We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

IrelandSuch a pity, because this place just needs TLC. Needs painted, no key for door. Shower head not connected to hose. Having said that about €80 and 1 days work would have fixed it. Meals were lovely, but way too slow. Waited an hour for breakfast before we got anything. I mean anything at all! Dinner was similar. I actually wanted to help. Teenager just sitting there doing nothing. Could not understand why he could not have helped set tables or something.
Beautiful location. Beach is so lovely. Hot water and good ac. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Comfy bed.

PolandThe shower door was a little bit broken, no warm water in mornings (only evenings), waiting for breakfast took up to an hour. This being Sao Tome some roughness is a given so it’s all ok - just pointing out what to expect :)
Very quiet and relaxing location, beautiful views, good spot to go to Sao Tome beaches and Ilha Rolas. Beds and rooms were comfy enough although a bit small. The spot is a little ways from the Porto Alegre village so there’s no noise during the night at all. Also be wary that you need a 4x4 to get there but that goes for all roads south of Sao Joao do Angolares :)

AngolaThe place needs some investments now and maintenance. The resort has a lot of potential but feels like it has been abandoned some how. Our shower door was falling apart.
Great locations, stunning beaches, the rooms are eco and nice, and Antonio is such a great host...

PortugalNo air conditioning in the rooms, although I’m quite sure their entry at Booking did mention it. Also the staff was helpful but would only be available at pre-determined hours — they’d ask you at what time precisely you’ll want lunch and dinner and they’ll be there, but forget about having a cold beer mid-afternoon.
It is stupendously well located. Hard to get there, the last stretch of road was quite a challenge, and at some point the GPS will be confused when you get to the village just next to the resort. But once you get there it’s like you have a private beach just to yourself. Pristine sea, crabs, I am told you’ll also see some turtles if you pay attention at night.

PortugalI think the beds could be more comfortable. There was one temporary water and power shut down, but the staff said they were improving their electrical system to avoid that in the future. It could also have a lounge area where guests could just lay back and enjoy the surroundings.
Nguembu is located in the southern point of São Tomé, so getting there isn't exactly easy. The only main road is very damaged after São João Angolares, and Porto Alegre is a small village with not much to see or do. To get to Nguembu from the village the road is hard as well, make sure you have a 4x4 and you'll be fine, but be prepared for a lot of bumps. Nonetheless all the effort was worthy, in this area you can find the best beaches in the island of São Tomé. The facilities are very good, especially the rooms with AC and very clean. Beds were ok. It gives access through 5min stairs to a nice beach, though the sea was a bit rough and hard to swim on. Staff is very friendly. Plan in advance your meals, so the staff can arrange it. Good breakfast. The staff will help you schedule activities in the area. Given the extremely remote location, it's amazing how good the owners keep this property.

AngolaIt is at the end of a "road" that is more of a bumpy washed out track, so quite the experience to get there. We had to check several times that we were still on the right path. The water looks amazing but at the time we were there it was too rough to swim so you could just look, which was disappointing. As there is nothing around, and they south of the island runs on generators (no central power grid), it was very peaceful and scenic but not much to do. The generators were off for the afternoons so no power or wifi. If you have any mobility issues, it is tricky as the baths up to the cafe or down to the beach are really steep (and slippery when wet). We got a spectacular rain storm while we were there which was very exciting to watch from the inside of the lightening storm clouds. Pay by cash or direct bank transfer only. Bring cash!
This is the place to go if you really want to get away from everything... it's at the end of the road at the end of the island, on a hill overlooking the turquoise ocean. The view is amazing, and the cabins are cute and clean. The staff were super helpful and kind, cooking all the fresh fish for dinner and eggs for breakfast. They were super helpful and even found us some stuff for sandwiches when we were stuck for lunch one day in a rain storm. They organized a boat to collect us and take us to the equator island across the channel.

EstoniaAlthough the house itself was very basic and did not give any feel of coziness , N`Guembú Nature Resort was very lovely place to stay. The location was superb. The territory was lovely, but over all these were the people there who made us feel good and great. Especially Antonio. He was cheerful, friendly, helpful and always made a special step to make us feel really really good there. We had a lot of fun. And the Lady who prepared the food, she was so lovely . The food was very delicious.

