Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Services such as laundry or room service are overpriced. But there are many alternatives in the neighbourhood.
Very convenient location. Very clean. Very good WiFi. Comfortable spacious communicating rooms. Professional staff. Our son’s plush went missing from our room. The hotel staff went out of their way to locate it. It had mistakenly been washed with the beddings, and was returned to us a couple days later. A big relief for our little boy.

This hotel was hands-down the best place we have stayed in all of Europe! The customer service and hotel staff hospitality was exceptional, which made our trip even more memorable. With the hustle and bustle of the live city of Istanbul the Barcelo was in a perfect location because it offered a quiet, clean and comfortable location. Within a 5 minute walk, you can be in the heart of Taksim Square, and for €5-10 taxi ride, you can reach anywhere in the city of Istanbul! The rooms were extremely clean. The Roman Bath and saunas were exquisite. I cannot stress enough how great the customer service and hospitality was! We will definitely be staying at the Barcelo during our next trip to Istanbul!

Everything was great I had a wonderful stay.
My stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful From the moment I checked in, Ms.Hanieh and Ms.Atousa welcomed me with warmth and professionalism. Ms.Hanieh was also incredibly helpful and attentive in resolving an issue I had. The hotel was impeccably clean, and the daily room service was excellent. Breakfast was outstanding, with a friendly and professional staff-especially Ms.Nour who was constantly ensuring top-notch service with a smile. I will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel to others!"

They helped a lot with our wedding from baking the cake, giving access to the makeup artist and stylist and a good place for a family dinner. Also giving access to the camera crew to record the some videos and take pictures of the marriage dinner celebration.

I just had a fantastic stay at the Barceló Istanbul Hotel and wanted to share my experience. I hade such an amazing stay. Firstly the hospitality is 10/10 everyone is kind, attentive and immediately made me feel welcome. My greatest gratitude to Büşra for being the person greeting us, providing us with all the info and checking us in. She was super helpful. Also thank you to the housekeeping, they do a fantastic job, we had Perihan abla on our floor and she was so kind and attentive. The room is modern and clean, WiFi was great and all the pictures on their website were accurate to the reality. The bathroom was also great (girls would appreciate there is good lighting). Bed and cushions are comfortable, I slept very well! Location is excellent - quick 5 min walk to taksim square. Uber to other destinations like Galata port or dolma bahçe come to around £5 and there are a few transport links from taksim square if you prefer not to get Uber. Breakfast was also great, there are many options to choose from. Well stocked with everything and tasty. I have stayed at Barceló hotel in Seville prior to this stay and also liked my experience there. So the quality standards must be company wide.
