Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThis hotel lacks an elevator — while that did not bother us at all, be aware in case it is an issue.
A beautiful historic building in a lovely neighborhood, within walking distance to many parks, museums, and Gamla Stan. We loved that our rooms had balconies and that the common areas were so inviting. The breakfasts were plentiful and delicious. Ferry and tram service were close. Friendly staff helped out when we needed advice and offered to store our luggage for a late departure. I hope to stay here again!

Hotel Esplanade is a homey, cozy hotel with a beautiful view of the harbor. We have stayed there before so we know what to expect and that's why we chose it. The breakfast is also the best part of the stay, Scandinavian delicacies and strong coffee. And all day tea/coffee available in the lobby. Bonus: a sauna is also available with robes, slippers and towels.

Lithuaniaeverything was perfect
We arrived earlier, so our room was not ready yet. However, the upgraded room was offered at a reasonable price. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The building is exceptional: old and nice. We got the information about the history of the building. Breakfast was very good. We appreciate the possibility of having coffee or tea all day. Also, there is a possibility to buy wine at the reception. The location is perfect - on the river, near the bridge. If you like to walk, so you can easily reach the main Station - it takes about 15-20 minutes.

LatviaI think booking showed it was 3 stars, but google maps showed only 2. Which was weird, but the hotel was good anyways, so does not matter.
The hotel was great. On the ground floor they had coffee and cookies, which you could make for yourself at any time. The room had heater inside, which was very useful since it was cold outside and we could regulate the temperature ourselves.

United StatesAll was good! No complaints! Also free coffee/espresso machine and tea and cookies 24/7 in dining area. Plenty of seating areas in lobby area too. Highly recommend.
Perfect stay for 6 nights in Stockholm. Centrally located, charming and helpful staff, wonderful breakfast and dining room for plenty of people to sit and relax. We had a room with a balcony facing the street and waterfront. Although there was traffic noise, as expected, it was not an issue for us. With the windows closed it was very quiet. Every morning around 8 am the horses from the Royal Stables would pass by our window. What a delight. There is also a “living room” on the main floor for guests to sit and relax. I felt very much at home at this peaceful, quiet, awesome art nouveau hotel. There is also a sauna (with a shower and toilet) you can reserve for private use (free). Robes and slippers provided. Wine and beer/ soda for sale in the lobby, and a small fridge/mini bar in rooms. I would stay here again when we return to Stockholm.

United StatesThe hotel is a bit older but very comfortable with a nice charm. For those who have accessibility/mobility concerns, do note there is no elevator, I believe the whole hotel is only situated on two floors though so not too much walking up/down floors. There is also no AC, which wasn’t a problem for us given the windows open gave a nice breeze.
Loved staying at the Esplanade, its location is very central to a lot of the Stockholm sites and you can’t beat the views opening to the waterfront. Very nice staff as well. Would absolutely stay here again next time we’re in Stockholm.

United KingdomThe entrance foyer and reception area.
The location was amazing and the breakfast very good. The staff were lovely and efficient. The entrance foyer and reception were very off putting. The carpets were thread bare and the area was generally tatty, not a good introduction. However the rest of the hotel was fine, very traditional Swedish feel which is what we wanted. It was hot during our stay and not all rooms had fans so we had to ask for one and hope one was available.

EstoniaIt was tricky to shut the smaller ventilation-window which rattled in the wind - would be nice to have some gadget for it. / The ceiling lamp was dusty. / Could have been nice to have some waterproof seat covers you could put on the cool chairs on the balcony.
The overall design of the hotel is cosy and stylish. Eventhough the furniture is quite worn out, it gives a nostalgic vibe. Extra points for stylish common rooms. For ex. a drawingroom with a balcony, with the view towards the bay. The ROOM was quite cosy, almost clean (except dust on ceiling lamp, chair frame), nice little balcony with a table and chairs; BREAKFAST had a sufficient variety of choices (allthough, sadly the liver-pate' was finished by earlier eaters and there was no extra delivered), sprouts and spring-onion served in small bowls was a refreshing extra; also the cups(china)looked lovely and the candles added homey cosiness to the classy atmosphere. The possibility to have tea and coffee (and take it to yoru room) for free at any time, was perfect. LOCATION is excellent - super view, very close to the shopping-area, museums, restaurants, cafes, theatre. The young lady at the reception was very helpful and charming, also other staff members were welcoming. It was quiet and private enough for people who are looking for peace and calm.
