Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomClean comfortable room with good sized bed. The room was modern, bright and well equipped. There's even a free mini bar with soft drinks and snacks. Close to Little India, and MRT stations at Lavender and Bugis, The Sultan is a great base for exploring Singapore. Would definitely book here again.

United KingdomThe room was so dark there was no direct light at all. The window looked out into a passageway. I think a lot of the rooms would be like that. There was only the foyer to sit in and there were no lounge chairs there, so it did not feel like a place you could relax for an hour before dinner.
Good size room, recently decorated. Comfy bed. Free soft drinks

CanadaNot all rooms look like the photos presented on the website. While hotel rooms are small everywhere in Singapore, some rooms at this hotel barely allow one to enter from the hallway and then do not offer much space to move. Be careful when booking, as well as when being presented with the room key. Bathroom is really small, one has to open the door to the wall, enter and then squeeze by to let the door close (like in airport toilet stalls). No dehumidifier or vent in the bathroom, it was always steamy, there was some black mold on the wall. Shower head kept dripping water for hours after being turned off. Rooms have windows that either face the side streets, or the inner hallways and other rooms, so curtains have to be on at all times. Walls must be paper thin, as after next room got inhibited I could hear the noise from the room and the lobby. Wifi network names and passwords found when trying to connect from the room didn't match the provided instructions. Even after receiving new details from reception desk wifi was difficult to set -up (had better luck doing that next to door) and unstable (had to reset it every day).
The hotel is close to the MRT and bus stops. It is also within walking distance to the Arab Street. Even walking to the City Hall, Fort Canning, or the quays would take around 30 minutes. While it was necessary to turn on a switch 10 minutes before taking a shower (to get hot water), there was no problem with the water. It also drained well, due to having a lower level drain in the shower stall. Minibar stocked with water and some soda drinks - water was replenished during the stay. The minibar is though enclosed in a cabinet and thus runs hot, as there’s no vent in the cabinet walls.

AustraliaThe toilet wasn't cleaned properly which was quite disappointing. The aircond seemed like it needed servicing as the fan was making loud ticking sound all night. The sound proofing for the glass doors was inexistent which meant everything was clearly heard (e.g. road noises).

ItalyToo much noise I couldn't sleep
Very small room and zero soundproofing. We can easily listen the people in nearby room but the worst part was that we were near a small pound with the fish and the sound on heavy rain in that didn't let me sleep all night long.

United KingdomThe outside of the building and the common external areas looked jaded. There was greem mould on the curtans on the cabannas. The paint was peeling and the place looked uncared for.
The reception staff were helpful but not particularly friendly. The bar staff were great although it was a shame they did not seem to have many customers. The Upstairs bar was nicely decorated and good music but lacked atmosphere even although the bar staff tried.

RomaniaVery bad value for the money, given the bad state of the room (old furniture and nasty stains on the bed upholstery). Only booked this due to lack of alternatives, but would not stay there again.
Location close to Kampong Glam and pubs and restaurants.

RomaniaThe room definitely needed some renovation, it looked very old and not very hygienic (the bed panel had some very fishy and nasty stains...). The hotel was pretty noisy (constant noise from some air conditioning or generator from outside) and you could literally hear everything through the walls (e.g. people coughing or talking at night). Not exactly easy to sleep properly. It was on the cheaper side of Singapore hotels, but very overpriced for what it offered.
Good location in Kampong Glam, close to lots of restaurants and a nice pub area. The staff was quite nice.

GermanyThe room was on the ground floor which was quite noisy. Streetwalkers could have easily looked into the room if the curtains weren't closed. Additionally, there was an acrid smell when we entered the room and bugs or cocoons on the wall. On the second night we saw cockroaches in the corridor on the way to the lobby - potentially coming from the streets as it was trash day. All in all, it's ok to stay for 2 nights but it wouldn't be our first choice if we come back to Singapore.
We only stayed two nights in the hotel room which was ok. The location is great as you can easily walk around and reach public transport within 5-10minutes walk, depending on where you would like to go. There are plenty of restaurants around which made it very convenient for us to grab dinner when we arrived.

United KingdomAside from the hot water running out in the mornings and the noise from pipes, not much bothered me as I slept through. My room facing the walkway did not have much natural light, making it a bit tough to get up in the mornings.
The hotel was exactly what I was looking for: reasonably priced, located on the edge of the downtown core while being in a historical area and with lots of good food options nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Kyla whom I got to know during my stay. I liked that the spaces were a mix of indoor and outdoor, which was quite charming when it rains. The hotel is a bit run down but I quite like that, adds to its charm compared to soulless modern hotels. Lovely neighbourhood and I felt like I did not need to go beyond as I had everything I need within reach.
