Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IsraelMaybe the only minor annoyance is that there are no locks on the lockers and you must bring your own or buy one for 60 baht from the hostel (only lock with key available, couldn't find a coded one nearby). Also, there are no curtains or a private space to get dressed, which is more challenging in a mixed dorm. Beware you must book this place about two weeks in advance since it gets sold out! But the cancellation policy is convenient. BTW: Unlike some reviews, I was never woken up by the roosters because I simply slept with earplugs. Wasn't a problem.
After traveling for 7 months and sleeping in more than 50 hostels, I can honestly say this is one of the best hostels in the world. This hostel has the social backpacker vibe that I love and I instantly made friends here. The property and design are gorgeous, functional and modern. The location is perfect since it's away from ugly touristic part of town and there are free shuttles every day from the hostels to beaches and attractions (shuttles to/from the Peir are 100 baht). You can do without a scooter if you really don't want it. I was in the 6 bed mixed dorm and it felt luxurious. A/C was central and even throughout the room. Super clean - they even change the sheets every couple of days and you can always get a fresh bath towel. I only stayed 10 days and would easily stay for another month if I could

PhilippinesNo curtains for the beds. The reception staff can smile a little bit or maybe because I am Asian too. This happens in Asia. Not sure as I have not observed him with the western guests.
Bed is big for one person and very clean. The place gives you a hotel vibe.

United KingdomThe main member of staff on reception was very blunt and to the point rather than welcoming, but all the other staff members keep you feeling very welcome.
Loved our Room it was very quiet, comfortable and amazing views of the jungle. Diving with the resort was incredible, loved Jane, our diving guide he couldn't have been any better.

Breakfast was always delicious, and they had a full menu of drinks and food available throughout the day if you wanted to stay at the hostel for a meal. The pool was very nice and felt like an oasis. Staff was super friendly and was always there to attend to any needs or offer recommendations. One of the best parts of this hostel is the daily programming. They offer a free shuttle each day to different beaches around the island and even have BBQs / movie nights / game nights. 10/10 would stay here again. Always clean, great aircon and great location.

BelgiumHonestly it is rare that I cannot find something negative to say about an accommodation but this one is truly the best in town!
My favorite hostel in Koh Tao. The receptionist with the dreadlocks is a sweetheart and I came back to the hostel thanks to her kindness. The dorms are comfortable with enough space and the bathroom is neat and clean. They organise a free shuttle ride to a different beach every day and take us to a spot to see the sunset every two days. Very appreciable!

Great hostel, the free daily beach shuttle makes the hostel so worthwhile if you don’t drive a moped as taxis around the island are very expensive.

NetherlandsThe guy at the reception seemed annoyed in his communication with guests which didn’t make a nice impression but might have just been a bad day or two. I did the open water padi there which was okay (always felt safe), not a lot of interaction with the instructor or group though, not many people on the boat for the dives or other crew who shared the excitement like I noticed with most other diving schools. Might depend on start date/ group/instructor/ set up though.
The room was spacious and each bed has its own little shelf and box to lock the backpack. The breakfast was okay and there is free water if you bring your own bottle. Nice to have the pool and the big rooftop terrace. Location was fine even without a scooter.

United KingdomThe only slightly negative thing is that we have experienced nicer pool areas and the pool seems to be in the shade a lot of the time.
The most beautiful room ever! We stayed in the deluxe room and it was such a treat. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever. During our stay, my partner became unwell and the staff went out of their way to bring up some electrolytes for us. The hostel also has daily shuttles to different beaches as well as other activities. If you wanted more of a holiday pace trip, you could easily stay at this place and see some lovely places just from their shuttle service. We also got complimentary breakfast with our room as well as the free buffet and the complimentary breakfast was amazing too!

NetherlandsIt was very big and very clean, the staff was nice and helpful. Also a pretty social hostel! Even though the location was not in the most central area, a lot could still be reached by foot (if you don’t want to drive a scooter) and the hostel also offered beach shuttles everyday.

AustraliaLoved staying here, one of the highlights of my trip. Chill and social hostel, met so many amazing people. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm with single beds and it felt almost luxurious!!! Also lots of nice common areas to hang around in and get some work done, and appreciated that there was space to hang wet swimmers/clothes too. I never ended up utilising it but there is a free shuttle to various beaches every day, and events at night. Breakfast at around 8~9AM is the perfect time to socialise, and the glass noodles are surprisingly delicious… I never leave reviews but I loved my experience at The Dearly so I thought I should leave one. I’ll be back soon! ❤️
