Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomQuiet end beach, not far to walk in restaurants and bars. In our group we had 3 different types of room. The superior and deluxe were good rooms, the standard was disappointing. Staff helpful and booked us taxis and a trip. Would recommend the snorkelling trip with Oxygen, max 25 people. Bit more expensive but worth it.

FinlandQuite expensive accommodation as the bungalows would need a little touch up, especially the toilets. Bungalows also looks lot bigger in pictures, there’s not lot of space for luggages or toiletries.
It’s right on the beach and in the calm side of Sairee Beach, yet still walkable.

United KingdomRestaurant needed some improvement in the catering side
The lady in reception who I think was the owner was extremely helpful. If you needed anything then she sorted it for you. We had a Delux Villa Room and it was decent size, very comfortable and was cleaned to a good standard each day. Breakfast was not included in price of the room. It was extra. We did have breakfast there a couple of times. It could be improved greatly. Would definitely go back again.

PolandWaiter in the hotel restaurant is not nice - first unkind Thai I have ever met…Food in the restaurant is weak but nearby you can find better places to eat.
Nice and clean villa at the end of the sairee beach, but dont expect beach in paradise style. Very helpful Lady at the reception (mostly only person who can speak with you and understand) who can arrange transfers to the pier or wherever you wish.

United KingdomThe rooms were in need of some serious renovation. Lots of the bits in the bathroom especially were hanging on by a thread and seemed very fragile. There was also notable gaps between door frames and windows so we had a few lizards come into the room, which is fine but it was more so an issue for the noise outside. The shower area was also not very functional (see photos) the wooden boarded area as flooded every time we showered, consequently flooding the whole bathroom. Some of the staff weren’t always very polite, this was half and half some staff were also lovely but they were not all always very useful or kind. A big factor in the low comfort rating was that they had purposefully welded the key to the electricity card, meaning that you could not keep the Air conditioning on when out of the room this was quite upsetting given it was not a cheap stay and we felt we should have been able to control the air on as we pleased, especially given the bad insulation of the room as it was actually hotter in there than outside! When asking for a spare key given we were in 2 they said they could not give us one.
Location was amazing, walking distance to the main part of Koh Tao but far away enough that y was nice and quiet. We were also able to rent a moped from the hotel which was very easy and the same price roughly as elsewhere. Breakfast and lunch was not included but very nice food

The bungalows are very spacious and comfortable, we stayed in 3 hotels in Koh Tao and we slept best at palm leaf resort, the beds are huge, the air con works well and keeps it cool overnight, and it’s super quiet ! Super close to the beach and you get sunbeds and umbrellas too.

GermanyWell...as mentioned by others, the two old sisters running the resort, are not very customer friendly. You can feel from the first moment their eagerness for money. Only because I did not book the return ferry ticket from the resort, I had to pay additional 400 Baht for the resort taxi from and to the pier! The one day boat trip (Diamond Tours) around the island was also not a good one, because the boat was in very bad shape...so better book it in the village close to the pier. Luckily the staff on the boat were great and made us some amazing underwater pictures while snorkelling. The one old lady renting motorcycle from the resort, tried to make me pay for one broken phone holder, although I just did'nt do it. But she gave me that motorcycle without showing me all the damages up front and one day later she claimed I did broke that thing. So better you just walk on the main road, some 50m to left from resort gate and up the hill: there is a bike renting placve there, which is renting for the same price 250 baht / day and is very friendly! You will need a bike for sure, if you wish to experience the whole island! Regarding the bath room, it had some bad smell of public urinal, which was inhibited on my complaint by use of some air refreshener item. The price of 100 EUR / night, without breakfast and without complimentary taxi from / to the pier is relatively high, considering the unfriendly atmosphere created by the two old sisters running the resort...
The resort has one of the best location on the north of Sairee Beach. Near by is one of the best high class restaurants Rim Lae, with still decent prices and very good Thai and seefood for dinner (although the Chief Cook and all staff are from Myanmar and are not Thai - which is the same staff situation all over the island!). I had booked the ocean front bungalow, which (although had seen in the past its best days), is still a nice one to enjoy the evening (be aware of plenty of blood thirsty mosquitos) and sleep at night. The space inside the bungalow is large enough, air conditioner is working good and quiet (although typical Thai style oriented on the bed), the bathroom is large and warm/hot water is available there. I liked alot the comfy mattress (not typical hard Thai style!!) and good linen. To visit the islands several beaches, I rented a motorcycle, but not from the resort (see negative points to understand why). One of the best snorkelling places is the Tanote bay which even does not ask you extra money, unlike the Ao Leuk bay, or Shark bay where you have to pay extra 50Baht / person entry. Riding a motorcycle to Tanote bay request you to handle some steep roads but there I experienced a variety of wonderfull colored and up to 50cm size fish, just a few meters from the beach. At Ao Leauk bay, if you are lucky, you can see some baby sharks and at the Shark bay I saw 1m size huge turtles (koh tao = island of turtle). Majority of island tourist were 20...30 years young farangs (foreigners), and for them there is also a vivant night life with walking street and bars and pubs. All in all, Koh Tao is a wonderfull island (pity that they did not found a solution for the huge waste of plastics etc) and is now one of my favourite islands in Thailand.

The beach right is front has no reefs and is perfect for swimming! The staff is friendly and puts a great effort to suffice your needs. Highly recommend!
