mile - surprising us with a cake, gorgeous flowers, and even a little dance and song! Huge thanks to Kim for being such a lovely host and to Sam for taking such great care of us. It was such a memorable trip.”
“After booking confirmation they sent me a message that they are sold out and I should cancel my booking. But they still offered rooms at Booking and Agoda… What a joke”

How does it work?
1
It starts with a booking
It starts with a booking

2
Followed by a trip
Followed by a trip
When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.
3
And finally, a review
And finally, a review
After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.
