Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaA few issues: - the rooms were renovated a long time ago so the bathrooms are tired and the grout on the floor and wall are mouldy. Could do with a deep clean. The shower curtains should be replaced more often. - the breakfast buffet was OK but not as good as other hotels we had stayed in during our trip. Of particular annoyance was the fact that they do not offer normal milk - only soy, oat and lactose free. Even other Swedish guests were surprised! - for the price and size of the room, we were surprised that there was no bar fridge or tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
We loved our stay at the Gripsholms Värdshus. It is a charming collection of old buildings (almost like a tiny village) with a really lovely feel and atmosphere. We had a lake view room, though the trees were quite large and not much of a view - but that did not matter as we were keen to explore the charming village of Mariefred. The hotel has a huge outdoor garden and we were able to enjoy the multiple areas of the outdoor lounge and bar. The position of the hotel could not be better - right in the heart of Mariefred, on the edge of a fjord and overlooking the amazing castle (definitely worth a visit). Overall, a lovely stay and would recommend it.

SwedenIn my room the tap/faucet in the bath was next to impossible to turn. It was very hot and I couldn't fix it. Nor could anyone in my family. We had to take cold tap water in a cup and pour severe times to regulate the temperature. The reception was closed so I formed them of this inconvenience in the morning.
The location, the rooms, the breakfast and it was very pretty interior.

IsraelThe room is very "simple" but we knew from the photos. The bath was a bit old.
The location is great, right on the board walk. The service is excellent and so is the restaurant. The public areas of the hotel are very nice.

United StatesParking in the area is very challenging. Front desk was closed from about 9 pm to 8 am. No access at all to anyone from hotel. We had to store some medicine in a refrigerator and desk staff said no problem and put it in a refrigerator in kitchen or area behind reception. Unfortunately we could not get timely access to it and had to wait until 8 am. That did not work well for us. If we had just had a heads up about the closure when they took the medication from us it would have helped immensely.
The location overlooking the water at the castle was wonderful. The room was comfortable and bathroom and shower were very modern. Restaurant is very nice but pricey (most likely because of location). Breakfast was good.

SwedenMainly two points: - The shower setup in the bathroom could have been better, as the floor normally got wet after a shower, including the mat, which wasn’t great. - The restaurant menu could include more kids options.
Friendly staff, well organized overall, kids friendly with areas for them to play, good breakfast and restaurant, calm and in a perfect location.

United KingdomThere was no air conditioning. We travelled late spring and it was quite warm so needed the windows open and the fan which was provided.
Location by the lake was great. Room was spacious and comfortable with a nice view of the lake. We ate in the bar where the service and food were very good.

SwedenWifi was a bit fiddly to get onto but once connected it was fine.
Perfectly located with a great view of Gripsholms Slott. Staff were fantastic and friendly. Our room was large and had everything you needed. Its got a period look and feel, which was charming, but the room had everything you would need from a modern hotel. Loved that it was a later checkout on Sunday, which meant we didn't have to rush.

United StatesWe didn't like the breakfast as much because there was no decaffinated coffee or cafe latte included. You had to pay extra. Swedish breakfasts usually serve some type of dark rye breads, but not here. Some herring would be nice with the eggs
We really liked the location, the building, the outdoor areas, and the gardens. The room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The town is fantastic. The Skänken restaurant was beautiful inside. It was easy to park.

CanadaNo tea making in room or access in main hotel. Indeed, doors locked between parts of hotel. Stayed at Vadstena Kloster Hotel last year, much nicer.

United KingdomOur room was ground floor and next to the carpark which was a little disheartening. However the external sound proofing really good which is more than could be said for internal. The neighbours could be clearly heard and we had a very loud man next door. Fortunately after about 11pm it became very quiet and it was a peaceful night but the sound insulation was a concern. No complementary tea/coffee facilities.
Comfy bed and nice decor. Good shower. Room rate included breakfast which was lovely. Very extensive choice of freshly prepared food.. Had a meal in the restaurant which was delicious and reasonably priced for Sweden. Restaurant buzzing even on a Monday night. Located near the lake and 15 min walk from the fabulous castle/national portrait gallery.

NorwayPoor service in the restaurant. Three staff stood talking with each other completely ignoring our table. The reception did not charge us the extra cost for bringing two dogs when checking in, nether when we checked out. W e thought everything was prepaid and ok but they called and asked for Mastercard info when we were almost back home.

SwedenRoom was located somewhat below the parkingspace outside and with only one window, people outside had a good view inside. Room wall and bedside furniture was a bit dusty due to the ventilation in the ceiling. Room had a double door (locked ofc) to an adjacent room, with basically no soundproofing. Overall happy with the stay, but with the price I didn't expect these small issues.
Great breakfast, but a bit unorganized. Nice staff. Beautiful building and nice location by water and church.

SwedenIn Booking the facility was listed as dog friendly, therefore I would have expected my small dog to have full access to the restaurant area and not just to the closeby rooms, as it is possible in many restaurants in Stockholm and other big cities. Besides, a small fridge in the rooms was needed for people who nave necessity to store important medicines cold.
Staff was really kind. Breakfast was excellent and classy. Facility is charming and pretty stunning. Overall, our staying was amazing and we will definitely come back :)
