Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe liked everything about the Palais Bayrem - the fabulous location near the Medina, the friendly, helpful staff, our Suite Historique with its comfortable bed and hot shower, the breakfast (very big and varied each day) and the restaurant where we had a nice meal and excellent Tunisian wine. An excellent choice for 7 days.

United StatesThis was great. If you take your own taxi to what you think is the Medina you could be walking with your stuff a long way in a crowd. I recommend leaving from the road on the side of the hotel not the Medina west I believe. This way the walking is easy and uncrowded. The hotel offers a pickup service that can sort this for you if you don't like carrying your things or dealing with this.
This was fantastic. We spent three nights in a beautiful room every surface had beautiful tile or carvings or painted ceilings. It was large and comfortable. Nice staff, beautiful historic palace and it is very unique to stay right in the winding streets of the medina. A wonderful end to our holiday in Tunisia.

GermanyI liked everything without exception.
The Palais Bayram is like a dream place. Our room was unbelievably beautiful and spacy, it was not a room but a suite. The staff is extremely friendly, punctual and reliable. The location is right at the start of the Medina and still totally quiet. I can absolutely recommend this hotel!

United KingdomThis is a beautiful historic hotel in the heart of the medina! You feel like royalty. Book a grand historic suite! It is a bargain compared to the equivalent in Europe. The staff are lovely and the breakfast is delicious. We had dinner in the atmosphere restaurant. Overall, great value for money!!!

United KingdomThe hammam was a very nice experience, the lady ( I think her name was Najah) was lovely. The staff was very polite, as well as the guy who guided us from the taxi to the Palais. The location is superb, right in the Medina. Everything was clean.

United KingdomThere was no WiFi in one of the rooms and the other room had no hot water and had a damp smell of mould, which was pretty awful to sleep in. No accommodations were made to change this and the staff were very unhelpful as a result.
Breakfast was only available on the top floor, and we have a disabled guest who is unable to use the stairs. As a result, the breakfast was kindly brought to us but there were no vegan or vegetarian options for us travellers.

SpainNice hotel at the Medina. Good breakfast, nice ambiance. Warm water didn’t worked very well on the first day So I couldn’t showered. We had the same issue on the next day so they took us to the hamman. However it took them a while to turn it on. Despite that, everything was bearable until the checkout. We tried 4 different credit cards and none of them worked. The problem was that they always attributed the problem to be ours and not theirs. I had to call my bank twice while they were acting as if their POS interface worked well. Not the right attitude for the type of hotel they pretend to be. I will really not recommend it.

BulgariaUp to my husband, he had higher expectations about the breakfast. Up to me - serve me for breakfast only your jasmine milk with pistachio and I will melt of happiness. So it is very individual. And yes, if you travel with luggage could be trick cause there are 50-200m which you can only walk/cars are not allowed/. Which makes the place very quiet.
If it was not this hotel, i would not fall in love to old Tunis. Fantastic! My first but not last time visit

United StatesFirstly: This is NOT a five star hotel. Two stars at best. It is dusty, dingy, appliances are broken, the staff is unhelpful about the local area, the hammam smelled like mildew and looked poorly maintained, the “garden” had no flowers or landscaping. No furnishings in the courtyard to lounge. Room was very dark and light bulbs in the main chandelier were flickering or broken. No proper shower head, only a handheld tub. Location in the Medina was very hard to find and did not feel safe at night. When we arrived the hotel security guard told us he wanted to take us to a “gallery exhibition” ending that day and to see the mosque. It was all fine, we were pressured into buying a rug to no end. Staff were hustling guests, which is to be expected but not a five star property. Travelers: Unlike other African countries, The Medina in Tunis closes completely at 6PM. It is very dark and vacant. No restaurants, cafes or shops are open. There are homeless scavengers outside the hotel at night and no security guard. Taxis cannot come to the door. You will be hauling luggage through streets and up three staircases in the hotel.
We were greeted with tea and fruit in the room was delicious. The “historic suite” was spacious for a couple and very pretty. There was hot water.

New ZealandFrom the moment we arrived the whole experience was exceptional. Eman met us and her graciousness and kindness were immediately evident. The staff in restaurant ( and at breakfast) were so enthusiastic. The rooms in this beautifully restored property are the closest l have ever experienced to waking up in a Palace, sumptuous and spacious. The breakfasts were the best we experienced in our four month trip. Congratulations to a wonderful team- And thank you.

United Arab Emirates- The rooms are really dirty, dusty and I and one of my colleagues developed a cough because of that. - The roofs of my bed were surprisingly covered with dust and the carpets were dirty. also, you cannot walk without shoes as the floor is full of dirt which your feet can catch immediately!! - The facilities of the rooms are poor (no kettle, no slippers, no coffee machine …..). - The. bathroom was in a weird condition, some tapes were on the walls. - The safety box was a joke (too small and easy to remove!) - The bathroom kit was too limited. - Some missing lights bulbs. - The breakfast was not the best at all, the omelette was accepted but the other items are not of 5 stars hotel. - This place is not really like a five star hotel, it’s more like an old boutique hotel which lacks much of refurbishment and improvement. - The receptionist lied to us as they confirmed an arrangement of a VW Passat car to take us back to the airport for 80 Dinar (which is more expensive than any other arrangement we experienced before in the city) and then we were shocked with a very old small kia car with non working AC which barely occupied us!
- The place interior is really nice and appealing, it looks like you are in a museum of old palace. - The staff were friendly (not all though). - The rooms are unique and not identical.

SpainNothing to report
We enjoyed every single moment of our stay in this beautiful and cosy hotel located in the heart of the medina. Rooms are big, clean and really comfortable (bed pillows were the best I've ever had). Breakfast was fantastic, with different options of high quality local products. The food served at the restaurant was delicious, especially the cous cous with fish. Thanks to all the staff who were incredibly kind and helpful - we will be back!

United StatesMy bed wasn’t super comfortable, but that was in part due to the fact that it was too small for a tall girl like me.
The entire staff are so welcoming, and everyone goes the extra mile to make sure guests have the most enjoyable stay possible. They really make every guest feel like a V.I.P.
