Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IrelandThe auntie who runs the guesthouse is so lovely and wonderful, she really goes out her way to make you feel at home. She was the highlight of my trip to Lanyue, she was so kind! The b&b is in a great location, opposite a lovely beach where you can swim.

United StatesIt's important to remember that you're staying in somebody's home, and none of the homes on the island are luxury experiences. We found the beds to be quite hard.
The auntie whose home we stayed at was very warm and welcoming. She explained where to go and what to do. We communicated in Mandarin, although she speaks a few words of English as well. They picked us up from the ferry station. Communication prior to the stay was clear -- they are upfront that they don't provide towels, and they strongly advise you bring all the cash you need because there are only two ATMs on the island and they don't work with foreign cards. The auntie was very helpful in helping us get a rental car -- you will need a car or scooter to get around on the island. Our room had a sea view, and had air conditioning. She cooked us breakfast (essentially, toast and bacon).

United KingdomThe bed could have been a little comfier, but for the price you can’t complain!
The hosts were so warm and welcoming, they helped us rent scooters right away (a necessity here) and gave us a map with thorough details of where’s best to visit on the island, where to eat etc. And then in the morning we met the mother and she was so so lovely and cooked us breakfast. If you can speak Chinese she will love to chat with you, and even if not it’s possible to share some laughs😂

United StatesThe homestay didn’t provide towels, so make sure you bring your own! The host does remind you in advance to bring your own towels.
The home stay host was so amazing and friendly. she is a local to Lanyu & has many recommendations on things to do and places to go. The rooms & beds are comfortable, and AC works well. The bay right across the street has amazing snorkelling, and it is located in a very convenient spot. It is equidistant from the two 711’s on the island.

United StatesThere wasn't a ton of food options at night for a solo traveller. Driving to other villages is always an option but the roads are very bumpy and not well lit, which can make one feel nervous at times. The rooms and facilities were fine, however, the bathroom could be much cleaner. It also doubling as a laundry room and being a communcal bathroom though, I understand it not being super clean.
The auntie and her sons are very helpful with scheduling activities if you want to do so. The auntie's homemade breakfast was also very nourishing and I appreciated our convos! She was very open about sharing more about life on the island.

SpainMaybe it’s a little bit expensive (considering value for money). But I guess it’s because the island itself is very touristic…
The lady who runs the hostel is very nice and attentive, she’s always there willing to help you if you need anything. And the breakfast is delicious!
