Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsBreakfast wasn't at the hotel. The eggs were too salty in my opinion.
There were a lot of Taiwanese breakfast options, which also meant that I didn't know/recognize half of the things. It tasted alright and there was more than enough.

ThailandThe hotel itself is nothing special at all. Breakfast is provided off site at a canteen location. The food was of mediocre quality. The hotel location requires some significant up and down hill walking which can be difficult with luggage. To be honest most hotels here have the same issue, but other hotels seem to be picking up and dropping their customers to the train station. We had to walk and the staff made no effort to advise if they can help. Room itself was fine but way over priced for the quality, but this appears to be the same for most hotels in this area.
Nothing really great about this hotel.

TaiwanI didn't like the hotel breakfast for which you need to walk 10 mins from hotel and room size congested for 4 ppl . Also hot water supply is not good. There was no restaurant in the hotel and we were just heating our food .
Location is too good to reach toy train station/zhaoping station . Very near to forest recreation area.

United StatesIt’s an old style hotel with outdated rooms.
we choose this hotel because it’s location. it’s a 10 minutes walk from Alishan train station. Parking is free. we parked our car at the hotel and used the train and walking to get around the park. Although it shows its ages, the room and beds are comfortable. Beds are electrically heated with a dial control. That makes it easier to deal with room without a heater in a cold night. And front desk provides helpful recommendations about touring the park.

CanadaBathroom has signs of mildew. Typical Alishan hotel, hasn’t been upgraded in decades! Right rooms. I wish they were able to do a train pick up but I wasn’t able to get ahold of them ahead of time.
Great location. Had luggage storage and free shuttle to bus station. Breakfast was traditional Taiwan breakfast.

AustraliaThe shower was a bit temperamental, and got cold quickly. Some of the buttons for the TV didn’t work.
The location was fantastic. It was amazing to be able to stay inside the park itself, and to be so close to the rail station and walking trails. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, and the facilities were accessible.

IndiaVery very expensive for an old property. While things were working, they were not modern equipments.
It’s located within the national park and has good heating system inside the room and bed to keep you warm in the cold mountain weather.

CanadaHotel was freezing cold, one tiny heater couldn’t keep it warm. The free breakfast was in a building at a 10 minute walk away. The breakfast can only be described as horrible for western taste. We tried to have a coffee which was luke warm at best and only had powdered milk. No way did this hotel cater to anyone but Taiwanese guests.

SingaporeThe hotel, while relatively clean, is in need of an upgrade. Shower took very long to turn warm. Heater was very noisy.
The location was good and convenient. It was close to the train station, 7-eleven and several nice restaurants.

SingaporeSlightly disappointed given the first floor, as it lacked window views. The outside mountain scenery was partially obstructed by a line of pine trees.
Delightful local breakfast experience and impeccably maintained surroundings, despite the vintage appearance of the facilities.

SingaporeThe only thing I didn't like was the brakfast, which was very local (i.e. for many Westerners like me it's not something we can stomach) - but again it's a similar case in many hotels around Taiwan...
The staff were very helpful and made sure they explained everything from how to operate the heater to how to get to the highlights of the park, the room was very clean and cosy with a comfy bed. Also the wifi works surprisingly well, I managed to have a full language class with video over zoom with no issues! It's true the facilities are quite old and the cost is inflated by the location, but it's by no means as bad as some reviews suggest. Yes it's a bit of a walk from the bus, but it's the same for all hotels in the area. Honestly the older decor has a quirky charm to it. The walls are thin, but so they sre in many other hotels and at least here everyone goes to sleep and gets up around the same time since they are staying for the sunrise. I had a VERY pleasant stay overall.

AustraliaRelatively expensive for what you get but that is due to the location. Have to let the water run for ages to get hot water, which we were advised of.
Easy access to Alishan National Park. Clean and comfortable room. Small coffee table and chairs for sitting and drinking tea/coffee. Stored our bags while we explored the park.

TaiwanThe heater in the room was a bit loud when on. The window glass could be better if they were transparent.
We stayed at corner room which made the experience nicer because then we didn’t hear much noise at all from other rooms nor outside. The room was clean and with a mountain view. I also liked the tea set in the room! They also provided pick up/drop off from the entrance to their hotel.
