There's zero atmosphere, they didn't really have anything to offer us at breakfast (we're vegan), there was no hot water for the duration of our stay. The floors weren't really clean so when you got into bed you had to scrape all the dust off your feet or have a dirty bed. There were a million signs of things not to do (don't hang your clothes here, don't leave your bag out, don't wear your shoes upstairs), and it gave the place a real negative energy.

We liked the option for a double bed in the dorm. The bathroom facilities were nice and clean and the staff member who helped us was exceptional.

We were looking for a more sociable backpacker style hostel ideally, but the Old Town wasn’t really that vibe. Not the fault of the Dorm Hostel, just not what you would find in Phuket Old Town I think.

The hostel is extremely clean and the staff were very welcoming. We stayed twice at the Dorm Hostel and Eieng was a wonderful host for both of our stays. She was very helpful, washing and drying our clothes for us and providing us with toast each morning, as well as working hard to keep the hostel in a constant cleanly state. Poe was very helpful also, organising our transfers to and from the islands, and bus back to the airport. This hostel is very calm and quiet, and ideal for couples as you can stay in double beds in the dorm as well as single if you are travelling solo. It is also excellent value for money and very close to the main strip of the old town. We would highly recommend the Dorm Hostel :)

Not being given a double bed when it say so on the listing - dishonest. Being told off by the staff for the hostel sink overflowing due to their bad plumbing, and also being told I HAVE to use the washing machine to wash clothes. I washed ONE pair of trainer socks and panties in the sink, as this was not enough for a big wash. The sink plumbing was bad so it partially drained out on the floor when I took the plug out - which I didn't know it would do of course as there was no warning or sign. The staff then had a go at me, making me come out to see the water spillage etc after they had walked past muttering loudly and very annoyed. I should not HAVE to use anything I don't want to in the hostel, I should also be able to wash small items in the sink. It is the fault of the facility if they have bad plumbing and no signage to warn guests. I said about the sign and they put one up but banning washing items, which I think is unfair on other travelers and a waste of water too if someone doesn't have lots of things to wash. I only needed a small amount. The breakfast was very modest/uninspiring and not what was pictured :( so it's definitely oversold in the listing description as I wouldn't eat it again! The dorm room is also jam packed with 20 beds, but only has 3 shared toilets and showers !! There are also not enough lockers for everyone to securely store their stuff and no luggage storage either which I think isn't great for a hostel!! If it were busier than it was (only a few people staying in the dorm) it would have been really awkward with space, keeping belongings secure, accessing showers etc.

Spacious and comfortable single bed, with good AC in the room and a personal fan. HOWEVER it is listed on Booking.com as a DOUBLE bed, which it is very much not. So I was expecting a double bed but given a single, which was dishonest & misleading - I only booked for the double bed! - so this needs to be taken off the listing! Initially staff seemed friendly but only one person in the hostel does everything (cooking, cleaning, booking) so by the end it was clear they maybe weren't enjoying their time there and it was false smiles.

-Sheets not clean, lots of stains and hair, they smelled fresh but there were fresh balls of hair all over our sheets. The dorm also stunk of damp/BO. Had to have our towels changed as they also were not clean. -Woken up at 11.30pm by staff bringing new guests into dorm. So loud stomping, talking and messing with bags. Said staff member proceeded to open our privacy curtain to ask if we knew someone… then again to apologise for noise. They proceeded to tell us a random man (not a guest) was sleeping in the bed opposite us, they’ve had an issues with him sneaking in previously. It was very hard to feel safe here after the intruder and having our curtain opened late at night. Especially knowing how the staff never seem to be manning the reception. -Staff are never around. After the above issue you would expect 24hr security. We saw so many people come and go because the staff were not around to assist with rooms. -Room gets very hot and fan too loud to have on throughout night. -Lots of older people, including one creepy guy asking me for dinner, staring at me and peeking in my bed. I think age limits are good for this reason. -Huge rooms, worked out there is up to 37 people with just 3 toilets/showers. -2 of the 3 shower heads were broken so couldn’t have more than a quick wash in those. Also, restricted room and there is a huge outdoor dustbin taking up half the shower. -Not the hostels fault but so many messy inconsiderate guests.

-Reception staff, when around were friendly. -Free breakfast, basic and automatically comes out with sausage and egg with toast (don’t check dietary) but still nice considering it is included with room rate. -Water refills, hot and cold!

Nothing to dislike. Only suggestion to put milk option in breakfast. I booked for 1 day, want to stay for other 2days, but unfortunately no bed was available.. That's my bad luck.

Every thing is perfect. I like reception guy from myanmar, simple & so cooperative. Nice bed, nice & cleen bathroom, comfortable bed, full privacy in bed after put down curtain, no light comes inside, stand to put mobile, hanger for towel, Ac is perfect. Very closed to night market. It was the first time I saw double beds in a hostel and it was great as I could sleep comfortably with my husband in the same bed. It was also clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The bathroom was flooded before we arrived and it was still flooded when we left. There was a damp smell around the building as well after you went through the doors of the gathering area to the rooms. On the morning, the staff were having breakfast and woke us up at around 6am from loud clattering and conversations. Would I stay here again... Only for a night. You may as well stay where you want in Phuket and hire a bike to go to the old town.

The location to the old town is great; you can get there within a 5-10 minute walk depending on where you want to be. We actually ended up with a private room with shared bathroom. The bed was comfy and led to a decent sleep.

-girl at the reception is nice but it’s so difficult to understand her English -i had to wait almost 1 hour to do the check-in, there was nobody at the reception -booked for 4 nights but left earlier, due to the constant noise during the night, which made me impossible to sleep properly even with earplugs (the big fan, the fan from the room behind me that made a terrible noise, people snoring, crazy russian guy shouting in the middle of the night, people walking) -the lockers are FULL of ants, and so my luggage for several days after leaving the place

It is what it is for a dorm hostel. Don't expect much, which helps a lot!

The staff went above and beyond and this was a perfect place at a good price for an accommodation in central Phuket town. Right next door is a cheap Michelin starred restaurant with the best pad krapao I've ever had!
