Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ThailandWhy not excellent you may ask? Because on almost every occasion I have stayed here, I have always been disturbed by noise of some kind. The most common noise in this hotel is screaming children running around, banging from the room above or to the side but also there is always some form of industrial drilling or metallic banging in the area near the hotel. You would think that there might be some form of noise insulation but there is not, everything can be heard from outside and in the next room. I do like this hotel because it is the only one in Chiang Rai which really knows how to look after their guests, unfortunately, the designers/owners of the building didn't invest in soundproofing of any kind which really affects the whole experience. My advice is don't stay any longer than 2 nights because the inter-room noise, even in an almost empty hotel (which was the case for my latest visit) is always present. The hotel has also recently reduced the size of and moved its fitness room in favour of more child-related entertainment which is a real shame because the original fitness room was a good size and very well equipped. Now it is smaller with far less equipment and very little space to exercise. On my most recent visits I have felt that there is a definite move by the hotel to attract families rather than couples or singles travellers. So you might want to check out the other riverside hotel nearby if you want a peaceful relaxing hotel, unless of course you don't mind kids running around and screaming in literally every part of the hotel including right outside your room.
I travel to Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai several times per year with my girlfriend to visit her parents so I have stayed in almost every hotel in the area. The Riverie is a safe choice for anyone visiting the city because it ticks nearly all the boxes for an enjoyable stay. I have stayed here probably 10 times of the last 3 years living in Thailand and this hotel is consistently very good.

IndiaLight switches in the room if labelled will be helpful and easy to use.
We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The 8th floor room was quiet, cozy, comfortable with a good view of the river and from garden. The breakfast lay was good and tasty food. Even the al-carte dinners, we enjoyed by the riverside where the entire space was beautifully decorated with LED lights. Very romantic and quiet. Staff was helpful for guidance and information about the town.

AustraliaWe had 3 rooms booked in total and only one of them was ready when we arrived at 2.00. The other two were only ready at 3 pm. The breakfast time was so hectic that it was hard to find a spot for all of us.
Great place and a lot to look around. The decoration was amazing and we had so much fun walking around at night. Loved the art exhibitions of local artists. The indoor play place was amazing. The rooftop bar has the best view of Chiang Rai.

United KingdomWhen we checked in we weren’t given any information like other hotels. It was only the next day did we realize that there was a shuttle bus in the evening and that you Could walk into town in about 15-20 minutes. On our last evening we realized that there was a restaurant up on the top floor. Again if we had been told we would have had dinner there one evening. Staff at breakfast were slow to respond to refilling items and slow to lay tables and clear up. Great hotel but just lacking in information from the staff.
Lovely hotel, spacious clean and loved the light garden.
