Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United Kingdom41 steps up to room up narrow spiral staircase then 50 in the hotel next door for breakfast. I should have thought about that. Rooms quite small unless you get the top floor suite - no table and chair
Handy for old town. Good breakfast with french fries in hotel next door. Clean.

United KingdomBreakfast was poor. Sound proofing in the rooms was terrible, we did not get even one good night of sleep. You can hear everything in the hotel, including people walking up and down the stairs. There was construction going on through the night right outside our room which was particularly uncomfortable. The room is very small, it is difficult even to walk around. The bathroom too is very little and difficult to use.
The location was great, the shower had good water pressure.

United StatesSmall things added up: The toilet seat wasn't attached. We had a great hot shower at night but cold water in the morning. Our room overlooked a yard full of trash. The staff helped us with the luggage--much appreciated because of the narrow spiral staircase with no banister.
We slept well in our clean and surprisingly quiet room. It's an easy walk to Haga Sofia and other renowned buildings in this UNESCO Heritage Site. The hotel sent use to the Harmony Hotel for breakfast, which we ate on a rooftop terrace overlooking the Bosphorus.

United KingdomThe air con in our initial room didn't work and we had an awfully sweaty first night with no sleep. After reporting it they told us they had checked and it was fine. It wasn't, and once we'd told them again they were super helpful and moved us to a new room. The 1st room's decor was tatty, it had a broken toilet seat and the bathroom light was on a sensor that switched off after 30 seconds. The 2nd room was less tatty and everything worked, except from an exposed wire on the kettle. It would have been useful to have signs on the breakfast food indicating what everything was as we couldn't tell, as well as instructions on how to use the tea machine!
The hotel staff were very helpful and kind. They gave us great information about the city on arrival and were very quick to solve the issues that we had. The breakfast was next door at the sister hotel, which had a lovely sea view.

United StatesThe sheets. I could tell they were not cleaned; white sheets are not supposed to be dingy.
The staff was very welcoming and went above and beyond to assist me. Walnut Shell is also very centrally located to a lot of major landmarks.

United KingdomThe cleanliness and condition of the rooms could have been much better. There was stains on the sheets from before and the toilet was broken off it's hinge.
The location was excellent. Close to many tourist spots, bars, restaurants and public transport with the tram. Breakfast in the morning was also good.

NetherlandsBeware of this place. There is one big room and that’s why the score is high. There’s other tiny, tiny rooms and a very busy street and you hear traffic noise and pollution all night and day. We had no room to put our bags anywhere and had to lie them in front of the bathroom door. There’s so many other great places that are cheaper nearby. The owner will refuse to refund you. I’ve stayed in better 20 person dormitories/hostels.
Nothing

Russiadoesn’t match the description, extremely small rooms, breakfast is not served in the hotel - it is served in the hotel next door and no one told me in advance so I missed it. street is very noise and rooms are not soundproof - you cannot open the window and A/C is just on the wall on front so you cannot leave it on at night unless you want to catch a cold. Wi-Fi is very poor
friendly staff

NetherlandsWe expected a small cosy hotel which might be quite old and not that modern but where owners love the place and care for it. In real life you find poorly maintained rooms and host with no interest... Things that bothered us the most: - automatic light in the bathroom that turns off after 20(!) sec: you constantly need to move and wave hands while on the toilet or brushing teeth - poorly working sewage: water will leave shower through one hole and appear on the bathroom floor near the toilet from another, bringing with it all the dirth from sewage. So the floor was constantly wet... - no socet by the theemaker: it was one of our main criteria to choose a room and in the end we didn't use it - bad maintenence of all appliances: water tap is leaking and sprinkls water all over you; drawer handles are dirty and cranky; quite dark room with no light near bed
Location in the city center; Fresh towels on daily basis; From time to time fruits at breakfast Considering the price, it is an okeish place. But the reviews are way too high for what you get
