Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

LuxembourgBreakfast was a little disappointing. I stayed 5 nights and the fruit offered never varied from.pineapple and melon.
Very central location a short walk to the Night Bazaar. Calm area, although surrounded by massage parlours. A good sized, comfortable room with a writing desk and fridge.

GermanyLike a lost place, funny vibe and decorum like communist Europe in the 80ies. If that's not amusing to you, this might not be your place.
Great location, great staff, good breakfast options, bar & restaurant on site. Clean. Like a lost place, funny vibe and decorum like communist Europe in the 80ies. Loved it.

United KingdomAs with other reviews, this hotel is dated like most in Chiang Rai apparently. It was giving 90’s. Breakfast could have done with more drinks/juice options and more fruit/yoghurt options as well. Not enough sockets in the bedrooms, there were 2 in the room, one for the kettle and one for the tv. Would like to see this brought up to modern day as most people charge phones, watches, etc. overnight. Furthermore, as we had a road facing room, there was a bit of noise from bars during the night but not enough to disrupt our stay.
Location was perfect, room was clean and spacious. It was replenished with fresh towels and toiletries daily. My partner very much enjoyed the bath which we have found to be a rarity across Thailand. Decent view from our room across town on the 5th floor. Kettle and fridge in the room was a plus too. Breakfast was okay, decent mix of Thai and western options. Staff were very welcoming offering a drink upon arrival and made us feel at ease in the morning and evenings. The doorman brought our bags in for us too which was a lovely touch. Bed was big and comfy and there were extra pillows in the wardrobe with robes and slippers too.

Hotel is OK, dated but good location to bars 👍 Rooms are noisy at certain times during day and night. Plus some have unpleasant aromas. Not sure what causes the noise, could be water tanks ?!?

Hotel large and comfy. Yes it needs a refit but the rooms are spotless and bathroom is sufficient. It's a bed for the night while you are seeing the sites of chiang Rai do you do not need bells and whistle add ons

United StatesTerrible wifi. Wifi is important in our travels, planning next steps, looking up restaurants and local sites to see. Would have liked a choice of softer pillows.
Room spacious, comfy bed, nice shower. Breakfast was good. Most mornings we were nearly alone in that huge dining room (7:30am-9am time range). Our last morning we were there at 6am to get to our flight along with 3 (+) tour bus loads of people, dining room packed to the max, few seats available, long lines for food. We still got ourselves fed, but it was not the usual leisurely meal.

SingaporePower point was only one in the room (was supposed to use for the electronic kettle). It is old hotel that's why lack of the power points. Breakfast can be improved. Was a bit noise at night, some bars near there.
Great location near the walking street and night bazaar. Need parking lot so it was great. Old facility but has everything, convenient. Bed was comfortable.

ThailandThe decor of the interior may look a bit worn out (but not inside the room). Also, it'd be nice if they have a fitness center (what I did was to walk around the hotel for 1 hour after dinner--and I could get a glimpse of the nearby Jet Yord temple too).
I can say that any time I come to Chiang Rai I'd stay here at the Wangcome Hotel. Many friends ask me why. My simple answer is they have the same respect for me as a valued customer. They don't treat me lowly because I'm a Thai and they have other western or non-Thai clients. No. I always love this reception and the fact that they have been around for a long time, meaning that they have survived all the odds, including the pandemic. In fact, I think I've used their service for a little more than 15 years now, and will still continue going back there. In sum, I love their breakfast buffet, the comfy beds, excellent shower pressure (and hot water--almost instantly), and, most of all, their wonderful service--always in bright smiles and I always get informative answers from the efficient staff.
