Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomReview for Hostel Kavala, Zemun I had a wonderful stay at Hostel Kavala in Zemun. The property is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located close to the promenade, making it ideal for exploring the area. I stayed in a single-occupancy room with a double bed and a foam mattress, which was very comfortable. The room, located on the first floor at the rear of the property, was peaceful and away from any noise from the neighboring restaurant. I appreciated the choice between a feather pillow and a hollow fiber pillow, catering to different preferences. The amenities were excellent. The super-fast heating boiler ensured hot water was always available, and the central heating kept the room cozy until late at night. The spacious bathroom with a shower was impeccably clean. The room was well-furnished with a table, chair, single dresser, and nightstand, making it practical for any traveler. The friendly and welcoming owner made my stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Hostel Kavala for anyone visiting Zemun – it’s a great combination of comfort, convenience, and excellent hospitality.

TurkeyThe building is a bit old but honestly all buildings in the area are similar and that was not a big issue for me.
Before I decided to rent this place, I read previous travelers comments and I thought I was going to rent a very old place which was perhaps not clean enough but as I was on budget, I decided to do it and here is my experience with Hostel Kavala from the first day: the owner Mr. Simovich was a Serbian gentleman who was very welcoming. He made sure that I liked the room I rented and then charged me the price agreed on Booking.com. Then, he took me out and showed me the area around and all necessary information about public transport. I rented his place for 4 nights. My room had a double bed with a private bathroom. All facilities worked perfectly. I rented the place for a really good price. It was really clean. The bathroom, bedroom and stairs were all clean. The bed sheets smelled nice and even the windows were clean. I had more than one or two towels in the room available. Above all, Hostel Kavala is in a 1 min walking distance to Danube river with nice restaurants cafes bars just next to the river. There is a green walking area next to it which added to its charm honestly. The bus station was 3 minutes walk away from the place to Belgrade Republic square taking 20-30 mins bus ride to get there. Moreover, there was a nice long market with fresh vegetables and fruits plus several shops in the parallel street. I couldn’t ask for more. The area is very close to center but still calm and safe. On my last day, the owner helped me carry my luggage and we had a nice coffee together before my departure. Thank you Mr. Simovich for everything

United KingdomNothing.
It's a clean, comfortable place to stay. For the money paid, it is good value and there is nothing to complain about. I have stayed here twice and will happily stay again. Great location for Zemun and the promenade.

GermanyThe interior is rather Spartan, which in itself I do not mind… It’s just that the bathroom and bedroom were both illuminated by this truly horrible cold white light. This light is good for operation rooms, interrogation rooms and morgues but not for hotels, and definitely not for bedrooms
The owner is very friendly and helpful. Great location in Zemun district. Good mattress. Good Wi-fi. Budget friendly.

RussiaVery often the Internet connection is interrupted. Or the speed drops significantly.
For a hostel it is very good if you book a separate room with a shower.

United KingdomThe sockets in the room were quite dangerous. The kitchen could use a bit more cleaning. It would be nice if there was a cup in the room.
The room was quite good for 5 nights. It was easy to get to the city centre by bus. The bed was comfortable. The host was really friendly

United KingdomNothing, given the great price and location. Everything is clean, even the parts that could use a little renovation. So would definitly recommend.
The location is one of the best in all Belgrade. In the very heart of Old Zemun; with it's huge green market, the riverfront just 2 minuites away on foot. The huge rooms are air conditioned, the hot water is piping hot and the double bed had obviously had a recent quality mattress. The ensuite bathroom is also big. The staff were helpful and very correct. A kettle, basic cooking utensils and a huge fridge freezer are in the shared kitchen. The price is exceptionally good value. If you are in Belgrade for a couple of days, then this place will tick boxes for you.

SwitzerlandThe room was shabby and it smelled extremely of cigarette smoke. I left open the window all night but it didn't help. The bathroom needs a real cleaning. The room had everything that was needed: a bed, bedsheets, a shower, although on a very basic level. The owner showed me how to use the (free) public transport to the airport, that was very helpful. You have to change bus line to get to the airport. The district where the rooms are is called Semun and it's far away from the center of Belgrad.
