Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Brightstar hostel is the best hostel in Koh Phi Phi by far! It’s a bit out of the way, but not by too much, and it’s the perfect distance to get a good night sleep away from the noisy bars!

A/c was way too cold in the room. Not a bad thing for most people I didn’t like it.
Super soft comfortable mattress. Probably the best mattress I had in Thailand.

Like all accommodations on this island (or in the south of thailand), just too expensive. But i understand that when competing with others the same price, then it was good. But yeah over £20 a night is a bit crazy for any hostel
really spacious and clean- offered free toast, water, snacks. Plenty of places to hang wet clothes.

It was a long walk (20 min) from the ferry to the hostel, other it was amazing!
The beds where very nice and the bathroom was also okay! Was a good place to stay, away from the noise but still sort of central

It can be a bit loud in the evenings due to nearby beach clubs and the rooms are a little cramped if you have a big bag
Really friendly staff, free breakfast and snacks, free refill drinking water, great facilities and in a nice location that is a small walk to the centre

The pillows were very high and thick, that was not ideal to sleep on. The bathrooms had no ventilation, so it was very hot and damp in there after showering. Some extra hooks or shelves in the room would have been nice.
The hostel is very new, so everything was very tidy and new. The beds were comfortable, the room was nice and dark. The staff was super friendly and helped us book a really nice boat trip.

The location is a bit of a walk . So be prepared to walk about 15-20 mins with luggage from the pier
Nice clean hostel . Washrooms were squeaky clean . Honestly I had a bad experience and was skeptical after staying at a different hostel on the island but this was amazing .They also have a small free breakfast on the morning . Would love to come back again .

Only downside was the 10 bed dorms were very cramped and we had no where to put our back packs. Otherwise was lovely and the nicest hostel we have stayed in.
Beds were big and very comfy. Staff were lovely and helpful. They had laundry facilites which was a surprise for us. Nice and quiet but easy to meet people on the balcony.

The property was hard to find as it’s a new hustle none of the locals we asked directions from had heard of it. And google/Apple Maps didn’t help.
The property was super clean and the staff always there to help with a smile. Never stayed in such clean bathroom especially in a hostel. They also provided some food and shampoo, conditioner and body wash which is always nice. The location is great however everything is close when it comes to this island. All other hostels closer to the beach are super loud until early hours in the morning. Here it’s so nice and quiet yet only a walk away from the nightlife

The rooms were freezing overnight which wouldn’t have been a problem normally but the duvets they provided were extremely small and didn’t keep me warm.
It was clean and modern. The shower and toilet facilities were also very good. The staff were super friendly and helpful

Ac was way too cold. It was freezing in the room. Bathrooms were filled with bugs and mosquitos as soon as it gets dark. Not a social hostel and long way from the pier.

Everything i told them their bed has bed bugs she didn't even offer wash my clothes or give my money back ...stay clear !!!
I got horrendous BED BUGS!¡¡¡¡¡ ITS COVERED MY HOLE BODY ...I AM IN SO SUCH DISCOMFORT .. Ruined my stay here just want to get out of here .

Although the location is quiet it’s a bit of a walk to get into town and the surrounding area is under construction.
The beds were comfortable and the accommodation was kept clean by the staff continuously. The location is relatively quiet.

There aren’t enough bathrooms for the number of people staying here since the toilets and showers are combined. The bathrooms are also pretty gross. They could improve the experience with just a little investment, I.e putting up shower curtains so the bathrooms are less gross. They need some kind of house rules as well. There were people leaving their stuff strewn all over the room, lots of people walking around in their underwear, being extremely loud late at night, turning the AC to 20 C, etc. I know these are caused by the other guests, but the hostel is responsible for having rules and signage to remind people of basic etiquette. Overall, not a bad place to stay in Phi Phi, but it could be very easily improved. The other reviews made it sound much nicer than it actually is.
This hostel is solidly good. It has good places to dry wet beach clothes. The location is good and the price is affordable.
