Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyHowever, there was a very unpleasant situation on the day of my checkout (around 4 a.m). A man was walking around Level 3, seemingly trying different passwords on doors. Later, I discovered that two men had entered the female dormitory without permission – one was even sleeping in my bed. This made me feel quite unsafe, especially since the dorm is intended exclusively for women. There is no on-site staff at night, and while the hostel has cameras, I wasn't able to reach anyone immediately. I contacted them via WhatsApp, and they assured me they would address the issue, though I can't be certain of the outcome. I hope the hostel will take stronger measures in the future to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. I wish I could give the hostel a full rating, as my stay was otherwise very pleasant. However, due to this experience, I feel it's important to inform other female travelers to stay alert. Note: I had previously left a positive review for this hostel based on my stay in a mixed dorm. However, due to this recent experience, I reached out to Booking.com to update my review. I felt it was important to share this for the awareness of future female travelers.
My stay at Beary Best Hostel in Chinatown, Singapore, was overall positive. I stayed for a total of four days—two days in a mixed dorm and then I switched to a female dorm. I would especially like to highlight Siti, who was always friendly, warm, and helpful – her positive attitude really made my stay enjoyable. The beds were comfortable, and the central location of the hostel was ideal for exploring the city.

SingaporeNo breakfast provided only tea packs Place not clean On lower floor there were guests sleeping in the sofas in the morning. One guest from Indonesia came too early at 9.00 am. As no one around, she started asking and demanding for answer so I gave her the telephone number at the lounge. She was talking so loudly and even shouted at me and called me out loudly names when I did not attend to her As I was busy on my mobile, I shouted back at her. A really bad experience for trying to help such a, lady

SwitzerlandIt's not very comfortable, but ok for a few nights if you are on a budget. Lots of beds in a small space so that you don't really have the space to pack your backpack. Not all beds have curtains, my locker was broken and full with stuff of someone else. It's not just backpackers but also some longterm residents (which is also ok but a different vibe).
Amazing location, right next to Chinatown subway stop. Small kitchen with water dispenser. You enter the door by code or unnlock it by an app on your phone. There is a hostel whatsapp group.

SingaporeThe bunks in the dorms have a low ceiling so take care of your head as you sit up or bend over into and out of the bed (kind of like a capsule but shorter). The safety deposit box below the bunk slides out nicely but makes a lot of sound when opening and closing the lid. Be very gentle and control your strength as you lift otherwise your bunkmates won't thank you for it. The fans are set to low because some fans are very noisy when set higher, plus if you're on the upper bunk chances are you'll be blasted with the high rotation winds from the fans which blow in the centralised aircon in the middle of the dorm. Because the fans are set to low, this does not circulate the cold air efficiently enough. Bring a portable fan (preferably a rechargeable one). Luggage has to be kept at level 1 in the luggage room, and it's a small one so make sure you have what you need in your dorm. Bring hooks to hang stuff. The reason being that there's not enough space to keep your luggage in the dorms as it may block the passage to the door. (Only special circumstances warrant the need to keep the luggage in the dorm, with consent) And because the luggage is kept in the luggage room on level 1, you have to remember to take whatever you need (this is a reminder) up to your dorm because you might be staying on the 2nd or 3rd floor and you can only commute by stairs. If you forget something, be prepared for a workout. Some shower stalls don't have hooks on the wall or door frame. What I did was to get a door hanger with hooks with a large enough clamp from Turtle (B1-17/18/19/20 Chinatown Point, sells at $13) to hang over the door frame so that I could hang stuff and shower. So where are the hooks then? Only in the toilet stalls, on the walls. *shrugs* A minor inconvenience (and apparently I'm the first guest to report it to the staff). Oh and in case you missed it, I did mention that you can only get the door codes ONCE on the Goki app.
The rates are low but the stay quality is great. Take note that if you want to keep using the Goki app to open doors inside you'll have to get your initial booking for a longer duration because subsequent extensions will not include this feature, though a new door code will be given to you. Staff are reasonable, fair, and sometimes persuasive to help you plan your trip here within a tight budget and may even help with bunk arrangements (if approved). Laundry washing and drying is affordable too (just use new dollar coins). Heater in showers is great but if the weather is too hot, a cold shower will help. No shampoo and soap provided so bring your own. No towel either but you can borrow at a charge. The place is within vicinity of the Chinatown Point shopping mall, touristy spots, cafés, Chinese restaurants of all types, the Chinatown MRT station (both North East and Downtown lines). No jaywalking please as the roads are very busy here throughout the day. Just outside the entrance is a bus stop, though most of the services head Westwards on New Bridge Road. Super value for money! And if you're hungry after hours, order GrabFood and sit outside on the stool to wait for it to arrive. Then eat to your heart's content at the lounge below (no eating upstairs).
