Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomRooms very slippy when wet and flood when it rains (turned out to be big issue for us)
We had terrible weather for our stay so didn't get to make the most of it. The staff at the bar and restaurant were amazing, as were the cleaners. The reception staff were a bit more hit and miss. You need to be relatively fit to get around, big hills and lots of steps. Beach is gorgeous, spa good, rooms decent size.

IrelandThe location not great - need to take taxi to anyplace out - but you have lots activities in the hotel. The resort is in the mountains so to get to the reception/ pool/ restaurant and other facilities from your room you need to walk few minutes in the hills which quite tiring, the hotel not offering tok tok services. The design is more on the old side but well maintained and looks more authentic so not that bad.
Expectational service !! We enjoyed a lot from the service. The level of service is way above any 4 star hotel we experienced so far. From the moment of check in you understand that they are here to give you the best experience. The attention to the details is great. The resort offers yoga classes and live music + fire show at the restaurant in the beach in dinner time. Rooms are very big and comfortable. Amazing bed.

United KingdomThere are very steep and long steps to walk from rooms to the restaurant and reception. The resort is completely unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues and this should be stated clearly. The restaurant staff don't speak English well and can be difficult to communicate clearly with. They are very friendly but they are not very skilled at hospitality and had a habit of serving up starters and main courses together and sometimes serving up meals for you and your partner at different times. During our stay there was a wedding that took over a large part of the beach and the entire restaurant in the evening. The resort did offer to serve meals in guest rooms that evening, but it really wasn't appropriate to deny regular guests access to facilities they have paid for. If weddings are going to be held at the resort, then the wedding event should use separate facilities, which the resort appears to have. In summary, the resort seemed to lack any duty management to direct the obviously inexperienced staff and on Valentines day evening when the restaurant was full, the service was appalling, which appeared to be because the staff didn't know how to monitor who needing serving and to ensure that each guest was served in turn and not experiencing long delays. We had to wait 30 minutes before we were even given a menu to view and then a long wait to get drinks and our meals, which were served at different times and with starters and mains together and parts of the meal served late only after a reminder.
Beautiful location, stunning views. The bay has incredible snorkelling where it is possible to see not only a wide range of reef fish but also sea turtles and black tip reef sharks. The water is crystal clear other than when it is windy and the bottom is disturbed. The resort is very remote, which is part of its charm. Fortunately the resort offers a free shuttle service to and from Mae Head where there are many restaurants and bars and other shops and of course many scuba diving establishments. Sai Daeng has its own dive centre on the beach with an excellent dive master and nearby access to excellent dive sites, so there's really no need to go elsewhere for scuba diving. The weather was perfect for 8 of our 12 days, but when the weather is not good, there is very little to do, so be sure to bring something to read and/or listen to. We were OK to sit out the two days of bad weather, so it didn't affect us, but if you booked for just a few days and the weather is bad, it might be a bad experience. The pool with its pool bar and happy hour cocktails is very chilled.

NetherlandsThe receptionist that welcomed us was very unpleasant. He had a lot of attitude, seemed bothered to even answer basic questions, didn’t explain much about how the facilities works and was very rude later on the phone, when we called to mention that the room was not ready when we arrived - no bedsheets on pillows, no towels in the bathroom. The restaurant quality is extremely low. Apart from the food which, unfortunately, is terrible - fries were uncooked, sandwiches were barely edible - we also had dirty cutleries. That being said, the restaurant staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
The location is incredible. Waking up with the sound of the sea was magical, with so much green and nature around you. The small beach had an incredible fauna, we have never seen so many fishes and we were so stoked to see small sharks and turtles. We also took some of the classes that the resort offers, and we had such a lovely day waking up with yoga in the morning and learning a bit of Muay Thai in the afternoon.

NetherlandsThe service and food at the restaurant was not great, for both breakfast and other options throughout the day. Definitely a point that could be improved to reach perfection!
The whole resort is gorgeous, immersed in nature and filled with flowers. The rooms are spacious and the bed incredibly comfy, the beach was perfect for Snorkeling. They offer activities daily like yoga which is super nice. The SPA was really good too and the service there was impeccable.

FinlandThere wasn’t enough towels at the gym and not enough cups to drink water. Room cleaning service was rather late in the afternoon. The breakfast venue was at the beach so it was a long walk and a lot of stairs from our room. But it’s really a small inconvinience and the views were very beautiful :)
The location was a bit remote but very beautiful and it was easy to get around with a rental scooter (although there were pretty steep up- and downhills to the resort). Our seaview room was beautiful, very nice views from the window and balcony. We were able to rent a scooter during our check in (350baht/day). There was no insurance but everything went smoothly and there were no problems during returnal. The gym was really good compared to the normal gyms in Thai hotels (smith, lots of dumbbells, weightbars, 3 treadmills). Breakfast was pretty basic, but good.

