Basilissis Hotel is a fantastic base for exploring Istanbul! Imane and Onur were wonderful in making me feel welcome and comfortable during my stay with their friendly and helpful nature. The room was quiet, comfortable and had all that I needed for my stay. I would happily return again!

The Basilissis Hotel is located in the center of Sultanahmet and is very easy to find and access. It is clean and freshly updated - you get exactly what you see in the pictures: fresh, new and streamlined. The beds were very comfortable, the showers - amazing. The breakfast served was one of the best we ate while in Turkey! The owner is very friendly, thoughtful and easy to communicate with via WhatsUp. He arranged for the shuttle for us from and to the airport and that worked seamlessly. A great place to stay while in Istanbul!

When you expenct too much luxus from the hotel you are not at the right place. but whey you want good staff , a person like Onur who ist allways there for you wheather which restaurant you should go or to help with the taxi driver , when you want a place to feel like home you are right at this hotel.

When you arive at the Hotel you will find yourself in the heart of Istanbul. The staff will take care of you from the first second until the end , particulary the Manager Onur was always the for us and made the visit very relived. From the hotel you can walk to all the big places in 10 min , so it was very easy for us to see nearly everything , above all Onur helped us a lot to Plan every single day.

The location is superb. Just a short distance to hagia sophia and the blue mosque but also at a quiet area. The lovely people working at the hotel is amazing!!! Onur has helped us with our rooms, giving us an early room so we could rest since we arrived at 6am. Onur made sure the rooms were cleaned and we had an enjoyable time giving us a lot of tips! love it!

Nice cute little hotel. It’s located right in the city centre, only 2 min from Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque. Staff is very helpful, special thank you to Onur who also helped us to organize airport transfers and gave us some tips about what to do and see in the city :)

The hotel is located right near the Gulhane park and is at a very good location. All other sights in the Old town are within walking distance. The staff is friendly and they are ready to accommodate your requests and help with anything you need. The breakfast was nice and you could always mix different things so it doesn't get too repetitive. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. It's good value for money, would recommend it to other people.

Breakfast was the biggest cons in this hotel. Food was often cold (outside temperature 0ºC), glasses and cutlery broken or dirty, the shelves where they were stored dirty. The hotel is not soundproof, you can hear people talking, doors shutting and so on. We chose this hotel for the high ranking and had expectations, however it was a bit disappointing.

The position is great, the hotel is closed to all main attractions in few steps. Staff is warm and welcoming, always available for advice and help. I loved the shower box, which was very big and offers several options. The room was basic, but ok. I was provided of many amenities like shampoos and shower gels, towels were charged daily.

The quadruple family room is located on the ground floor and has no windows (despite what the photos of the room suggest). You have no concept of whether it is night or day and the room is extremely hot and humid with no way of getting fresh air. There are glass opaque blocks looking into the hallway to attempt to bring light into the room, but the hallway is also dark unless lit by an extremely bright sensor light which comes on constantly during the night. The bathroom is extremely small to manoeuvre in and there is no where to hang towels to dry (also adding to the humid environment. The cockroach on the breakfast bar was an unpleasant surprise on our first morning, as was the toilet that would not stop flushing itself at 4:30am on our last evening. I was also not advised that the airport transfer that they organised would have to be paid in cash until after the fact, and struggled to find an ATM that would allow me to withdraw Euros. I would have organised my own transfer if they had been up front. I also don’t like being told that if I don’t give a glowing review then the staff would miss out on their bonus this month. It explains why this hotel has such a high review score.

I booked Triple room . It turned out that it is room in the lobby on the ground floor without windows. That was unexpected and disappointing as it wasn’t mentioned in my booking. Next day the manager changed it to family room on the 4th floor. It was ok for night stay , a bit outdated, however we needed it for night only . We had issues with ventilation , but staff was quick to resolve it. There are some points that the hotel can improve: Tv is above the bed in family room, strange place honestly for tv , my sister had to sleep on opposite side as it didn’t seem safe. As I was with 6 months baby I ordered a cot that they kindly provided to us but the cot was with needles, so I asked them to take it as it was not safe for baby to sleep there. What was really bad is bedding and towels. Bedding was with stains and towels with holes. I told it to the reception, they changed bedding and towels however towels were again with holes 🤦🏼‍♀️ common guys, you need to buy new towels and bedding and clean mattresses. This hotel has really great potential just need improvement

