The place was so nice. We where upgraded to a better room. Just because it was free. We had an amazing view from our bungalows. Nono was just and original. He gave us super advices for the island and for our next stops. He cooked us two times an amazing sea food dinner. I can only recommend this place. If you wanna make a stop between Phuket and Krabi. Stay at Esmeralda View.

The greatest hotel we have ever visited. We like nature and you get that here. We were received extremely friendly, got an orange juice and fresh mango from the hotel garden. You immediately feel comfortable and in good hands. Nono (the chef and right hand of the boss) shows you the different rooms, explains the wildlife of Thailand and shows you the most beautiful places on the island. Nono does all of this with a fascinating enthusiasm. Thanks for that Nono! We were allowed to pick fresh bananas at any time and were given some on our onward journey. You get a delicious breakfast / luch and dinner. I recommend everyone who is a friend of nature and humanity to book this hotel. The beach on which the property is located was too dirty in January. Looks like its seasonal, so better to stay on this side of the island if you are travelling in June/July.

Beach needed raking, but that is very minor. It did not take away from my enjoyment of the location.

Staff went above and beyond. An idyllic location. Incredible views and a tranquil private beach. The food is fantastic. I didn't feel the need to leave the resort most days as you have everything you could want at the resort. Breakfast is a varied and generous buffet. Beach towels and accessories available to borrow. Scooters available to rent. Pay extra for the sea view, it's worth it.

The bathroom is outdated and should be renovated.

It is a very cute bungalow with seaview. The staff, especially Nono was great and helped us with everything we needed. It is a quiet location next to the see and the bungalows are hidden in nature. If you rent a scooter it’s the perfect location. Breakfast is not very special, but definitely okay.

Everything. Superfriendly, kind and helpful staff which will help you with every request with smile. Big spacious well equipped houses with large terrasses. Everything perfectly clean. Basically 5 star service for very reasonable price. We asked for late checkout as our flight was in the evening. They apologized for having the same house booked on the same day and offered (and provided) different house of the same quality. Wow! And the food is also very good. The best accommodation we had in Thailand. If we would go back we would definitely spend here more time.

The bungalows are more rustic, so some lizards were in and out of my place, leaving behind their droppings and chirping through the majority of the night. Please note that the island is not the most walkable, so a scooter is highly advised. Traffic is low and the roads are cleared of debris and loose gravel, so it is an easy island to learn to drive the scooter. In my experience, places that rent scooters actually rent out scooters that are owned by individuals rather than a business, so your experience will vary depending on the state of the scooter (take photos, test brakes and lights, etc.).

Beautiful little island perfect for some quiet enjoyment and interactions with locals. Esmeralda View was a cute and comfortable little resort. The bungalows (at least the one I stayed in) had wifi and beautiful views. There is a little beach access, though as others have pointed out it is rocky. The staff were the best part of the stay (and Nono's food!). Pond at reception was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, but all staff members were friendly and accomodating. The island is beautiful and easy to navigate. Lots of amazing local restaurants -- you really can't go wrong. I didn't have a bad meal once!

Breakfast could have some more healthy options, everything was either very sweet or made of white flour. Porridge or some veggies would have been nice, for example.

Surprisingly secluded and pleasant resort. Amazing views from almost everywhere. Long beach beneath the property where you can go for walks early or late in the day, at least during low tide. Barely any people. Very nice room, comfortably designed not just for sleeping but also for staying there during daytime. Very good food. Friendly staff.

The Esmeralda was our absolute favourite stay in Thailand. Set on the gorgeous, serene and peaceful island of Koh Yao Yai, the resort is made up of several beautiful and well maintained bungalows, some of which look directly out onto the sea. The very best part of this resort though is it's staff, they are all so helpful and friendly, and can't do enough for you. Special shout out to Nono (the amazing chef, driver and Thai teacher!), and Pond (on front of house, who is an absolute ray of sunshine every day and is so happy and helpful). As you'd expect the location is remote, but there are scooters available to rent for 300 Baht per day.

- check-in was rather a bit slower - bathroom needs to be updated, this was the only reason we felt unsure of the room as there was an army of red ants working on some project, bathroom window held by only a strong belief and shower needs to be solved as this type of stuff I had as a kid at grandpa’s cabin in the woods however hotel bathroom should be better

- serenity and calmness - amazing view - super hospitality - the very best food in Thailand (seriously your chef is the most amazing and humble cook, I would come back just because of him and not anything else) - check-out was a breeze, fast and prepared

- the room was not well sealed, so the air conditioner struggled to cool the room - they included a duvet with cover (which is great)! but with the air con not fully cooling the place, I was too hot and would have preferred a sheet as well - the breakfast was varied but everything is left out in the heat for 2 hours, so if you come later, the food is soggy, there are flies and the meat has sat out. - the family keeps roosters in the property. they didn’t venture to our area, but seemed to hang out near the non sea view cabins. if you had one of those rooms, you may hear them in the morning

- quiet! away from motorbike noise and other noises - daily cleaning, including additional water bottles - the room was spacious and had a lovely view! if you can choose one of the sea view rooms, do it! they feel very private and relaxing - the breakfast, while sugar heavy, had a lot of options. this was a nice change from the standard toast and egg breakfast found everywhere else - the staff were very friendly, however only one seemed to speak English, which presented a challenge

First impressions count, and the first impression is the view - stunning karst scenery from the chill out area, no one could get bored with that view! We were given a choice of rooms and opted for a smaller bedroom but with an outside shower, which I loved! Lovely room - a big comfy bed with mosquito net, veranda with loungers, and plenty of space. Amazing food in the restaurant, with beer and wine available - thank you NuNu. Kayaking is available (extra fee), which provides a different set of stunning views. Sufficient bars and restaurants are within walking distance, those that we sampled were all good.

The service is slow only because there is a lot of demand and not many people to serve everyone. But, it is worth the wait. The beds were not the most comfortable but we accepted that.

The staff at Esmeralda are so incredibly nice and helpful. As others have said, the view from the deck is absolutely beautiful. We felt very much at home , relaxed and met some really nice people. I would definitely recommend Esmeralda View Resort

It offers amazing accommodation especially if you have a view in the front row of bungalows! The view is just magical ✨The staff is so helpful but you have to be a bit patient because Pond, the sweet girl at the reception, does so many chores by herself! Nono is the chef & driver so he is so busy with all the chores as well! So you must be patient during dinner time 😇