GermanyThe cabins aren’t well-maintained and the electricity and wifi only works at night. There’s only one common space, the restaurant. When it rains, you don’t have many options: either stay in your hot cabin with no working fan or get wet.
The property has a lovely and very clean private beach and is well-manicured. The staff are very kind, especially Tony!

United KingdomThe staff was really helpful, nice and kind. However the restaurant was not amazing. not because of the very low offer, which we had our mind opened in regards to that, as this is something common across the island. however it was one of the most pricey hotels, but there was one day that the staff at the restaurant asked us what we wanted for dinner and we have chosen the octopus with some rice (suggested by them, around breakfast time) and when was 7pm, we were informed that there was no rice and they only had the octopus and maybe we could eat with something fried. we had no choice and we accepted. it is not a massive thing, but I don’t understand how we were asked at 10am what we would like to eat and that was their suggestion and after a day which could have been used to buy rice, we were informed that wasn’t possible. keep in mind that my boyfriend is vegetarian and there was just eggs as option, so he was counting to eat rice with eggs and that was not possible as well. the worst it was when we wanted to buy water, as it was the only easy access place to buy it and they also didn’t have it. things are far from each other and the roads very bad, so it wasn’t easy for us not having water to drink. I think the restaurant should be better explored and at least have the minimum to run, like water to drink (buy).
We like the location. very good to explore the area and easy access to the rest of the beaches around. the result beach is also very good!

MalaysiaWe had no fans, and given the warm weather and the small size of the bungalows, it was hard to sleep. Also, we had not towels for two nights because the staff said that they were wet. Finally, the contact shared, Silvério, didn’t answer for the whole stay (3 days).
The property is well located and the beds are really comfortable. Antonio, the local guy was really nice trying to find solutions for our challenges.

SwedenWould never stay here again. We left earlier to get out of there. Stains on bedsheets and towels. Had animals trying to come in to the bungalow. A/C is only in the front beach view bungalows. Place needs to be maintained better. When it rained rain came in from the door and made the bungalow wet. No one is there when you arrive, even if it says 24h reception. Need to book lunch/dinner i advance and limited offer (but food does taste good). No shampoo.
Location is nice.

Francethe place is totally falling apart and needs major maintenance improvements. It is actually very expensive for what it is. Shower not working, stains on walls, door and windows not closing properly. There is obviously no interest from the Owner to fix the place. Antonio the manager does what he can to keep the place afloat but he is very overwhelmed and I actually felt very sorry for him. 50 min wait for breakfast and invariably eggs every morning, very good for your cholesterol levels ! Think about bringing your own oats or cereals.
Great location. Antonio the manager tries his best.

United StatesThe beds were a bit too soft for me (I like a very firm mattress), and the road getting there is quite difficult/tiring, but that is not something they can control. There really weren't any drawbacks. Lovely place. I would stay there again .
The view was absolutely spectacular. If you want to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Sao Tomé, this place was perfect. Antonio was so kind and helpful. And the food was great and plentiful. The wifi was strong and worked well all over the property.

SpainThis place is just paradise! The little bungalows are super cute and comfy, with air conditioning, big comfortable bed, big bathroom and a living room. You sleep listening to the waves because the houses are just steps away from the beach, and the view is just astonishing. There is a restaurant at the top, with even better views, and the staff there is super nice and helpful. You need to tell them in advance if you want to have dinner or lunch with them, and they prepare tasty dishes. This was, without any doubt, one of the best places I have stayed at, because of the cute houses and the unbelievable nature around them, along with the two beaches just few minutes away. We will be back!

PortugalMy partner and I live in Sao Tome and needed a break from the city. We usually stay at Jale beach ecolodge, but decided to try N'Guembú for the first time. It was excellent. They have an AC in sea view rooms, hot water, a generator, wifi, comfortable beds and clean space. The beach has always been one of our favorites. Check in was smoothe, staff speak English. Breakfast is simple but filling. A definite, well reserved 5 star review from us ( I am manager at Emoyeni Gardens hotel, and this is my new favorite place to go and get away from things).