Good staff, amazing location I don’t need anything special for breakfast ( boiled eggs and fresh vegetables ) and they had it all, so it was good. Good transfer to airport

I honestly felt very deceived by the reviews and the 9,1 rate that this hotel is getting… It was definitely nothing that I was expecting. I even feel sorry for the owner as he was asking for a good review and this may be the way they’re getting the 9s and 10s here. The first impression of the room was that maintenance was missing everywhere. There was stains and holes on the walls, the bed sheets and towels were supposed to be white but were not, there was stains everywhere and looked dirty. Mattresses and pillows not comfortables and in the middle of our stay they changed the pillows somehow which was not good either. We booked a family room but there was no structure to receive 4 people, not enough sockets, a small wardrobe and a small table to support. In the bathroom we didn’t have enough hangers for the towels nor shelves in the shower to leave shampoos and etc. They would come to “clean” the room everyday but wouldn’t really clean, our toilet was never cleaned and they would max change the towels and made the beds very poorly. The breakfast was good but very repetitive, fruits were offered only on our 3rd day so it doesn’t really look like in the picture. They offer the breakfast in the lobby which is also not the best place to do it I would say. The staff was gentle and I cannot complain about them, but I was definitely expecting more by the 9,1 they got on booking.com, the hotel definitely needs maintenance. They were not offering the cheapest tariff so I chose them based on the location and good comments I read here.

The only things I liked were the location and the shower.

Blanckets were stained. Toilet was dirt behind the toilet seat. Toilet seat was loose and fell always down (had to poo with seat on tour back). Double bed was composed of two different mattresses (one harder than the other). Very small wardrobe. First day dark curtains were missing (but the staff solved the issue on the 2nd day), so light came in and had no privacy.

Great position to explore Istanbul old city, in a quite street. Nice and supportive staff.

The room was dark because of the black colour of certains and the mobiles. And the water in the bathroom in the cabin go very slowly, so the water split out of the cabin, it was very uncomfortable.

The place is the best, it is just 3 minutes walk to the Ayasofya Mosque, Gulhane park, Sultanahmet Mosque. The personal was very friendly, helpful. I am grateful them for everything. There was lift in the hotel, was clear. They every day update the stock of cups, tea, coffee and brought new towels, soaps.

1) The airport transfer. When landed, the driver arrived with more than 30 min delay. When departed, we almost lost our flight because the driver didn’t show up at the time requested. And eventually had to stop a taxi and do it on our own. 2) in the evening a black-out left us without power for like 4 hours

Bathroom facilities seemed to be very used and not well maintained, toilet seat was basically broken! Shower fixtures dated and what is the biggest failure both the bathroom and room were simple not clean and staff claimed the rooms are cleaned every day ... if so Basilissis - change your cleaning staff they are not doing what you are paying them for! Room tiny, the console table seemed to be falling apart, walls in the room dirty. Generally this room calls for an update. Breakfast products limited and not so fresh. You do not have to provide a big variety, but at least make it decent quality! Dining room in the basement ale did not seem clean. I am not an obsessed person just appreciate basic hygiene! I am writing this review after a couple of months after the visit yet remember everything very well, and had a chance to reflect and be fair. Staff is simply over promising on this place in booking.com. I'd. really recommend to find something else for couple looking for a basic yet clean and good value stay.

A better fitting sheet and duvet would have provided more comfortable sleep. A cooling fan would also have provided added comfort as we had to leave windows open to stay comfortable and this meant it was noisy

Toilett is really small and also what was bothering me the most is that our room was on a floor which is half under the ground and only upper half was above the ground so the room is not bright enough. First night we got in the room my pillowcase was dirty and there was no enough towels. The staff was really nice and brought clean pillowcase and more towels

You have to walk down about 15 steps to front of the hotel. (Front of the hotel is not at the roadside). The facility is bad, I never had such a torn towel in any hotel in my whole life. This is the first hotel. It is too much expensive for such a room. The staff is good.

It is near the tourist place.