DenmarkIf there’s one area for improvement, it’s the breakfast. It’s a bit hit-or-miss due to an odd rotation system—one day you get delicious bacon and waffles, the next day it’s boiled ham and mainly Asian dishes. A bit more consistency would go a long way. Also, housekeeping happens quite late in the afternoon, which can be inconvenient. It would be great if they rotated the cleaning order each day. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the pool. It was very dirty and full of green algae, clearly not well maintained. For a resort of this caliber, this is a bit of a disgrace—it really needs better upkeep. That said, these are minor issues compared to everything else Sai Daeng Resort offers. If you’re looking for a beautiful, peaceful retreat with outstanding views and world-class snorkeling, this is the place to be. We would absolutely stay here again!
We had an incredible stay at Sai Daeng Resort! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views from our room—absolutely stunning. The rooms themselves are spacious, well-maintained, and offer the perfect setting for a relaxing island escape. One of the biggest highlights of our stay was the snorkeling. If you’re staying here, you must snorkel on the cliffside of the hotel. It’s an unforgettable experience with crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral, and an abundance of marine life. The beachside snorkeling is okay, but it simply doesn’t compare to the cliffside. The staff were fantastic—always friendly, helpful, and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. A standout moment was when they offered us complimentary breakfast, even though it wasn’t included in our booking—a small but very appreciated gesture. The daily free shuttle to town is also a huge plus, making it easy to explore Koh Tao without hassle. WiFi was decent, but you’ll need to switch networks occasionally for the best connection—not a big deal, but something to be aware of.

FranceOverprice services (spa, restaurant, diving) and the food at the restaurant is mediocre. I ate there twice and I got disappointed.
The bedroom was very big and comfortable, the bed was nice, amazing view and great location (very quiet but yet not too far from the “city”). The wifi is great. And they offer free services like yoga courses, gym, beach towels, beach bed, taxi shuttle, etc

AustraliaThe food at the rescue restaurant was just okay, nothing special. Better food in town and for cheaper.
Incredible location. Ocean views from everywhere, beautiful restaurant setting, great breakfast buffet, lovely rooms. I like that the resort is a bit out of town because the main town was very busy and hectic. This was an oasis escape!

United KingdomThere was lots of options for breakfast but a lot of them were quite strange and poor quality - I’d suggest offering fewer options but improving the quality of what’s on offer. The level of English spoken by staff at the restaurant was very limited. We felt that the quality of service at the reception and at the restaurant (alongside the food) didn’t quite match the high cost of staying at the resort. The location and beach are amazing so if SainDeng resort can sort out these other issues then it’d be an incredible place to stay.
Incredible view and location on a secluded gorgeous beach (private beach in essence given not many people come here). Great snorkelling right off the beach and also a scuba company operates out of the beach so you don’t have to travel to the other side of the island to dive. Great happy hour at the pool bar from 4-6pm, Oscar the barman makes some great cocktails! Also worth noting you need to rent a motorbike if you want to go elsewhere on the island. They rent them for 350 baht a day at the resort (to be aware usual price is 200 a day on the other side of the island). Yoga with Amy was also amazing :)

Germany- It's extremely hilly and especially for elderly people or people with walking difficulties it is absolutely not to recommend! - we had to change the room for my mum which was had beach access but she had to climb up and down to get to the reception and before thst had to cross huge rocks on the beach - not just the beach itself which poses a huge risk to hotel guests
- The hotel structure with its views are exceptional - Food and service was good

ItalyMale staff at the reception are really not helpful and not polite; they should upgrade their willingness to support as a 4 stars hotel (that’s maybe why 4 and not 5). The breakfast is low end since there are few things to eat and it should be upgraded. Be prepared and be fit since you will face a lot of stairs and hills. We had issue with hot water (few rooms we heard) so they changed our room the day after with food credit and a massage for free, much appreciated.
Best position in ko tao, very nice and cozy rooms harmonised with nature and design. People of the bar and part of the reception staff ladies, especially the tallest one) are very professionals. Only the ladies to be honest.

United KingdomTaxi's to and from the resort are necessary especially with kids. Scooters and walking not always at option. The stairs are definitely good for fitter younger people. Not sure what people would do who have trouble with mobility. The pool could do with a wind break (maybe just our time of year) to protect it more from the back wind.
As a family of 5 we had two sea-facing rooms with an additional mattress at a surcharge. The rooms were clean, stylish and had good aircon. The view was amazing. They had a reasonable restaurant on site and a bar with a private beach. We loved that it was quiet and away from the busier streets. The snorkelling was amazing. They offered activities daily and the yoga was great. There is an on site Spa. The staff work hard and are friendly and attentive.
